Jawbreaker is competently executed with a hooky premise. But Glasses has to be one of the most innately detestable MCs I've seen in a yaoi manga. While his disillusionment and sexual hangups are understandable, his degree of callousness and lack of introspection (despite apparent intelligence), is astounding. He admits to the other MC that the only reason he was ever friends with him is because he wanted to stay close to his dad?? I'm sorry what?? Personally the level of distrust and displeasure I would feel at this revelation would be unparalleled. I suppose their sexual relation was just beginning to fly at this point, and they didn't seem that close to begin with, but I did find it totally destructive to the moral fiber of glasses. Chaotic and morally questionable characters are fine, but you can't expect to tie up a yaoi manga with this set up into a squeaky clean bow in a chapter or two. Glasses needed far more of a redemption arc than experiencing erectile dysfunction with the lust of his life and then getting fucked by a stranger and taking a single key of cocaine... But it's a single volume yaoi and I've read far less entertaining with much worse sex scenes. Yea it gets a 6 I guess...

I love this mangaka's art. The way she draws male bodies is so alluring, and even just seeing her characters sharing a kiss is drawn in such an intimate way that it makes me blush. It's so great that the kiss is the most intimate aspect of this manga, even though there is plenty of smut. It makes the emotions real and the audience knows before the characters do as to what they really feel and want inside.

I really appreciate how real this manga feels in terms of the characters' relationships with one another and their personal hangups with romance and intimacy. Logan is an awkward virgin who quickly falls in love and quickly gets burned, making him mature quite quickly. He still retains this sense of innocence, however, a quality he shares with his father and what attracts Daniel in the first place. Daniel, on the other hand, is a bit twisted and pretends to be calm and collected while he has not come to terms with his sexuality. Despite being like night and day, Daniel and Logan interact easily and banter just like good old friends. They are honest and open with one another despite the complications they face, which is a breath of fresh air in the BL world. The story unfolds easily and has a satisfactory ending, although it did feel slightly clipped.

I realized after finishing this series that the characters and their dynamic reminded me a lot of Tamaki and Kyouya from Ouran Host Club LOL. I did ship those characters secretly, so this manga was like a treat to me xD
