...that it ended. The stories feel complete after it ends and gives me that feeling I usually get from slow, steady slice-of-life stories I read sometimes. The art is, like the others said, extremely different than what you usually see in manga. Personally, I love it... there are a bunch of panels in here that are so tastefully rendered that I could cut them out of the book and have it framed on my wall.

Actually, I think I'll do that someday.

Possibly the best collection of yaoi one-shots in recent history. SO. TOTALLY. PERFECT. I find older guys adorable, and I loved that this manga captured them in those vulnerable moments. <3 Very sensitive and lovely art; the expressions are amazing. This might sound weird but I love the wrinkles and saggy bags-under-the-eyes look that so many of these men have - I mean they are older men, and it's such a good change to see them portrayed realistically instead of the buff idiots whose over-perfect bodies grace (or in my opinion, totally ruin) most yaoi mangas.

I like the little hints of politics mixed in, the palpable realism and the decidedly non-seedy take even on love affairs that would, in the public eye, probably look very seedy indeed. I like this manga for capturing the fact that what is often so tender in private can appear so torrid in public... No, I'm not just having a Mark Sanford moment. Lol! Really a great manga that I won't forget.

So much love for this, a must-read for anyone who likes a sophisticated story with mature-aged characters and lots of understated sensitivity. Heartwarming in an unexpected way; it really brought a smile to my face.

This oneshot collection is indeed really good to read. The art and plot seem simple but still left some unique impressions.

BASSO-sensei is great ;_________; Banzai!!!

What I like about this especially is that it's very different, and yet so very realistic. The plots focus on a handful of politicians and their male lovers, but do the uncommon (in BL manga, at least) by acknowledging the consequences and the struggles of being gay in the government. The art is neat in a rough sort of way (but I might be biased because I love this style) and the characters are strong and believable. This piece has my recommendation, definitely. I only wish there was more scanlated. =)

You know these one shots are so unlike anything yaoi related that I've read before. They're mostly with older men, but not those unreal muscular men stories that tend to float around. Its more about real people and their relationships.

Like the other commenter said before the art is very different and takes some getting used to. I'm not sure if Basso is Japanese or not...but the style of art isnt the typical yaoi stuff. Its a bit crude, and the entire story lacks that bubbly eyed, flower hovering feel that yaoi and shonen ai tend to give off.

But I still really enjoy the stories...maybe because they are more real? smile I think...if you've read as much BL as I have you start to search for things that are different, stories with more plot and substance. This one of them. So if you still enjoy your BL, but you need something from the usual I recommend this. I love these one shots very much.

the art takes something to get used to; it's pretty much the polar opposite of so much yaoi that has pretty, ethereal bishounen sprawled across the pages; it's very rough and stark with strong, edgy lines. i didn't like it at first, but it's been growing on me for the last 3 chapters. the expressions are quite good, the stories are original, and basso manages to make me care about the characters even though they too, like the art, are sort of the opposite of pretty -- that's quite a feat considering the stories are oneshots. with this style of art and story the sex isn't gratuitous, nor is it particularly hot; it simply serves its place in the story -- this basically doesn't feel like yaoi at all, come to think of it. i'm gonna wait with rating it til i've read the whole volume. check it out; it's really something different.
