Sherlock + Hobbit

Even though I can't read Japanese, the intent behind this manga is so obvious I can't miss it. This is a manga-fied RPF of the actors behind Sherlock and The Hobbit. Despite the language barrier, this had me laughing out loud. The art was very expressive and so pretty. "Maeda" looks utterly adorable!

I hope to see this translated someday.

Edit: This has since been translated. Can't say I missed much, though! (but the twitter and online forum bits were great)

You Can't Get More Postmodern Than This

1. THE F**** BEAUTIFUL ART. It has been, truly has been, a long, LONG, time since I saw such amazing art. I love you, NEKO Hakushaku sensei. (And THANK YOU Kiri Bagginshield--translator)
2. Well, I was going to write a long essay on why it is a postmodern work but I am tired so I will keep it short.
Basically, Neko-sensei's incorporation of twitter to allow for a self-reflexive mode of thought which the characters within the manga used in order to understand the particulars of the fujoshis want. Add, on to this the fact, as 801crazed http://www.mangaupdates.com/members.html?id=299689 as pointed out that this is a materialization of RPF (Real Person Fanfiction) of Sherlock and Hobbit, which is a particular fantasy of Neko-sensei. True, this is obvious otherwise we won't have the ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL manga, but the my point is that through out the manga Neko-sensei leaves hints for us, while the characters themselves are also aware of their situation. And since this is a manga which is a RPF involving British actors, there is also the element of Convergence at work here.
3. I LOVE THIS (*.*). Fujoshi mode overload. I hope there's a squeal.

Excellent art! Real looking characters (a little enhanced maybe, right, cobra-chan?), the connection to real life and the situational comedy is hilarious. Happy ending also. I really love this.

I only start reading it because of the graphics that I find very appealing, and also cause of the "oyaji" of course!! I was so sure that it was going to be a quick Macho Lust yaoi to satisfy my curiosity, but then after one chapter, then two and still no sex?? I was quite pleased but doubtful at the same time?! I was starting to fear for the worst...

I like to see big virile men in a certain extent, but it also come with the price of being too hardcore in every single way and/or rapidly too sexplicit. So I was wondering if it was really written by a man.. But never mind all that, because even for a yaoi, the mangaka managed to create the sensual tension that I think is lacking in too many manga of the genre. It was also funny to see characters show some restraint in their actions.

Mamoru-chan!! He's only old in age and a young old I'd say. He redden quite often and don't even get me started on the crying easily!! The way he's drawn is cute, maybe too much for my taste, cause he looks like a student who doesn't get that much of sleep with his panda eyes. And last but not least, his goatee doesn't suit him.
Now Shirasu Christopher... I'm so lovin' his name, roll on the intermingling. He's good, the way he acts towards mama-chan, he seems like one fine fellow.

To sum up, older guy vs half-blood guy, nevertheless still manly, the mangaka just did what I like best!!

god he's so FUNNY. i cant get over him

personally im not into the demon dubcon fantasy in the later chapters and would have prefered it be more explicitly consenual, but its brief and if theyre both into it, who's to judge, thats the tiniest nitpick, lmao. plus mamo getting a boner at this deep voice booming through the set is so relatable. yeah me too.

as an ex superwholock i will say with plenty of shame that i agree with the other review. there ARE some... incredibly interesting parallels between the source materials and the appearances of the characters to... certain OTHER real life actor, and i have no idea how to feel about that plus to even DISCUSS IT id have to admit seeing that connection in the first place. but its pretty fucking funny. the idea that shirashu publishes RPF himself ... did come off a /tiny/ bit invasive to me? but again, luckily maeda ended up being into it lmaooo. i relate to him a lot.
