Description
From Yen Press:
Saki's never been a big fan of mahjong. A lifetime of being forced to play with family on holidays (and losing her money as a consequence) has left a foul taste for the game in her mouth. When she's convinced, though, to play a game with her classmates, she discovers that not only has fended off her family left her with an uncanny ability for the game but, more surprisingly, that it can even be fun. Is this revelation enough to cleanse Saki's distaste for the game? Can her classmates convince her to join their club, or is there just too much baggage to make it worth her while... More...

It certainly doesn't match up to Hikaru no Go or Shion no Ou, but it's an okay manga nonetheless. Quite a bit of fan service, and some of it is really kinda .. ;; Mainly this one girl who has huge boobs. I'm a girl, so that kind of excess doesn't really appeal to me. The art is nice, asides from veering into ecchi occasionally. Or perhaps even shoujo-ai-ish-ness? There are no strong guy characters yet, so I'm interested to see if that will change.
The plot looks relatively interesting, though often the manga veers into cliched drama. For example, there's one scene in a recently released chapter where Saki's walking along and all of sudden a group of girls has an extreme reaction to her presence... but there's no explanation for the reaction (like a picture of her aura, or even them saying how skilled she must be, etc..). It's obviously the manga-ka trying to show how powerful Saki is, but instead of making me impressed it just makes me cynical.
There's not much substance to the manga, either. It really doesn't seem very realistic, and there isn't much to the manga besides fan service and Saki's pwnage of other people (plus changes in her character that again, aren't well-developed). There is some humor (like the original premise), that pop out. But, it doesn't quite make up for its flaws.
Still, for what it's worth--a simple, sometimes amusing, kinda cute mah jong-centered manga--it's decent. I wouldn't expect much to arise out of it, but it looks like it'll be a fun ride.

But... where is the rest !? Too bad really that this serie scanslation has been discontinued, it looked pretty interesting (and SnoopyCool comment seems to indicate it lives up to its promises).
Will someone takes up the burden ?

The main character is a girl and this one is "Harem"? Isn't it supposed to be "Reversed Harem"? With that being said, the drawing does suggest this as a Shounen Harem. I just hope that this does not turn out to be a stereotypical Shounen coated with Mahjong elements.
Has something special

I've actually really wanted to translate Saki for about 6 months now, so I'm glad that it's available for all of the non-English speakers out there. It has a certain something that I've never really been able to put my finger on that draws me to it.
Seeing Saki and the rest of the Mahjong Club grow throughout the manga is a pleasure and I hope that it can keep up the quality storytelling from now on as well. I highly recommend it.
