(8 posts, 2763 views) Posted: over 9 years ago by tallrice in Claymore
I haven't read claymore for a while, I'm also one of the reread the whole series just to get into the atmosphere of the latest chapters, so I stockpile a number of volumes before getting into it again, but I do remember the author saying he was more than halfway through t...
Do you consider piƱata as animal abuse?

Quote from Sapphiresky
Pinatas actually have deep roots in the history of animal abuse. The origin of pinatas were in Iceland to train seal clubbers who were so very hesitant to kill the poor little animals. Impoverished families would buy pinatas for their kids so that th...

This is one of the central aspects of an anime called Shinreigari: Ghost Hound, maybe you're thinking of a manga of that series (not sure if there's a manga or not)?

A female lead who is secretly strong?

It's perhaps more like a shounen, so might not fit your interests, but the plot is about a secretly physically strong female lead and it's pretty fun, Mrs Angel
Helps me. Bored. Need mangazz.

The Friendly Winter
Gunka no Balzer

Two series I really like, so maybe try them out? Both are sort of slice and life, though Gunka is set in 19th century war time Prussia. The stories are fairly slow p...
Manga that Scarred you for Life

If any series did that to me, it was either berserk, which I first tried to read when I was about 15 and was pretty shocked (later on I tried reading it again, when I was around 20 and it has since become my favourite series, but was a bit too powerful when I was younger....

Yeah, Vudoodude, you're right, it's last fantasy. Hmm... so it ended there... that's sort of depressing, and even though I finally found it. I'm really impressed you picked it out!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Actually, another friend of mine thought of Gate - I think it was actually me who added gate to MU, a year back... but this manga is different.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - I don't remember any modern elements in this series. I just meant that the way the mangaka depicted bui...

Thanks BlackOrion, I hadn't thought to look through the dragon tag, so that should have been my first point of reference.

I would love to have said, 'Perfect, I found it and it's this one..." but... I can't seem to find it among any of the dragon tagged manga. I don't kno...

I read a manga a long time ago, I believe in 2005 or 6. So it's a pretty old series.

The premise was really generic fantasy setting, there was a hero who was meeting a red dragon, I believe. They actually meet the dragon right off the bat, in the first or second chapter, I...

(5 posts, 2180 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by tallrice in Recruitment
There are many groups scanlating webtoons and manwha, these groups can always use more translators.

Egscans (huge number of korean series, both webtoons and manhwa - I personally am in this group, so I can vouch for the friendly community there.)

favorite Scanslator group
(205 posts, 47654 views) Posted: over 11 years ago by tallrice in Manga General
So, let me make a philosophical blurb first: scanlators who scanlate my favourite series are not the same as my favourite scanlators. In fact, the more I like the series, the more I get disappointed if the releases aren't really good quality, good speed, etc. so I am a mu...

Well, this doesn't sound exactly like your description, but in Honey Bitter the girl reads minds, is definitely a misanthropist, and solves crimes/murders. I don't remember if there was anything about a metro though. And it's not a Seinen, but...

So, I had started reading this manga about a woman who could read minds, almost 5 years ago now. And I completely forgot what the manga was.

What I remember about it was a woman who read the minds of people around her and she was deeply disturbed by others and a kind of mi...

Well, just to add my own comments:

I do agree with you that this is rather important. In fact, one of my criterias for determining how much I like a manga is how internally consistent it is as well as how realistic it is within the framework it makes for itself. In other w...
