Description
Koizumi Kanna is infatuated with the man who came to the restaurant she works at and ordered a burger with no onions. Little does she know, Toujou Ren is interested in her as well, but for a different reason. Kanna just so happens to be the mirror image of a woman he knew a very long time ago. It is for that reason that he saves her when she nearly dies in a car accident. But the life he gives Kanna is far different from the one she lived before, and she's not certain it's the kind she wants...

I enjoyed the manga up till the very end where I felt majorly disappointed. Though a over all good read with awesome artwork...the ending just freaking bit the big one. I am so mad.

when i first started reading this, i had the feeling that something wasnt right about this one... i read it all the way to the end, in the middle it redeemed itself and in the end it just went crap.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
the whole way the mangaka portraid the whole reincarnation thing and using the brother to remember her lost memories was just stupid,

it just didnt seem thought out enough and although i got the message i didnt like the way it was portraid and it just made the whole thing lame.

the story was all over the place in sections also, but thats fine cause you just had to piece it together but it got a little frustrating when i thought to myself, huh.. how did that happen and id have to reread to make sure i didnt skip something, but i didnt really have to the manga just glossed over some important bits, i think it was trying to go for mysterious .. but it wasnt it was just being glossy.

what romance there is no real romance,
Spoiler (highlight to view)
she has a crush on him and then hates him for 95% of the manga. then her reincarnated memories make her love him .. and they spend 100s of years looking for each other only to kill each other again but tis eternal love ... wtf ... lameness.

vampires are one of my favorite themes and this just didnt do it for me, i was intrieged originally because people said it wasnt just that whole "chick falls head over heals for a vampire" type manga, which it wasnt but it wasnt good either, i had to give it 4 because it did keep me reading to find out what happened, and i liked the parts where it was explaining their past that was interesting, but my overall impression is "Meh.."

I love this mangaka's work. It's always got that dark, gothic, and sad kind of taste to it. I liked this story, it was very interesting and amazingly it HELD my interest, since I don't usually like vampire stories with the same annoying girl-falls-in-love-with-vampire plot. I'm glad this one was so different and unique. Like some people already said, my only complaint would be that the story was so CONFUSING and murky... but oh well, it just added to the mysteriousness I guess. This is definitely a very heavy and mature romance manga, not your light happy-go-lucky shoujo kind of read.

I agree with albeitalways, this is really good. I enjoy that it is different and not a "love will win" happy ending. It has dept. Although I also agree in the fact I wish the mangaka would have went into a little more detail about the boy with the toy and how it is all connected, I feel the mangaka probably felt rush to finish it.

Either way, I am glad I read it. Well worth it.

I honestly don't get why are people complaining on this manga, particularly because it didn't end up as a teenage shoujo vampire-loves-hapless-girl? Um, hello, not all mangas have to end up as clichés, which is GOOD, to most of us jaded readers out there.

Personally, this is one of the best vampire mangas I've read around, even more so than Vampire Knight. It has everything, mystery, intrigue, horror and a little bit of psychological thinking as well. If that's not your cup of tea, then stay away from this one.

It has fairly mature themes as well, so if things like 'rape', senseless killing, and all that stuff isn't something you can stomach, then don't even read it.

My only complaint, as others have pointed out already, is that the ending seems too 'loose'. The manga-ka could have done a better job in explaining more about this whole 'life, death and revenge' business, instead of shoving in a chapter that barely ties the loose ends and has more open-ended holes instead.

Still, the sum is more than the total of its parts, so I have to say, despite the lousy ending (the lack of explanation for all that mysterious, intriguing 'past' ) , it still makes up for it and this manga is one of the better, gothic vampire stories I've read for a long time. wink

And yeah, I agree with destati, maybe the whole universe--or Kanna and Ren's universe, is inside that kid's toy.

A weird reincarnation story

Vampires, reincarnations and all about karmas are basically the center of this manga. Can't bring myself to understand the last part. Who start it first? Can't understand that part. Could have been a lot better if the mangaka doesn't feel like she has to make things complicated. I am completely disappointed but still give 8 because the first part is so good until the last 2-3 chapters.

"Souls will never die, and will never be reincarnated. They will just continue through different places... This is retribution."
Very hard to understand at first. But I got into it after a while.
It deals with the belief of reincarnation, and somehow with higher beings.
Decide on your own what you conceive of it.

Could have been better

The beginning of this manga started out a little slow and sketchy, then the story picked up about the 3rd or 4th chapter, it really started to get interesting then it really gripped my attention at about the end of volume 1 and the star of volume 2. then the last 2 chapters were confusing and vague, I had to go back and reread them for them to make any sense at all.

what could have been a good story but IMO it wasn't dark enough and the whole story the way it was done here would have been done better in 1 volume.

Vampires, love, dark secrets, crime and punishment... This manga includes everything which makes you think. You will be surprised if you read it and you'll be also depressed, especially if you read it to the end. The story is more than an average vampire story full of clichés because it depicts well a very interesting and difficoult relationship between immortals (who can die and hurt easily indeed). The emphasis lays on the personality and the past of the main characters and is very detailed, though, I didn't get bright answers to all of my questions at the end of the manga.

I personally thought this manga was a really enjoyable read(It is, after all, one of my favorite manga). Vampires are some of my favorite subjects to read in books/manga, and I quite liked the way this series portrayed them. Sure, there's a lot of drama and there are a few loose ends lying around, but I think that the point of this manga goes beyond the story of the characters themselves.

I would love to go into a whole analysis on the series, but that would involve a lot of spoilers, and I'm tired:/ So I'm just going to say that this manga was very lovely: it had endurable artwork(even pretty at some points), an eerily dark background story, a lot of inter-related characters, and vampires.

It's just the right sort of manga to read when you need something to mull over for hours and finish the series in one sitting.
