Amazing

I was put off by the art at first but after reading just a few chapters, I had already fallen in love with the story that the art just didn't matter.
Like many before me have mentioned, it's kind of like Romeo and Juliet
but I think this was so much more touching and tragic.
The ending was both sad and almost happy.
I loved both the main couple and all the side pairings
Definitely worth your time to read!

It depends on your definition of tragedy...

but I do believe this is a tragedy though. A definite Romeo and Juliet kind of ending, which I think was a bit depressing. I couldn't really see a happy ending for this though. I felt so terrible for the lovers, especially for Dawu. He was definitely losing whatever naivety and innocence he had because he lost Xiaoxue. Somehow, he's still remained one of the most naive characters throughout the whole thing though. Even in the end, he still really loved Xiaoxue...

Another character I find really interesting is XiangLong. He's one of the distinct characters for me...something about this bangs seem so recognizable. I also felt kind of terrible for him because of his "woman"...although I had the sense things were probably going to go wrong. I guess the ending is about as happy as happy gets for such a bleak situation....

i didn't expect much from all the gangs and stuff, but this is truly 'plot heavy'. I recommend it to everyone who likes some angst and hardships of love. It's a little sad though, but isn't that how life's like?

No.1 in beautiful and unexpected ending

Most of the time, beautiful story =/= action and action=/=beautiful story.

1999 would give that a kick in the n*t.

Very heavy in plot and character. Every conversation means a lot, including ones without word. Complex story compare to the average manga (which is why it should be 11 out of 10).

I don't understand why people don't like the artwork, I find it unique.

An Excellent Tragedy

There are is so much comedy/humour manga produced these days, it's possible to forget the sheer emotional extravagance of a good tragedy. I definitely recommend this.
The art from the 90's has dated somewhat, but not badly enough to detract from the story.

CANNOT STAND THE ART

I wish that some day the author would redraw this entire manga...Reading through the comments I can see that the manga has a good plot, but honest to God, I just cannot get pass the art even though I've tried to several times. It is just too simple and down right ugly.
I love to read angsty mangas. In fact, I've read the author's The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese and its sequel and came to accept the illustrated arts in those mangas (They were a fantastic read). But this one...I don't think I will ever try reading it again.

I don't love the artwork but seriously, it doesn't matter that much. This is one very interesting title, I highly recommend it. Not only the main pairing, the other pairings (or semi pairings) are wonderfully presented. It's nowhere near boring, the story gripped me from beginning until the very last chapter, and... *weeps*. Kudos to the scanlator, too.

I think I've fallen in love with this story.
The first time the two main characters hugged, it made me tremble!
I love this kind of angst.I love the art, the story is amazing. The only down I can find is that some characters are really similar.
A totally worthy manga!

Simply beautiful. Aside from the art, the plot and story make you want to read it, even if it gets confusing at times, but maybe that's just me. I cried my eyes out while reading this. The end especially tore my heart into two, in a good way because that's how good it was, but in a sad way too because it seriously made me cry.

Not recommended for the emotionally weak-hearted, but a good read if you are a yaoi fan looking for something sad, and are able to tolerate the artwork. The mangaka's art has gotten gorgeous over the past years btw, especially now.

I wasn't too fond of the art and found it difficult to distinguish between characters sometimes. However, it has a great storyline and is like a yaoi version of Romeo and Juliet...very sad. =(
