Hi, I'm looking for manga with schizophrenia/split personality as the main element. (i.e. Nanaka 6/17)

Don't really care about the targeted audience, but more often than not I find that the shoujo/josei type is more to my liking. This because those are often more focused on the characters and the story.
Horror like themes are acceptable, but only if they are needed to better portray a character.
What I care about above all else is the story.

Any suggestions?

But as I stated above, it doesn't need to be shoujo/josei (I only care about a good story), I can live with horror like elements but they need to contribute something (not just entertainment and such).

For example, Elfen lied could have been good, but it has way to much gore while it doesn't contribute anything to the story (simply killing the person in question would have had the same effect story wise).
Atleast, that's what I think.

Hey! I just wanna mention that schizophrenia is not the same as multiple personality disorder (I should know, I have both) which is what most of you are going by to make these sugestions.
However, since MPD is usually connected to schizophrenia it's not entirely wrong.
I also wanted some related manga about this so thanks.

So far my only manga with similar references where Battle Royale and Gravitation (minor references).

I'm actually interested in schizophrenia. MPD kind of scares me..
I haven't read any manga that revoles around those ideas, only as smaller sidetones to the story..

That's why I mentioned both split personality and schizophrenia (sorry for earlier spelling mistake).

The main difference (I think) would be that schizophrenia is a mental disorder 'outside' (i.e. hallucinations), and MPD is on the 'inside'.

actually the basics of schizophrenia are the discoordenance between emotion and thought. hallucinations, stress dissorders, emotional disorders and depression are just some of the main symptons. MPD is associated to 90% of schizos though its not synonym of schizophrenia.
But it's a commom mistake anyway. ^__^

I wouldn't agree with Otomen. He chooses to present a macho front to others. That's his choice, not a personality disorder. The same was true at one point for Hunny-sempai of Ouran Host Club, but again, that was a choice to present that front to others when he was younger.

While it's not a main theme of the manga, Air Gear has Agito/Akito. (MPD)

Apollo’s Song is a good bet. The main character, Shogo is at times a considerate and understanding young man, at other times he'd murder without thought.

Don't know how you feel about BL, but if you're up for it, one of the main characters of G-Senjou no Neko has multiple personalities.
