Cute story, needed more romance, ending makes sense

Film Girl — 8/10 — this is a very cute and enjoyable story, and this is coming from someone who's read so much shoujo that she's fed up with it. The only thing I wish is that there were more romance between the two leads, because kissing after one year of being together is...unrealistic as hell, lol. I like the art as well.

A lot of comments mention the ending not making any sense because it implies the characters don't love each other, when it's the exact opposite, because
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
it would totally undermine the theme of the manga if one of them gave up on their dream, especially after it's been repeatedly stated that both of them need to find their own footing and confidence. Not to mention the fact that they're both very young and need to think about their careers.

Anya Kuro — 8/10 — loved the bittersweetness of it and how the two leads got to know each other.

Wonderful Cafe ni Youkoso — 5/10 — didn't vibe with the quirkiness at all, and the age gap and immature male lead made me remember Blend S, another series that made me uncomfortable because of the same reasons. The dogs are cute, but the melodrama is not.

Was going great until the end...

I really enjoyed this story up until the end. I really liked the characters, it had the right mix of budding romance and humor, with amusing side characters. And I personally like this style of art. However, it felt like it was just starting off, with Mei and Shirou just starting to cross into a more romantic relationship, and them each starting to grow in the modeling world, and then it abruptly came to an end. The story introduced a mysterious character

with dark hair, whose face we never see, and who sees Mei's picture and comments "I can use her"
and we never see him again and never find out what he meant. It felt as if the author got busy or lost motivation and decided to just end the story.

You never see the two actually become a couple, and they only deliberately kiss one time, right before separating for what may be years. They never talk about their feelings for one another, instead they seem to just leave it as being dear friends who flirt and get jealous.
. It's a shame, because I was really enjoying the story until the end. It feels as if it needs several more chapters to get the characters to where they need to be.

lol i'm glad everyone agrees with how the story ended. It was SO disappointing, I actually got a little mad... It was really funny but I felt like every chapter was a bit of the same thing.
On the other hand the two oneshots that are included in Volume 2 were really pleasant. I suggest you guys look for those ones. At least they had a definite conclusion and they were touching.

If both of them are suppose to be in love and they both work in the same field, then why can't they just stay and work together. Of course they wouldn't be bitter, but to me it makes more sense... A really boring unromantic manga.

Not romantic

Oh common they are admiring each other, but if you go with that ending then they don't love each other. There are some hints of romance, but if you are into romance as much as me you probably will not like this manga too much. I give it credit for originality, but characters are messed up. I just don't like how everything is contradicting there especially the ending...

Love the story, hate the ending. That's no ending for me, that's nonsense! Tsk! Damn I'm pissed! At least make use of the epilogue to let Shiro comes back successful and they have a wedding or something. Disappointed max!

I was so excited for this story! And I'll admit, it's a worthwhile read UNTIL the very end. Like, literally, the last chapter ruined the whole story for me.

The characters are likable. The manga as a whole was humorous. The art is beautiful. The romance (I thought) was going at a pretty good pace.

And then BOOM
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
MAIN MALE LOVE INTEREST JUST LEAVES.

Hey. I'm not so petty. I mean, they do that in tons of shoujo manga. Must be one of the plot lines or something. So I was ready to deal with it because there was an epilogue.

But the epilogue where they're supposed to reunite after many years of finding their own way? IT WASN'T THERE. The epilogue was love interest guy Shirou leaving by himself at the airport. BY HIMSELF. Mei didn't even come to see him off! Seriously? I mean, the whole reason they were modeling was for each other and they don't even care that they're not going to see each other for possibly ever?

Are you fucking kidding me?

So yeah. If you read this manga, don't read for the romance. Read for the finding-yourself-through-modelling because that was the only vibe I got from this manga.

I liked everything except the ending. It was really sweet and at times funny. The characters are lovable.. and not too annoying. But the story was so short!! I do wish it was a little longer. I'm not a fan of the way it ended. It just left me thinking wtf?!

First of all, I loved the whole concept of wanting to "shine" and "be seen" and how both characters developed together and supported each other the whole time. It really brought out how important it is to have someone believe in you so that you're not going through your journey alone. Really good relationship between the two from start to finish and the romance wasn't so heavy and cliche, but was really simple and light. I enjoyed this manga but I do have some issues with it as well....
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The ending was really bittersweet how both of them had to go their own seperate ways and follow their own path and that's cool, there was nothing wrong with that part but it's just that there's no closure between the two. He kind of just told her he's going to paris and then she's very understanding and she tells him she will stay behind and then THE END. They kiss, he leaves, she stays, future-scene of her flying somewhere to go a cover model for the first time and that's it. Doesn't show them seeing each other in the future or getting together, she kind of just said "he went his way. I my own. and as long as we believe in each other, we'll shine." yeah... wasn't a fan of that.

I only wish it was longer.. could've been one amazing manga.
