Anal sex NOT the end-all, be-all?

Okay, so here's the deal. I'm getting bored of BL that portrays anal sex as the pinnacle of a gay couple's sex life. Since, you know, there are other things they can do. So what are some manga where they get intimate in ways other than anal sex and enjoy it just as much, if not more? Note that I'm not looking for "other stuff as a buildup to anal sex," since those types of manga still treat anal sex as the ultimate goal - the culminating act, if you will. I'm looking for, "we can (and do) enjoy ourselves just as much with this stuff that is not anal sex, and for no reason other than because we want to." So. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Mmm... If I remember correctly, UGH has some dick to dick friction.
Though I pretty much doubt there are manga like that, where anal isn't what they're striving for.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

If I had a fantasy self, it'd be a tentacle monster.

That's a though question. I think your best bet is staying with mild BL where the characters just don't go any further, as sad as it is.
But a manga that excludes anal sex primary because both partners decide against it, is rare. Very rare. Mostly the story ends before the relationship developed so far ("Ok, we'll love us and I can wait till you're prepared for it... end.") but purposely indicating that it won't happen at all... hrrrrm... thinks hard
I'd like to see more such BL manga as well, but I guess that's just not the focus of the genre. Maybe you have more luck with bara? Seeing that the critique point coming from gay manga fans is often the clear 'female role' of one partner in BL, I could picture that their targeting manga feature it less. But then again, I haven't read any yet since I've yet to come across an art style that appeals to me.

Oddly, I've never read UGH before, though I'd heard a lot about it. But yeah, that's kind of what I'm going for, thanks. ^^

I had the hunch that I would be told to look into bara, though I was rather hoping I wouldn't be. I don't have the first clue about bara. -.0
I don't mind anal in and of itself, I just mind when it's the same thing every single time the clothes come off (or don't come off, whatever). I just... well... want some variety, you know? I think it's one of the main reasons I dislike the vast majority of yaoi yet like so much shounen-ai. -.0; Ah, well. I guess I'll just have to survive. ^_^;

Mmm, I haven't read much bara myself, but from what I have read, it always ends with anal. Not much stuff in between and the art is often unattractive.
You can also try Koi wo Suru Shokubutsu which is a oneshot from the Viewfinder series.
Also Zion no Koeda. I think it's really good.
I'll add more if I remember anything. 🙂

It's hard to find since yaoi and yuri very identicall with hentai, even it maybe unfit for some reader but that the genre rules anyway. And mangaka in Japan usually strict follow genre rules

Yeah, kinda the same here.
I can do very well without this 'end' (I mean, I wouldn't want it myself, so it always feels a little weird to me regardless of how often I saw it by now >.>) and most of my favorite BL's are actually mild ones with little to none explicitness - though, I don't mind the smex, of course \o/
But I really have a problem to recommend series to you. I was thinking really hard but always end up in mere 'shounen-ai' again. Some manga by Miyamoto Kano do feature couples who don't go 'all the way'. She generally tends to portray her characters more realistic but I can't recall any specific title on the spot... I think the one with Hikaru and Tooru ended up with oral only.... think
Also, Tenohira no Seiza (by one of my favorite artists <3) ends up in a reeeaaally sweet bed scene that indicates anal but can be very well interpreted otherwise since you don't see it directly. I remember that I only noticed it the second time. My sweet innocent beginner-yaoi-heart made me think they just lay on each other when I've read it first >.>;

Well, I've read an article about bara over at Yaoi911 a while ago (which I can't link since it contains downloads - PM?) which said this:
"While there does seem to be a fair amount of the inevitable anal intercourse consummation that you find in yaoi works, there also seems to be a deeper awareness that oral sex and mutual masturbation are also considered equally valid and fulfilling ways for two guys to make love — and that anal sex isn’t necessarily something first-timers would be down for. I find this understanding makes the sex more believable for me and thus, ultimately, hotter."
I'd assume that bara is generally more hentai-like in it's main features, not by threatening one partner as 'woman' but in terms of close-ups and explicitness. It is for male readers after all and thus simply have different preferences when it comes to porn. But seeing that many of my gay male friends ain't into anal themselves, I'd also say that there must be an audience for anal-free gay porn.
Maybe it's just not the majority of scanlated bara since it kinda seems to get brought over her mainly by female (yaoi) readers? Could be an explanation but the art turns me off so much that I'm afraid, I'll never find out 😕

That sounds like the oneshot Vanity. It ended with anal; I recall it being the only time Tooru and Hikaru have any form of physical smexing.
My addition is Steal Moon.
Edit
And The Tyrant Falls In Love has quite a few scenes where anal is not the point.

I second Miyamoto Kano greatly.
Also, I think Don't Call Me Master! might fit quite well with your request.
Though the pure uke would still want more :D

That is really a good question...I remember reading some yaois that have those kind of things but as you guys said that is common for couples that don't want to go all the way yet.
Anyways, your question reminded me a lot of an extra story in Wild Darling that I read a couple of days ago..it was really nice, but just a chapter there..about the fact that they can do another stuff. And maybe Ai no Kotodama ?
You can consider Pathos also, since they are vampires and it is said that vampires can't get it up in that story, of course you have anal sex but there is a point when it becomes impossible there.

Hey, I wonder about this, too. You know, I think it all ends with that because the female reader is supposed to relate to the uke, and that's the one pseudo-genital both genders share... but that is one thing I really don't want to relate to.
The only thing I can think of is the webmanga Cloe Remembrance. It's a shota-ish shonen-ai, but there's one under-covers sex scene (not with the shota characters) and it's front-to-front.

Nitta Youka's longer works (longer than one volume) are usually slice-of-life-y and should have the couples doing something else other than anal sex at times.

I seem to remember Bondz was kinda like this. You know, just having fun fooling around, not really worried about how far they're gonna go.
