I'm not really into bdsm, i can't stand being hurt or the one to hurt but i'm curious with the story. I think being into this kind of relationship is so deep, i mean being a masochist requires a lot of excitement on being extremely hurt and the sadist bears that responsibility to not bore their partner, i think it's exhausting and they have to have lot of trust to each other or else nothing will happen. So my conclusion is BDSM is requiring deep trust and passion. Well i'm still not into this kink but i learned a lot.

Really, now, that so many people think anything about this manga is "consensual" makes me fear for our planet's collective sanity.
Anyway, this kind of manga is about a dime a dozen, so I'll try to be brief. The so-called "consensual" relationship in this manga begins with the seme, a certified surgeon (let that sink in for a moment), blatantly LYING to the uke about him having hepatitis. Hepatitis, I might add, that is the direct result of the seme's own malpractice. The REASON he tells this very serious lie for which he should be serving prison time is because he wanted to keep the uke at the hospital in order to molest and rape him in the privacy of his own hospital room. Apparently, when he stitched up the uke's wound, the uke got hot, leading the seme to believe that the uke was secretly a masochist. Therefore, the seme saw it as his civic duty to "release" the masochistic desires of the uke by forcefully detaining and sexually abusing him. THAT is the beginning of this "consensual" relationship. I kid you not. You can't make this stuff up. Of course, the uke objects to being assaulted at first, but that doesn't make it rape or anything because he secretly wants it. And when the uke actively starts seeking more sexual attention from the seme, that's not Stockholm syndrome or anything; clearly, that's "true love." Or something.
Look, I'm not saying you can't enjoy your mindless smut. I enjoyed the smuttiness of this one quite a bit, although it DID start to get boring toward the end because, despite the "kink of the chapter" set up, the author rushed through each scene as if her only concern were forcing as much crazy sex into each chapter as possible. I'm just saying that, as (hopefully) cognitive beings, we can't simply go out into society, point out individuals to whom we are sexually attracted and say, "S/he's a masochist," and then proceed to molest the object of our affection to "bring out her/his masochistic side." I'm sorry, but that just isn't something that can happen. And, furthermore, you should understand this, Mr. Hotshot Surgeon Seme: A lot of us get hot while having wounds sewn up. And I don't mean sexually. Wanna know why? Because it's fricking painful and nerve-wracking and terrifying! Who the hell wouldn't get a little flushed when goddamned needles are being dragged in and out of their skin? Doesn't mean they're turned on! Yeesh!
So yeah, the art was good for a yaoi, and the smut was decent in this one, at least for a time, but I'm so pissed by the awful depictions of an allegedly "consensual" relationship that this one gets a 3 from me. My best advice for people into BDSM but not the creepy-ass justifications of rape and molestation is to look at the pictures and ignore the dialogue entirely.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is only okay, but having 1) BDSM content that's 2) consensual is tough to find in yaoi manga, so this gets points from me just for that. It's also nice to see someone really having fun with piercings!

I've always had a slight interest in BDSM (i have a biting and minor bondage fetish D: i swear i must be an m at heart...) so this was right up my ally, but i was surprised to find it had romance in it :3 which is why i like this manga so much. Its not particularly good, theres not much plot and we only really get to know the two main characters, but it has some pretty awesome smut scenes throughout and the complex relationship between the main characters amuses me. Sadist meets Masochist, falls in love, has lots of fun. End of story? xD But really, if you do have a kink for BDSM this is pretty good - not the best out there but still decent.

i mean, its not particularly deep on any level, but it's rare enough to see consensual BDSM in BL that i am excited just by that. i don't agree that the seme is mean and the uke weak and girly; the seme actually does everything he does because the uke honestly likes it -- and he gives him the choice to leave before he starts to get serious. and the uke actually says "no" to another guy who wants to do it with him -- ok, so he doesn't free himself, he needs his seme to rescue, i give you that. the uke also admits to liking what the seme does to him, instead of denying it to the bitter end. so this is definitely a step up from the usual.
still, i wasn't impressed by anything else; kabutomaru's art is run of the mill (though blissfully she does not censor herself!), and while there is a bit of exploration of pain/pleasure, i'm much too used to more in-depth treatments of BDSM in western m/m to consider this a personal favourite. but for BL, this is a decent intro to BDSM (tori maia is much more hardcore and gets into blood play and branding; i wouldn't recommend that to any newcomer). i am rating it higher than i would normally do because it really does do better in its treatment of BDSM than most BL, and deserves praise for that.

If you want hardcore BDSM psychology with complex interactions of self and other delivered with goregous art and brilliant narration techniques, read Tori Maia’s Hoshi no Yakata (Palace of Stars). I cannot rave enough about that work of art.
If you want to be titillated by BDSM situations in a yaoi stereotype story, this one is bang-on! It’s light, fast-paced and noncommittal enough that it won’t shock someone unfamiliar with the more deliciously ‘severe’ side of BDSM complexity. The plot is predictable; the characters are stereotyped; but I found no qualm with any of it. The mangaka only promises light and entertaining and that is what is delivered.
What is exceptional about this manga is that it is fascinatingly detailed with a few of the ‘beginner’ tools and their uses, along with hints of the psychology beneath the smutty art work! Yum.

I found this to be an unusually hot SM story. Of course the seme and uke looked D/s. This is about a sadistic seme and a masochistic uke. Duh. Usually stories like these don't focus on the pain and sexual side of the relationship so much, and too, there's usually not love and trust shown. I didn't find the seme to be mean per se, so much as loving to give his uke the pain he desired. They were meant for each other. I can see some people not appreciating this kind of relationship though.

I found this pretty boring despite the steamy plot. It's been done to death. Mean seme and weak girly uke. The seme is mean out of love and the uke takes it of course and learns to love it. Pretty cliched and the art isn't anything to write home about. Okay for a quick read, but nothing I'd keep.
