Negima to end after three more chapters
babel writes: So, after nine years, Mahou Sensei Negima! will be ending (but not until the March 15th issue of Weekly Shonen). AKAMATSU Ken will be taking his time to write the three remaining installments. It is uncertain at the moment whether or not these will be extended chapters (as he did with the ending of Love Hina). It is also unknown what, if anything, will follow Negima. Rumors on the anime boards have suggested variously that a 'Negima 2' will be written (with a slightly more adult cast), or that fatherhood has taken it's toll and nothing will be forthcoming for the foreseeable future, though neither of these possibilities has been accompanied by any hard evidence so far...

I for one am very excited. Did you know that Negima was the very first series that I helped scanlate?

Crazy I've been reading it since the beginning... about a decade ago.

Yeah, they could totally have a plot on what happens after 100 years when Asuna wakes up

Ive been reading for quite a long while as well, I think since the dodgeball chapters. Its a bittersweet feeling to see my favorite manga come to a close

sooo... long, probably because of the breaks Akamatsu-sensei took every now and then mmm...

Weird, did the topic with his father got resolved yet? Sorry if this question is stupid, I have only been following the story loosely.

» ylchow on February 3rd, 2012, 5:20pm

Yeah, his father got body jacked by the arch villain

I really am going to miss the series, almost a decade filled with laughs and cries in the story. I hope this series paved the way for something new and better.

I hope for a 15-year old Negi!!

I second that, there has just got to be a Negima II.

I think that should be impossible, since he became an unaging monster...

I completely understand that because honestly, it got boring with the last fight (with dead people getting back usw.) which was just deus ex machina overkill. And there isn't much left to tell (except for the search of his father, which i believe could be handled in negima 2 if there will be such), just hope that the romance issue gets resolved (thank GOD its not asuna)

bigrazz, Jack Rakan was too awesome to be erased. Anyway, this is a light-hearted series lah. Besides, compared to the earlier battles, the last fights were quite brief.

Now that's surprising. Negima is in fact the first adult-oriented manga that i read besides anything else. Let's see whether Negima 2 will be out and satisfy our(Negima's reader) curiousity with Negima's cliffhanger...... or not.

cool, I didn't know that...

Did you know that Negima wasn't one of the first series I scanlated?
/me feels very old now D:
Thanks for that T.T

I hope that the cast will get older if he does a negima 2...more sexier chicks :3
He may stop going: Screw scanlation, I strike (wouldn't be first time he would complain about scanlations, lol)

Well....we had a story for another arc....but he's gonna end it like this, so I wonder how this is gonna work out with his dad and such as the final boss....

There is definitely gonna be a negima 2. But I'm guessing it's gonna be MUCH MUCH more action adventure and fantasy elements.

lambchopsil: "I for one am very excited. Did you know that Negima was the very first series that I helped scanlate?"

Hell, I knew I'd seen your name before when I first joined here, but I couldn't place it exactly. Now I remember, it was at Aquastar when they took over from Meow scans wasn't it? I used to visit their Negima boards quite a lot back then. Good times. You had the amazing Sushi-Y translating back then, and I remember she was kind enough to post the scripts there for those who couldn't wait for the editing (well, until someone started stealing the scripts of course.... same old story eh?).

So long as he ties it all up I'll be reasonably happy/satisfied.

Still in 3 chapters with so much.....

Glad Negima's reaching its conclusion, it just kept dragging on, and on, and on. The whole Magic World arc had a ridiculous amount of exposition for basically nothing.

It was entertaining, yet it's a smart move to end it, we don't want a series that sucks overall because of too much filler, eh?

Let's see if this story continues after the time skip.

thread

» draksig on February 5th, 2012, 4:05am

I hope there is a sequel since I doubt there will be enough time to tie off all of the loose ends. Finding his father, freeing Evangeline, who does negi like?

thread

» M-ols on February 5th, 2012, 11:43am

I hope there is a "season 2" since, as far as I remember, the whole point of the story was that Negi wanted to find his father. Him being a mage and going to a school as a teacher were all results of this if I remember correctly. And I do remember this correctly. He also wanted to resurrect his village if I am not wrong. Sooooo, even if it is logical to end this manga (he was never going to be a permanent teacher, we knew that from the very beginning), the main objectives have not been accomplished.
