New Poll - Non-Manga Reading
This week's poll is a suggestion from our member achyif. Compared to your other reading intake, is manga proportionally more or less? For me, I tend to read novels much more than manga, especially since I own an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)

Of course, the winner would be manga since we're a manga site. But after that, 2nd most popular is a bit of romance~

I put "about the same" because there is no option for "I listen to audbiobooks more than I read manga."

I used to read a ton of novels; now I listen to a lot of audiobooks and rarely read... I can't work/do chores/anything menial or repetitive without my audiobooks anymore.

I read way more novels than I do manga. I read for a hour or two every night to wind down, and I carry my kindle everywhere I go, so I always have my nose stuck in a book if I can. I read a lot of manga as well, but my first love will always be novels.

About the same..I think
I read a lot of manga and novel, but content wise Novel and Light novel have a lot more content.
1 volume of novel normally cover from beginning to ending or ending an arc,if you think about it, we get more from Novel.I feel more sense of satisfaction reading Novel due to this. While manga will be...."I need the next one now!"

I chose about the same because I read everything. I love reading though novels are my favourite I do read mangas, magazines, newspapers and occasionally I'll read essays (which aren't as boring as they sound)

I'm currently reading much more novels, since I've kinda exhausted the supply of mangas which interest me. (over 200 series read)

I read 77 books and about 40 manga last year.

Which is not counting what I read on the computer.

I put "about the same." I'm a creative writing major, so I read a lot of student work as well as published literature for all my English classics. On my iBook app, I'm also always downloading free public domain lit!! smile wink grin (I'm a classics junkie!!) Plus, I read a lot of stories on Fictionpress and Wattpad, so those count, too. Still, I read a lot of manga. Not so much lately because I get into these FP-WP-MU love triangle-y phases. laugh

I put about the same, although I may read more non-manga stuff. If you include forums and news and tech blogs and the like.

I read more manga now, but I could never give up on my novels! biggrin
Actually sometimes I could say it's about the same, only more because it's easy to breeze through several manga volumes in a short amount of time.
Probably not as much when I'm busy with studies, but that's a given.

I put about the same. I mean, I am a student. Textbook and articles don't come in manga version although if they did, they'd be way more interesting.

At the moment, I'm reading more manga. My novel reading increases a lot over the summer though. I usually end up blasting 600+ pages books in a few days when I have nothing to do. But yeah, I'm in a manga mood at the moment so I've been reading more than usual recently.

About the same for me.
I've read over a hundred novels, but a lot of manga as well.
The comparison is difficult because sometimes I read loads of novels one after the other, not reading much manga. Other times I read loads of manga and not much novels.
Never both at the same time. Write now im reading loads of manga, but if I look at it overall I'd say about the same. biggrin

Used to read about as much manga as I read novels... That all changed when I bought an eReader and (later) discovered fanfiction ^.^
Now I've fallen so far behind on many anime and manga that I'm not sure if I'll even bother catching up (if I had the time to do so).

I choose "I read manga more", but not because i don't read much books or the like, just because i read A LOOOT, of manga, like 600 pages a day when i'm busy, while writing this i'm reading three manga at the same time, i take a break from one in my reader and go to the one i'm reading online to later pass to the one i have on my hands, etc....

Also, i prefer Detectives, Fantasy and SciFy books, but that's not of matter here right?

About the same I guess? I read more manga stories but that's because novels and the like take longer to finish.

thread

» Hanae on January 14th, 2013, 9:04am

I read more books, definitely. This may be a strange comparison, but books are like my true love while manga is... a very good friend, I guess. And since I got a Kindle I read even more (I tried reading manga on Kindle but it's not very convenient).

Unfortunately, I don't read as much manga as I used to in the past.
Regardless of that, regular books have been in my life far longer and in a more consistent way (i.e, I can buy pretty much anything I want without worrying if it's ever going to get aptly translated).
If we're touching the matter of poems, I'll say that for the most part, I'm not a fan.

More than I read manga, that's for sure. One word, 'fanfiction'. bigrazz

I'm part of the rare group that only reads manga. I never really liked reading much, and would only do it for school. The reason I got into manga is because I wanted to see how the anime I was watching ended.
