Description
From Yen Press:

Everyone knows about the story of Scheherazade and her wonderful tales of the Arabian nights. For one thousand and one nights, she entertained the mad Sultan with the adventures of Aladdin, Ali Baba, Sinbad, genies, and many other mystical creatures. But what if Scheherazade was actually a boy desperate to save his sister’s life? What kind of strange things would he do to make sure that he survives to tell the tale? This new twist on one of the greatest classical folk tales just might keep you awake for another One Thousand and One Nights.

This is really explicit but i can't get it out of my mind
in chapter 2, did Sehara got raped after being whipped?
Or was sultan just rubbing the ointment on his scars?
The conversation with his younger sister made this more suspicious.....

Shahyrar (how do you pronounce that anyway...?) said it for me when he complained that Sehara's stories were all tragic love stories... since I don't like angst, the story in this title is a bit heavy for me, but still quite well told. Volume 7 threw me for a loop with the anachronism, but otherwise I'm just willing to go with the flow and let Sehara tell his story, if only to see what Shahyrar's reaction to it will be. After all, the format is really similar to the original 1001 nights, so why should we complain?

[update] Coming back to this after quite a while... and having read Volume 9... I must add that the little we get of the main story in each volume is frustrating. It's just enough to awaken your interest, but not nearly enough to whet your appetite. The side stories do have a point to them, but right now I rather wish I could have more of the main story instead. The suspense is killing me!

i really really really like this manga. but the fact that i am very interested in myths, folklores, etc, might be a big factor on my why i love this manga. plus, i really liked the real book (1,001 Nights). the art is awesome too. My only complaint is that the stories are sort of.. um, well, i dunno, for me, the stories were kind of out of place.. like the transition to the storytelling was a bit awkward?? ANYWAYS, nevertheless, i am still giving it a 10/10

the main story is good, the side stories are good too. But mixing them together is a bit too much. Also its pretty much a bunch of tragic love stories where no one ends up happy, so if you're into that sort of thing then you're probably a masochist.

Seriously, 1/4 of the manhwa is the main story and 3/4 is side stories that the Sehara tells in between the main story. It kind of annoys me because i really want to know what happens next in the main story, but i like the side stories too. The stories are all folktales and myths that supposed to tell a moral or a lesson that Sehara tries to teach. Although, I don't really get the actual morals =.=;;, i don't think i'm smart enough. It is unbelievable that anybody just can suddenly stop and listen to Sehara's random stories. He must have amazing persuasive powers. I also like the author's writing at the end of the book. I learned many things from that; he talks about some pretty deep stuff sometimes.

Story --- 4
Art --- 9
Characters --- 3

The story is pretty unrealistic and use the so know Sheherazade story. The mangaka could have changed it to fit here one story and to make it original but she (I think she is a she) obviously hasn't bother to do that. There is nothing original on this one. Even in some clichê mangas with "bad done" characters they tend to have something original on their story. This one I can't find it, other than such small details that give a 4 to the story.
The best part, like in many other mangas, is the art (who wasn't done by the mangaka). I have already seen better art on this genres but again, this is a question of tastes.
The characters, well... they are as bad as the story. The uke is weak and blush alot, like many other uke, the only diference is that this one is prety worst and more unrealistic like if the author was coping the clichês ukes but exaggerating their personalitys. The seme was (and sorry for my expression) a bastard. An yes, there is bad people with good developted personality but the mangaka isn't good enough and hasn't the talent to do that. She wanted to create (or so I think) a character aparently bad but who whas a deep and good heart or who will redempt in the end because ... welll... he isn't that "bad". The problem is she failed considerably on doing that.
I hope you, after reading it. don't bother to try to read this manga.

So far so good (read: amazing) for me, though I haven't finished the series and there were some parts that kind of threw me. I'm especially fond of the arc with Socrates and Acibiades. The art is fabulous and the characters are charming, within the tales and outside of them. Read if you want to see settings not typical to yaoi manga.

Totally agree with naikan. The stories get more timid and unrealistic chapter by chapter, and this manga is no shounen-ai, except the fact that they transformed Shahrazad into a boy (but still with a girl's mind O_+)

I'd be glad to give it a 3, however the story in volume 6 deverses a 5. So after all it's 5.

It started out with a lot of promise, but the stories dragged on and had little originality, the plot jumped from place to place erratically, and it's pumped full of unrealistic actions and melodrama. Anyone looking for story instead of "wow bishies sparkle sparkle" should probably skip this.

I lOVE LOVE LOVE this manwha...!

The plot, the art...EVERTHING is so UNIQUE! and yes, there are some Shounen-ai moments but the plot is what really drags the readers into reading it. I'm NOT a Yaoi/shounen-ai fan myself, but I still read it cuz the story is incredibly ADDICTIVE.

I agree with blueseeker, this manwha is WORTH to be licensed...I've just EVEN purchased vol.1-4 of the manwha from amazon a few minutes ago cuz I can't resist reading WHAT'S NEXT!!
