Description
Ms. Aoshika is not only divorced, but an underappreciated teacher at her job. But one drunken mishap leads her to witness firsthand the brutal assault and murder of a young man. However, after fainting, she awakens to discover that all of the assailants have been seriously wounded.
And to her further surprise, the next day she discovers that not only is the young man, Akira, she met the night before alive, but he is now her new transfer student.
"Wolf Guy - Ookami no Monshou" is a modern adaptation of Wolf Guy (SAKAGUCHI Hisashi) in a more violent and sinister setting.

Cliched, yet not so cliched.

This story is a rather interesting one. what makes it so interesting is it's make up. It has the usual cliches we would see in mangas however considering it is a werewolf story it doesn't have the usual cliches involved in that kind of story. For instance when everyone thinks of werewolves, we always think of a berserk half man half beast, but in this story that's not the case. Inugami is highly intelligent, even more so when he transforms into a werewolf. Then there is his non-confrontational attitude as a wolf as well. It is very unlike unusual werewolf stories I've ever seen like "American Werewolf in London" as an example. He's an extremely calm and collected character for being a werewolf. The story is very complex, yet not at the same time. In all honesty this is probably one of the few stories where you really would have to give it time to get through and see it's true beauty. But in order to do that though you still have to keep in mind that it's looks are slightly deceiving. What seems the same to us all the time is not necessarily so in regards to this story since it's a side that hasn't really been done before in regards to the werewolf genre.
Repetitive, No Movement in Plot; Wasted Art Talent

The art was vivid, dark and dramatic, if clichéd. Alas, the story was so repetitive and lacking in substance, curiosity and movement that I had to force myself to finish the first two volumes in order to give it a fair try.

I agree that the violence and sexism is over the top, but the story does not lack in depth and character development. Inugami's contradictory attitude was a bit off where he tried to avoid fights and be low key only by provoking the gangs with his tough-ass attitude. That's now how you act when you want to be low-key.
However, the change in his attitude is a nice development, along with his obvious interest in the teacher. As long as the character development continues to unfold, I don't mind the exaggerated violence.
And as far as originality goes, everything has already been done before - the guns, the gangs, the werewolves. Cliches are unavoidable.

I can't really speculate on what I actually think of this manga yet.. Sure, it IS a bit vulgar in some areas but I don't know. I find Inugami to be an interesting character along with the teacher. There's just something about those two that I find "attractive." There seems to be a story somewhere so I'm just gonna wait and see what will happen next. But there's some seriously beautiful artwork here. Nothing like I've ever seen before, really.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Wolf Guy…what a strange beast it is. I find myself captivated by it in spite of its glaring, myriad flaws.
The series is shameless in its gratuity--almost pornographic, really. The author can't go one volume without showing Ms. Aoshika’s tits, or attempted rape, or someone jizzing themselves. Likewise with the violence; there's a masochistic undertone to the beatings Inugami takes, seeing how pointlessly brutal they are.
Clearly, this is a Seinen suffering from Sekirei Syndrome--there are several more mature series done far more tastefully. A lot of the graphic elements feel tacked on for little more than shock value.
None of the characters are particularly original or appealing. Some are interesting—Haguro and his slutty girlfriend come to mind—but only for being so over-the-top and unrelatable. Inugami himself is an unlikeably pompous bastard; Ms. Aoshika’s only interesting traits are A) her massive tits, B) getting raped when she was younger, and C) her pedophilic, fanservicey lust for Inugami.
The plot feints in potentially interesting directions…but it’s usually centered around Inugami being a jerkass, getting knocked around, turning into a wolf, and pretending he doesn’t want to fuck his teacher. The author tries mightily to make him seem relatable, but it’s all stuff we’ve seen before (“He was born under an unlucky star! He’s scared of trusting people! He’s an alienated youth in a non-traditional family setting!”).
And yet.
Given all that, of the half-dozen non-Jump series I’m reading, it’s the only manga I’ve marathoned and caught up with. Vinland Saga, in contrast, was vastly superior right out of the gate, and I’m still content reading a chapter a day. Why is that?
The incredible artwork, for one thing. It’s a damn shame the artist is being wasted on such a crappy story—there are several stunning moments throughout the work. One can only imagine the things they could do with a more capable partner.
But beyond that, it’s basically popcorn. For all the story’s flaws and preachy pretentiousness, it’s fun to just sort of breeze through it with your brain turned off and enjoy the ride.
Thus, while every instinct tells me to say otherwise, I can’t give this any less than a 7.5.

I mean, this manga is so unshamefully over the top. Inugami is this invincible yet deeply troubled angsty teenager, and Ms. Aoshika is this teacher who has extremely disproportionate body parts that it's not even funny (in the latest chapters her bo0bs are so huge to the point of distraction). Throw in some middle school gangsters, a middle school s|ut, a LOT of gratuitous naked scenes and very detailed violence and Wolf Guy is what you get. The whole manga (so far) is one big bag of cliche. The art is the only thing it's got going for it.
I can list ten, no, TWENTY things that make this manga suck, but God knows why I can't stop reading it. Is it the bare and simple plot? Is it the awesome art? Whatever it is, I keep getting back to this piece of crap for new releases. Shame on me.

Filled with senseless scenes of gratuitous violence and senseless sexism, this manga is filled to the brim with fantastic artwork that seeks to pump up your blood level...
but despite the crowd-pleasing fan effects I feel it would be a gross understatement to call this a manga that, as stated by ADSF, "lacks substance whatsoever".
In fact, I'm sure you'll find that this manga, like the author's previous work (akumetsu), seemingly has a bit more heart than its wreckless exterior would show.
At chapter 41, it feels like the main character is finally kicking it into high gear and showing some character development...
All in all, an interesting read, with lots of potentional for development and already an awesome showcase of artwork. You can truly see how nicely the mangaka's artwork has gotten even better with this lastest work!
give it a read... 9.5/10

This manga carries a moment of excitement, to which can be a hit or miss to different readers.I respect Inugami as a character because of his strong pacifism, and yet even if he did not want to kill people, he knows he can with a flick of a finger. The author makes the yakuza take extreme steps
Over all, the artworks is amazingly beautiful but full of such human darkness. Proportions on most female characters are however extremely exaggerated to the point where it becomes distasteful. And as if that wasn't bad enough, it is also the violent acts performed on those (overly sexualized) women that makes the artist comes off as kind of a degenerate.

such as bombing the school though I wouldn't want that to happen in reality and how much they despise Inugami when really
, they despise themselves because they could not beat someone who won't fall back.Over all, the artworks is amazingly beautiful but full of such human darkness. This manga is devoid of any substance whatsoever. The plot is shallow. The sub-plots are shallow. Any conflicts between the characters are no more than senseless brouhahas over pride and ego. The incessant brandishing of one's potency and machismo is corny and sensationalized. The protagonist's "deep" and masked-with-stoicism sorrow is trite. The mangakas largely use their near-unmatched artistic talents to dramatically glorify violence and gore, and to intricatly chisel the malevolent grimaces of characters' faces.
And I love it. It is among the foremost of releases I anticipate every week.
But if one is so grave and somber of a fellow to take all of the above so damn seriously, then they best stay far, far away from this manga.
