Imperial Scans Closing
Imperial Scans is closing its doors after 4 years of scanlation. Their statement is as follows:

Hey folks,

It's a sad day for all of us at Imperial Scans today as we've decided to close down for good.
We've been struggling to maintain our efforts for a while now, and it hasn't been easy with everyone getting more and more responsibilities in real life as we grow older, getting more tied up in jobs, family situations, etc. We've reached a point where going on has really become a burden in the little spare time we got, and despite us all still enjoying what we do, it's now time to accept our limits.
We've asked our friends over at MangaStream if they're interested in continuing any of our current series. They're down with Tokyo Ghoul:re, but still have to look at staff availability for anything else.
We want to thank all of those who supported us over the years. All of you who simply appreciated the service we've been happily providing, you were the best fans. It's been one hell of a ride.

Imperial Scans Founders

P.S.: Fuck Touka

This is weird, first they start a new series and then their gone. And all their releases are gone too.
If they are stopping they've got no reason to remove the past releases, but I've got the feeling something more is going on. Maybe they are forced by a DMCA to stop.

I hope someone picks up Rikudou.

Could this be related to the 3 people in japan being arrested for illegally uploading scanned manga scans to an English manga site? Because if those that got arrested happened to be affiliated with Imperial Scans, then that truly sucks ass!

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, check out this video.
Caution:
Forneverworld (the youtuber) is FREAKING UGLY as heck and uses the foul language when speaking English.

I'm justing warning you before you start hating me for posting the link:

Lmao, glad I'm not the only one who dislikes Touka. Never understood why she was voted the most popular character in the recent poll...

Anyways, I'm sad to hear about the group closing down. I liked Imperial Scans' work with TG:re. They really improved over time.
I wish the team the best of luck in their future endeavors!

Also, I thought the recent arrest had to do with mangapanda. ANN has an article on it:

Uploading/scanlating 4 days before it is officially released. They are just asking to get caught.

It isn't just mangapada, there was a lot more under the surface than most people aren't aware of. There could be more ripples in the future.

Do i need to become worried about MangaStream´s future? Not only are they the group for the most popular manga right now. No they also took up Imperial´s best series and are a content filled viewer on top. Giants can be toppled easily after all...
(EGScans is also a force of a reader/group but they aren´t carrying the main bread makers of the industry on their shoulders.)

I read the ANN story too and Marvel had a comparable inside leak years ago so this is a worldwide phenomenon: http://bleedingcool.com/2012/02/16/are-the-marvel-pirated-comi cs-an-inside-job/

Groups like Mangastream are in it for the money. If their raw providers get arrested, the money can be traced back to them because these raw providers have to get paid. Without early raws, they'd have to wait until the official release day and that'd mean having to compete with a lot more groups, which makes it less worth it. That's likely why Red Hawk and Imperial Scans closed.

Easy Going Scans though doesn't carry licensed series so I doubt they'll be on anyone's radar, despite how large EGS is (IIRC, it has over 100 members but a lot of staff rotation).
