Despite the fact that Hetalia has so much potential in dark interpretations, most doujin of it is quite light. This averts that. It'ss about Japan and China remembering their past and tending the wounds they have inflicted on each other. The style is similar to that in Western gothic comics. If there was more doujinshi like this in the world, it wouldn't be such a disdained medium.
