I'm looking for a manga that has a couple with a similar relationship as Kyou and Tohru. There's this scene in volume 6 (I think) (I'll spoiler cut this, just in case)

Spoiler (highlight to view)
where Kyou transforms and Tohru hugs him anyway, despite him having lashed out at her any everything (it's been a while since I've read it so it's a bit fuzzy

but yeah, something similar to that. I know there are a lot of them, it's practically a cliche really, their sort of relationship. Love-Hate sort of thing I guess. Where one feels like a monster no one can love and the other prove to them that they are not (InuYasha and Kagome come to mind a little too.)

The problem I'm encountering is that I believe I've read most of the popular titles that fit what I'm looking for bigrazz (looking at the recs on the Fruits Basket page I've read a lot of them.... )

If someone could recommend something, or perhaps let me know which ones out of the Fruits Basket recs are worth the read (or must reads). Thanks so much.

Yeah, fruits basket was very good.
Mmm... Penguin Kakumei maybe?
She'd stick by their side, no matter what.

Zero and Yuuki (xD that's them in my signature) of Vampire Knight have exactly that sort of relationship, but, as with Fruits Basket, the series is based on a love triangle. Unlike Fruits Basket, though, the series has not ended, and could end up going either way.

When it comes to "the-guy-thinks-he's-an-unlovable-monster-but-the-gir l-shows-him-otherwise" though, Zero and Yuuki (and, to a certain extent, the other part of the triangle, Kaname and Yuuki) portray exactly that.

If you're looking for a series like Fruits Basket, I'd also suggest Hoshi wa Utau, the newest serialized story by the author of Fruits Basket. :3

This is more along the lines of 'one feels like a monster but the other loves them unconditionally': Hana to Akuma, Beast Master, Chrno Crusade (sorta), Apothecarius Argentum, Gertrude no Recipe, Samurai Deeper Kyo (it's shounen though so those moments are limited).

Beast Master is the first thing that came to mind.

Thanks for your suggestions bigrazz After posting this I decided to give Penguin Kakumei a chance (I'd been avoiding it because the summary didn't grab me, but then neither did Fruits Basket - a friend recommended it and now I love it) So far it's really cute!

Vampire Knight - I found the anime before the manga so at some point I may actually read the manga to see what was left out.

Beast Master I read last month maybe, which actually sparked my sudden hunt for new manga bigrazz

I'm definitely going to look into the rest of the suggestions her, thanks again (and feel free to keep them coming, can't have too many bigrazz)
