New Poll - Preferred Manga Consumption Method
This poll from our member mewarmo990 has a large assumption: money is not an issue. Other than that, it's a poll that may seem pretty familiar. (And lots of big words in the title)
You can discuss this poll on our forums here:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=31487
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903
Previous Poll Results:
Question: Harem in manga
Choices:
Love them! - votes: 2569 (16.7%)
Only like it if it's romance and/or ecchi - votes: 2916 (18.9%)
I like the reverse harem more - votes: 3040 (19.7%)
Hate them all (or tired of them all) - votes: 3890 (25.2%)
Don't really care - votes: 3002 (19.5%)
There were 15417 total votes.
The poll ended: January 21st 2012
Interesting... The results were pretty even. I'm surprised that the reverse harem option got so many votes!

I chose e-book reader but really I prefer using a tablet for manga since it has color and access to the most formats and webpages the way a PC does.

I chose printed, but if time for translation/publication is still an issue then I'll stick with online. The publishing companies don't work fast enough and scanlators pick up series that never reach the companies' radar.

I prefer to read them electronically(be it from tablet or computer) but right now, not much "Official Manga" you can buy(at least not in my country)

Well, I prefer magazine with multiple series, it is faster and all, we also get a gift w/every release
Besides we don't have to wait to start reading/continuing a series. Further more there is always a lot of information and detail about the new starting manga series even anime.

Even without money as an issue, acquiring hard copies is always going to be less convenient than electronic copies.
Via computer, I see a manga I want to read, I start reading it.
With hard copies, I go to an out-of-the-way specialty store, hope they have a copy of what I'm looking for in stock (for all the different volumes as well...), or order online and wait days for it to arrive. And then I have to store all these hundreds of volumes of manga and go searching through them if I want to reread them...

I still prefer them printed (in good quality (not Tokyopop quality)), it still relaxing to read in bed before going to sleep, or in a comfortable chair with a nice drink. An e-book reader is also a nice replacement, certainly if you don't have any space left to put your manga away (book selfs overfull ).
On a computer is annoying, reader that get stuck half way, page that is missing or doesn't load, watermark ( and please no pornografic watermark, this makes it to difficult to read the actual story).
A phone won't be a option for me, (lol) I don't have microscopes in my eyes.
Also, a small remark on the previous poll, wasn't it better to split up Hate them all and Tired of them all (the all preferable dropped). I'm tired of Harem, but I like Bakemonogatari!

There is no better way to watch a manga than on an IPad, which is not one of the choices.
» ebisu on January 21st, 2012, 5:36pm
You should add that oneself does not have space problems or issues. I'd prefer printed volumes really, cause when you focus on a series, you usually want to know what happens next after a single chapter. And if possible in big format or kazenban, like the magazines. That's what makes the computer also a good choice cause it requires limited space and it lets you view them in big.

Which is why, when Borders closed down, I bought 20 over volumes for about less than half price

Consume? Wouldn't obtain be more appropriate? Or procure? I know it's being derived from consumer, but I've never heard consume used in that manner. Just sounds... wrong.
As for the poll, on the computer, because it's free. I also don't need something I'll read once cluttering up my shelf space, especially with some of the off-color, unrelated title pages with half-naked girls. Everyone that comes over to my place would think I'm some pervert.

Right? I thought I was misreading the poll for a second and thought it meant "How do you eat your manga?"
» connerity on January 22nd, 2012, 6:48am
On an E-Book reader, but preferably on an I-pad.
Printed volumes are nice and all, but they take up sooo much space.
You can put the equivalent of about 1300 physical tanks (assuming 200 pages, 1 mb = 8 pages) on a single 32GB SDHC card.

Not enough.
Computer, computer. Anywhere else, tablet or printed media.

I have several series ththat I have both them electronically and printed. Which do I read -- electronic on computer. One series is still in its original shipping wrapper. I am glad the author gets credit but I don't have to remember which book shelf it is on and when traveling, it is much easier.

I'd actually prefer if you got the e-book too when buying the physical volume, I love having volumes, but I don't take them with me on the bus and train to University, which is where I read manga most often... I usually read on my computer now, but I'd prefer being able to read everything on my e-book, for now I have to turn the books into pdfs myself though, which is why I only have my favorites on my reader...
