A year has come and gone since the last time I've made this kind of news post. I'm 19 now, the last of the teen years. The last year has been great, so here's to another good one!
This poll is probably suited more toward Valentine's Day, but oh well~
Simply choose your favorite chocolate type. Some of you may not be happy with the choices I put there, but too bad. I'm not an expert on types of chocolates...And just to tell you, the idea for this poll was submitted by our forum moderator NightSwan.

Also:
VIZ Media will be announcing new Shonen Sunday series for 2010 at its Manga and Anime panel at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con International on Friday, July 24th from 3:00-4:30 in Room 32AB. Going forward, DVD products from the select series will also feature the Shonen Sunday imprint.*
Yeah, I'm a day late for July 4th...You can blame Anime Expo for that, since I barely got back to my room at the time of this writing (and it's about 1 AM on July 5th) after working from 8 AM to 6 PM in a booth (and I woke up at 6 AM). Anyways, I hope all you Americans got to see your fireworks! I even managed to see a few outside in Los Angeles from one of the bridges at the LA Convention Center
Note: Poll is closed, and since I'm tired, no new one this week. Results for the last poll will be posted next week
That title seems so wrong...Anyways, before I talk about the polls, a reminder that from July 2-5 is AnimeExpo in Los Angeles, CA. You can find instructions for finding me on this thread:

(Or if you know my in person...which at least 2 people who read this do...call my cell phone...)
For other news, we're hiring site coders (so we can get v2 out...finally...), so read the news post below for more details!
Now on to the poll:
This poll was submitted by our member CatzCradle. More of a shoujo one than anything else though...Just choose your favorite sound that indicates falling in love.

Sure, "no" was gonna win, but a lot of us still let our entertainment change us, either for the better or the worse...
Hello all,
I've been working on some behind the scenes framework updates, and am looking for some people who might be interested in helping.
Requirements are:
- Knowledge of PHP with several previous OOP examples
- Knowledge of Design patterns such as Singleton, Strategy, Factory, Abstraction Layers, and others
- Previous website coding experience, understanding of GET/POST/cookies, the concept of user sessions
- Knowledge of MySQL, strong knowledge of SQL Injection and exploitation techniques.
- Willing to follow our coding standards (essentially, we require that all conditional logic have curly brackets, and that they occupy their own line)
- ... A lot of free time
This is a volunteer position. You will have a chance to contribute to a project which sees a large audience. We're open to new design ideas as you see them as well.
I appreciate any interest you have. If you are interested, please email
manick@baka-updates.com with your previous OOP, PHP, MySQL, Website, etc experience. If you meet the qualifications, we'll send you more information about the project.
Thank you again for your interest.
I (lambchopsil) will be working in one of the booths in the exhibit hall at Anime Expo this year (more information on that to come later). For the visitors of MangaUpdates, if enough of you are coming to Anime Expo, we can organize a time/place to perhaps meet each other. Please state your interest at this thread:

More information about Anime Expo can be found at their website here:

This poll was suggested by our member Perim. The poll itself has simple choices, yet is a little hard to explain. Basically, does manga/anime affect real world decisions that you make? Perhaps you act a certain way now just because you read Naruto (think of all the little kids running around like ninjas...) Or perhaps you listen to classical music more because of Nodame Cantabile. Or any number of possible influences...

Scanlators, hopefully you see how the people voted. (I acknowledge that joint efforts do not always work out though)
Summer has started for me, and here's a poll to knock it off~
This one's by our member JohnHomos (wow, 2 in a row?). The poll itself is interesting in the views of scanlators and how they work...(Although just to note, joints between groups can be difficult depending on the people and how they work)
