You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903
Question: How many languages do you proficiently know?
Choices:
Just English (most likely you're American) - votes: 2913 (18.3%)
English and... (meaning you're the rest of the world) - votes: 7360 (46.2%)
Three (above average) - votes: 4196 (26.3%)
Four (exceptionally learned) - votes: 979 (6.1%)
Five or more (approaching godly status) - votes: 499 (3.1%)
There were 15947 total votes.
The poll ended: May 5th 2012
It is perfectly fine to only know 1 language well (including me), but it seems the majority knows plenty of languages! And I realize "proficiently" is very subjective. We're not using the results of these polls for anything, so that's alright. It's a poll for fun, not a full-blown survey.

That's really bad for health :S, i can't believe anybody would actually hate all sports.
I also love Rugby (played it for years), but i think an occidental archery manga would be interesting.

I hate playing all sports, although i was briefly on my high school tennis team, but i sucked since i had never played before. and the only sport i can stand to watch is mma. the others are just too boring fro me.
anyways, for the poll i struggled choosing between archery and kendo, but in the end chose kendo. i've read some really good manga with those sports, that actually managed to make me care about the sports.

Actually, I tend to prefer sports manga about sports I don't enjoy watching - I've enjoyed plenty of Adachi's baseball series, despite never watching the game if I can help it. Conversely, I'm a big MMA fan, and don't really care for All Rounder Meguru or Holyland.

I like a few manga with archery in them. I've read several with basketball and soccer/american football.
Oh, I also like a few sports manga with supernatural hints as well [generally martial arts, but there are others as well...]
In conclusion, 'Track and Field' gets my vote because it's somewhat common and I really like people who can run fast!
» StaticHD on May 5th, 2012, 1:42am
But I feel stupid. I should have picked Cheerleading. With Cheerleading, there would sure be drama, girls trying to be popular through sex appeal, pursuing modeling, slice of life, ecchi situations and much more. Guys trying to be cheerleaders and looked upon as real fags when all they are trying to do is get closer to cute cheerleading-girls.
Video Games would be sweet too, but I guess something supernatural or fantasy mixed with some scienticfic action had to be combined with that concept.
Baseball is so ridiculously boring, and a fail. Even the creator of Naruto couldn't make a successful baseball oneshot piece.
» NightSwan on May 5th, 2012, 1:44am
Probably Track and Field. Some of my fav smuts feature it, like Sweet Little Devil (somewhat) and Interval (which is insane but still pretty hot).
As for cheerleading - that could be fun.
But I don't remember reading a manga about it, with the exception of hentai.
» BlueHaro on May 5th, 2012, 1:45am
Personally, I would love to see someone pull off something like golf. We have successful mangas about go, shougi, karuta, baseball, etc...but I can't think of any on golf. Always fun to read a manga about a sport/game that makes a boring looking sport into something interesting~
» sarah-eats-cupcakes on May 5th, 2012, 1:52am
edit: track and field too...i really liked d-ash
» caitnap on May 5th, 2012, 3:48am
voted for video games XD never seen one of those
my latest fav book is about VR game =P not sport tho, i think they are boring.

Parkour is a kind of Martial Arts... Well, based on it at least.
I voted Martial arts, but with that I mean REAL and REALISTIC martial arts, non of that crappy John Woo stuff (or the typical shounen MA, i.e. Kenichi).

Maybe a better poll was to only use broad catogories.
like teamsports, sport with one partner, single player sport, etc
-Didn't vote, but would have chosen sport with one partner, like diving and mountaineering-

Agreeing with these two. Ice Hockey is one of the under-appreciated, skillful, brutal, and enduring sports out there. I always will have the utmost respect for all hockey players because they give it their all and take tons of punishment every night, yet the vast majority of them never complain about it at all and seem to enjoy their experiences. Also, they make some the most unique characters in all sport.

So no vote on this one from me. What makes a sport series really interesting is everything else that isn't the sport. The characters, the drama, etc.

DOES NOT COMPUTE *BOOOM*
Why am I not surprised that more people want to see martial arts featured in an Asian way of drawing, eh? An uncanny coincidence with the stereotype?
I chucked one for B-ball though, since that's what I play on occasion.

Chess isn't a sport...unless you count chess boxing
And I believe e-sports was added in just because it has "sports" in it >_>
» forgottenone666 on May 6th, 2012, 3:43am
Yeah to me a sport should be something physically demanding. I could understand it being an e-sport if it was laser tag but video games I don't accept as being a sport. Just because something is competitive doesn't mean it should be called a sport.
» sarah-eats-cupcakes on May 6th, 2012, 3:52am
yeah i agree, i was wondering why e-sports was on this list
» Scyfon on May 6th, 2012, 3:56am
I don't know about you...but training up for an e-sports tourney can be quite physically demanding. Especially when big money is on the line.

*sigh*
» forgottenone666 on May 6th, 2012, 1:41pm
Yeah I can understand there is a lot of time and effort that goes into it and I respect that but if we start considering that as something that signifies a sport then we'll start having competitive lawyering, or accounting as sports.
» Scyfon on May 6th, 2012, 3:07pm
I don't see why not.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are law or accounting offices that have some sort of an in-house competition between colleagues. You can still call it a sport. The only difference is that it wouldn't be as widespread and nor would it be very spectatable.
In all accounts, esports is everything every other sport is aside from the "physical" aspect.

» SAimNE on May 7th, 2012, 5:43am
Blitz ball ftw....(or the military laser tag in enders game)
On a side note. Atm golf is officially the most ignored sport.... even below cycling x.x
Nvr mind I overlooked racquetball... possibly from my mind attempting to shield me from the aweful reality of such a "sports" existence x.x
» G-17 on May 6th, 2012, 3:21pm
....all the rest are merely games.
» AceBunneh on May 7th, 2012, 10:12am
Although I guess if I was forced to chose I'd probably pick Martial Arts because that seems the easiest and most done so the hardest to mess up. (Not that people haven't done so...)
» Darkwap on May 7th, 2012, 10:26am
I do like martial arts and kendo sports manga though. Actually Archery would be interesting as well.
