Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I can't speak for all, since I'm not religious. However, I can say that I literally wept through the last three chapters of the third volume. The tales of three unique pairs of lovers are weaved together so creatively:

We start with our mean protagonists. one would forsake god to be with his love. the other would give up his own life and to let his love be happy. but each has to sacrifice something to achieve their wishes.

Then there's the archbishop and the chief... their forbidden love was only recognized moments before their deaths, and yet they were satisfied to die in each other's arms, for the those last moments were worth it.

the whole story behind Judas & Jesus could be further explored though. Judas was in love with his lord... so in love that he sacrificed Jesus so God can forgive his sins. However, he realized, only after he has give Jesus up, that he would rather have lived in sin and with his love than without. So he tries to take his own life... and yet universe plays a trick on him.

There are times where i just went, "Oh... my... GOD.... !"... I can't even explain it due to lack of words. I'm just speechless in awe.

i rate this manga a 7.6
for i think that the story could've been better... and i have to say that i love the supporting characters more than the two main ones.... i really want the manga to go more into sariel's and beelzebub's relationship.... and i'm also curious about koumori's and god's ralationship!?!?!?!?! ^^

a moving story

This has definitely made my list of all-time favorites. The art is beautiful, and the story is complex and riveting. The relationship between the main pair is touching and a backbone of the story. This is more shounen-ai than yaoi. There is 1 scene late in the 3rd volume that's yaoi, but it doesn't show much. Anyone not really into yaoi could read this and problably not have a problem with it. The story itself, however, might offend some just because of the religious content. The way Christianity is twisted around and presented is different than the usual fair. I like it. I found the ending and some other revelations in the story quite interesting. The mangka did a great job of fleshing out the story over 3 volumes. I would have loved to have seen it stretched out over even another volume though. I agree with other posters about how most BL don't have a plot or character development. This one certainly has plenty of both. You do have to think a little with this one. A great read, and I highly recommend it.

The short story at the end of volume one was very nice as well. It was a nice little snippet on how people resist change in their routine and comfort zone.

I love it!!! So much!! Well, its Kisaragi Hirotaka-sensei's work! What else can you expect but a good plot and deathly gorgeous art!
As a catholic I did find the theme of the story awkward but I always keep my mind open to such themes and I just focused on the lesson of the story. I think some open minded catholics might find this story wonderful and try to see it in a different perspective.

I just...regret reading it like only NOW!!! I should have known this title if I really am a Kisaragi Hirotaka-sensei fan!!!GAAAWDD!!

Very entertaining story, I like this mangaka's theological theories and all of the couples' chemistry (interesting set of couples btw). Also, for anyone who is insulted by this manga, I only have one thing to say, WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU READING A ->YAOI<- IF YOU'RE A CHRISTIAN? Isn't that frowned upon by your religion!? Anyways, read this story, it was great!

while a lot of manga are based on the theme of the forbidden love between angel and demons, "na mo naki tori no tobu yoake" really distinguishes itself with a lot of unique qualities and a superb storyline. needless to say, kisaragi hirotaka has such beautiful art works that really accentuates the plot! (especially those wings! )
anyway, i like the themes being discussed in this particular work and it really makes the reader think.

as for my own little preference, i liked the side characters' romance better than the main one; i don't know why. haha

This story was excellent. It's really hard to find shounen-ai/yaoi mangas with an actual plot and developed characeters.
The 3 relationships described are portrayed in a unique way (specially the "guide" one..that surprised me but added a nice twist to the plot and added to this manga's awesomeness).
This story is beautiful in every way, so I totally recommend it.

Ok so yaoi isn;t my thing and I was reluctant to even pick this up but I'm glad I did. It's a very sweet story but is also quite controversial in it's theme. Ultimately it comes down to is love ok even though it's condemn by heaven. It really makes you think without you even realising. This is more shounen-ai than yaoi as there is only one brief scene and it's not really graphic. It could have done to be stretched out a little as some things were a little confusing, especially at the end but overall this is a pretty good read.

When I first started reading this manga, it pushed all the wrong buttons for me and eventually, the only thing that kept me going was the artwork. (Yeah, I'm a sucker for great artworks).
But by the time I finished the third volume, I was really touched and very surprised by revelations in the last chapter. At some point, the plot pulled me in. XD

This is a good read and the plot is really something so you should very well read this with an open mind (and probably a sturdy faith, if you're a Christian). I love how the mangaka "twisted" her deep plot to effectively portray the relationship and emotions of the characters.
