This is a beautifully drawn, very poetic story - it has a peaceful and sentimental mood, and it's very touching. But it does have cliches when it comes to the characters, which weakens its impact.
For one thing, there's really very little surprise as to what will happen - the characters are so cliche that little they do is intriguing or all that new. The seme is ridiculously stubborn and sends mixed messages, and the uke is overly weepy and emotional and seems to create angst to further the plot along. And as with many of these stories, the supporting characters are better people overall. And regarding them...
But if you don't mind some predictable characters and an overly angsty story arc, this is still a well-written, and beautifully illustrated story.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
An issue I have is that the competing love interest to the uke, is not only a far better man than our main seme, he has no actual hope of ever receiving the uke's love, despite being kinder and giving him a better life. In a less cliche story, wouldn't we want the better man to 'win' the uke's affection? But the uke is so blind in his love for *his* seme, that it wouldn't matter how great a man anyone was. ...And in how many stories do we need to see the main seme rape the uke, to prove his love? It only furthered my annoyance and lack of respect for him overall. But I guess two fools deserve each other. They were both equally irrational and stubborn.

One point I don't like is that Laurent appeared to be so concerned with the social status that sometimes he was too shy, which reminds me much of the familiar dependent uke type, though that's not the case in this story.
Everything else is great though

It was a nice, historic story about the forever forbidden relationship between master and servant. The art was beautiful at times and then not so appealing. Laurent seemed a bit too concerned with their status, while Arthur a bit blind and conceited (but as all Seme... such trait is often rendered as interesting, rather than annoying).
I'd give it a 8.5 per total.
