New Poll - Marrying a Manga Character
This poll was suggested by our member blueshadows. Would you marry a character from anime or manga (or manhwa, manhua, etc)? There's already been cases of this...

Want to describe the love of your reading/watching? You can do so on our forums:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=32105

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Scanlation watermarks
Choices:
I never want to see any watermarks at all - votes: 4602 (31.1%)
Prefer them outside of the boxes - votes: 3572 (24.2%)
Prefer them in the corner somewhere - votes: 3334 (22.6%)
Prefer them in the middle of the page - votes: 42 (0.3%)
Prefer them all over the place - votes: 222 (1.5%)
Watermarks don't matter to me - votes: 3005 (20.3%)
There were 14777 total votes.
The poll ended: February 18th 2012

So 264 votes treated this poll like a joke. Figures... (Unless they really want watermarks in the middle of the page or all over the place)

Either marrying fictional character is dumb or stupid or weird or whatever you think. Personally, i'm wondering: Why the hell did one marry somebody that don't even exist in real world? The person in question must be REALLY infatuated with one of those fictional character(s) so they didn't want other people claim them

thread

Are you asking (1) if this manga/anime character suddenly became real or we suddenly became 2D, would we marry them OR (2) would we marry this drawing on a piece of paper (b/c that has happened) ?

thread

» Seijurou on February 18th, 2012, 12:41pm

I think they mean as-is. Everyone would marry them if they could! XD

thread

» naikan on February 18th, 2012, 3:15pm

Oh, I don't know if I'd marry some of my favorite characters even if they were real. bigrazz

But there's no way I'm going to marry a painted picture of some anime character on a pillow or hump a life-size piece of cardboard. Some have gone that route, but at the end of the day I prefer flesh.

@naikan
That's exactly what I was wondering about too. Right now it doesn't make much sense IMO.

I liked telegrapher's comment in the link. With the increasing lack of truly feminine girls in the real world, it wouldn't be surprising if more people pledge their love to an ideal, gentle virtual person in the future.

'It turns out men do not like being married to other men. Go figure.'

Haha, good one.

thread

Wow, what a sad comment out of touch with reality.

Ummm, honey? I think you might want to re-read their comment smile The yawn indicates boredom, not irritation. They are recognizing that you're just trolling, and saying that it's boring not that it upsets them. But it's okay! Everyone makes mistakes smile

thread

» Seijurou on February 25th, 2012, 8:08am

This is fun! Who the heck replies to someone just to say they are bored? Maybe you need to read the others. Keep them coming.

thread

What the hell does that even mean?

thread

» Caityluu on February 24th, 2012, 5:08am

Actually, they do smile That's why gay marriage is becoming legalized in so many states! And if you want to know where the feminine girls are going.. they're waking up and realizing that straight men are overrated and dating other feminine girls! After all, feminine girls ARE the best, so why wouldn't we want to date each other?

thread

» Seijurou on February 25th, 2012, 8:11am

You need to get out of the U.S. . . .

thread

» Caityluu on February 25th, 2012, 11:36pm

First you complain about the lack of feminine girls, then you say that the feminine girls need to leave. I think you need to make up your mind mister!

thread

» Seijurou on February 26th, 2012, 12:37am

What the . . .? I meant that there are lots of countries where gay marriage is not legalized. Hold your horses, feminist, will you? U mad?

thread

» Caityluu on February 27th, 2012, 11:35pm

No, just confused. Why would I leave this country for ones where gay marriage isn't legal? Honestly, you need to use that logic center of your brain a bit more :/

thread

» Seijurou on February 28th, 2012, 2:27pm

*Sighs* 'When talking with a fool . . .'

I was referring to your obvious ignorance of the laws of many countries, but if I needed to explain myself twice on something very clear, then you have more important things to worry about, such as, ironically, your small brain. You seem to have dyslexia, so let me help you read the following: 'I . . . Am . . . Stupid . . . Really . . . Really . . . Stupid.'

Now if we included eroge chars then I would have a harem ready bigrazz

thread

» sarablack10 on February 18th, 2012, 4:49pm

Don't really understand this one. Is it that I would marry a character that automatically came alive and was real (and more importantly, loved me back) or am I just marrying a concept or idea? Not going to vote. :S

I remember reading somwhere, that some Korean guy married a Christmass Tree and other one his hug pillow...so yeah I'm not really surprised that this topic came into view.
But for me real life FTW..and so does real life girls. wink

PS: Try hugging a piece of paper, to realise that 2D is not a good way to spend your life loving. wink
PPS: Remember to iron that paper after the hug. XD

thread

» Dionaea on February 19th, 2012, 10:26am

Eh?! Seriously O.o I thought they meant if the characters actually became real, but on that bombshell I'm starting to think that might not be the case. Cause if he were a real person I'd marry Yoiyami-kun any day of the week :3 But to actually marry a 2D character... D:

thread

Probably not a point to think about it too much. This one may be a bit over the top. Seems more focused on people whose sole love in life is the 2D world.

thread

» That3rdGuy on February 22nd, 2012, 9:51am

I'm not too partial to getting paper cuts when having "sex"
To those who didn't choose "No, I don't date fictional characters," don't you people know real people you'd rather marry or date or whatever? Life must be pretty bad if you fantasize or desire being with a cartoon over a real person... I can understand if you're 10-years-old or something, but otherwise it's just plain sad, especially if you're an adult. I'm no Casanova, but I'd rather go out a bang a hideous fatty than wish I was with a cartoon chick. Imagine if people really had eyes like that. Creepy! Now, fapping to them is a different story (but the eyes MUSTN'T be huge) It's the acts they perform which is attractive IMO, but that's neither here nor there. I'd rather be with someone who doesn't have G-cups, pink, wild hair and grossly inaccurate, massive eyes. I guess it's just something about a study I read where people find babies cute due in part to their larges eyes in comparison to their head and some connection between sexual attraction, but I can't remember the details. Now, every time I see huge anime eyes, I think of that study. Not to mention it's a cartoon ffs!

So many pedos, huh?

thread

» RiK.dfs on February 22nd, 2012, 6:40pm

And where exactly did that come from?

thread

» Seijurou on February 22nd, 2012, 8:07pm

Do I really need to explain that one?

'People like big eyes' ----> 'Babies have big eyes' ----> 'Sexual attraction results'

thread

» RiK.dfs on February 23rd, 2012, 6:08am

That wasn't really the point of his post though is what I meant.

thread

» Seijurou on February 23rd, 2012, 5:00pm

I know. I just didn't like what he said, such as the last words. He sounded immature.

thread

» gundamgundam on February 23rd, 2012, 12:27pm

Babies don't have big eyes. They have big heads. Babies are born with almost adult-sized eyes, so that is may seem like they have big eyes when in reality it's their heads and other facial features what are disproportionally big compared with the rest of their bodies.

thread

» mattai on February 23rd, 2012, 4:22pm

You're not making any sense at all. I don't see how you could possibly claim they have big heads while simultaneously claiming they don't have big eyes. Both are big relative to the baby and small relative to an adult.

thread

» Seijurou on February 23rd, 2012, 5:06pm

I like where this conversation is going. I agree with mattai. You are being contradictory here. If babies had big heads, they wouldn't be perceived as having big eyes. That doesn't make any sense. Besides, their heads grow in time.

Ah, science . . .

You know, there was a chapter on Franken Fran where a girl got an operation to look just like a certain anime character so that she could win over a celebrity otaku! It was pretty interesting! Also horrifying.

thread

» RiK.dfs on February 24th, 2012, 7:52am

That could be okay.....sometimes......but only in a storyline (if it actually fits in).
Not exactly something people would want to see in real life (at least most people).

If the character somehow became real and it was possible to marry an anime character, and he fit all my requirements for a future husband, then I would go for it. Logically speaking.
