Okay this girl is pretty much scum. I don't know if the author is so out of touch with reality that they don't realize their protagonist is effectively two-timing without repercussions or what.
I can easily picture the middle-aged boyfriend-less self-inserting mangaka as I read this.

This story was quite refreshing to read, it has some controversial subjects in it and deal with them wonderfully!
The characters all feel deep and well developed, the author definitely placed a lot of thought on them. Momo's character is one of my favorites, because I honestly love characters that always seem happy and lighthearted but they actually see all and know all. Like in Shakespeare the 'fools' are the ones that speak the truth.
The art is really nice, way nicer than the cover picture right now in fact.
The plot is heart touching and complex, it's definitely not shallow.
Overall, a really great and entertaining read!

For example, a woman having a younger lover with quite some age gap. This one probably is more accepted now but having the woman look after and pay for him is generally frowned upon in society. But I like how the characters don't treat it like a big problem, because traditionally it is the man's job to pay and look after the woman but now there's gender equality so as long as both parties are happy why should it matter to them? Also the matter of 'pride' being the reason why woman can't be smart or superior in any way, that's absolutely stupid because if you love someone the most important thing would be being by their side, not your pride.
Another thing I liked was how innocent Sumire and Momo's relationship was, I think it's lovely to cohabitat with someone and support each other like family. But there's also the thing where they all love more than one person, if you can love more than one friend, more than one family, I don't see why you can't love more than one person. Granted it may be rare therefore not socially accepted but I believe that you can love more than one person at a point in time. I also like how Momo actually said that he likes Sumire's boyfriend as well, in fact the author basically describes Momo as bisexual and I think it's nice how the author is open minded and thought that far because that does fit Momo's personality.
Another thing is the height difference, Sumire is much taller but they're still a great couple, it just emphasizes how its not the physical appearance that one falls for. Momo being shorter also doesn't make him any less manly.
One thing I didn't like as much is that Sumire does give up her job, but the author takes it seriously and I'm trying to justify it to myself that its about making compromises for love and that she has chosen to continue because sshe's writing freelance and there's a chapter where she talks about how she only wants to write what she's interested in.

To be honest, I started this manga with relatively low expectations, simply because of the synopsis and title. However, it turned out to be a very great read! I highly recommend this manga!!

Completed fully and it is a very satisfying read. Starts very interesting and continues to captivate you as you progress till the last chapter leaving you happy. I would describe the manga as slow romance and I recommend it to all romance fans. For those expecting sexy things between the older female and younger male don't get your hopes up because this is a true romance not one based on sex hence the josei tag. Would have given the series a 10 rating if the manga had a longer conclusion and had a time gap.

This is the manga that got me into josei. I've been looking for something as good as this, with very few results. From the start, the two have great chemistry and the relationship between the two develops in a fun and interesting way. I still have strong feelings about this cute couple and I love how they grow together with the help of the other and it's just really great.

I feel that the author really wrapped this nicely. I don't think she left any loose ends which is great!
I would have loved to see more of their married life together though...And mabye a couple more of steamy scenes... T_T But it's fine! I'm not realy used to this kind of long manga but I really liked this one(and I really like the live action too ^^)

All you need to know about this manga is: successful intelligent career woman lets younger freeloader stay as a pet, only to decide to quit her job and marry him as soon as his own career takes off. Fail. I have no words.
Okay, I have more gripes. By the end, the story becomes too rushed, hammy, predictable, and ridiculous. It's a mess.

For me this series was amazing for one reason and that is Momo. Not only is he uniquely handsome and very well drawn (the art style never seems to fluctuate much for him except for his changing hairstyles) but his exposure as a dancer was both beautiful and masculine, making him very real. His personality was interesting if not elaborated on quite enough.
I was a bit disappointed...
All in all, the author obviously felt very dearly for both of these characters but it’s almost like she didn't want to write their happy ending. There were secondary characters leaping out of the woodwork for a chapter here and there and family members offering bizarre challenges for the two to overcome, and I’d just hoped for something a little more low-key and sweeter.
DESPITE MY OBVIOUS RESERVATIONS, it was a joy to read. Watching Sumire develop and discovering more about her unique introverted-extrovert personality was always entertaining and easily relatable. Sometimes I found myself screaming that she should just figure it out but other times she’s perfectly in control of her emotions and learning all the right life lessons. Her pet and master status-quo with Momo offered enough comfort and allure to keep me reading even when the arcs moved into something not quite as clear cut (mermaids?) Hasumi-senpai was also really likeable for all his adorkable traits, falling somewhere between manly-man and huge softie.
A real gem if you can put in the time.

I was a bit disappointed...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
when the pair finally got together. Every scene seemed overtly silly and/or a little rushed. Especially when we’d put in so much time watching the Hasumi-senpai relationship unfold. Momo seemed to shine the most when he was standing out of the spotlight, loving without needing to be loved in return, and for a relationship that was so different and special I think it could have been so much more.
It’s understandable that they’d known each other inside out and for long enough that they might have rushed into familial happiness, and I found it terribly sweet that Momo was thoughtful and willing to take such giant steps for Sumire as the older woman, but I would have liked to see them adapt to the newness of romance a little bit more.
All throughout the Hasumi relationship the idea of marriage and children was somewhat precious, and finally with Momo it feels very happenstance. Sumire should have reflected a lot more, as Takeshi deserves. (he doesn’t even get the satisfaction of having his true name called) His understanding is saint-like really.

Fukushima does a convenient 180 when she goes from judging Sumire fairly as a rival and heading completely off the rails as a strip-tease love-affair who holds no qualms about getting her way by any means possible. She gets better, but the bitter taste remains.

The end of that relationship couldn’t come quick enough but also felt a little rushed until later chapters where they both reflected properly. He still got the short end of the deal, but they both should have realized sooner.

Phenomenal Josei. I hesitate to describe it as realistic because, let's face it, the premise is that the male protagonist is a pet. Despite this, I think the themes and ideas that the mangaka tackles are very interesting, and she has a knack for creating somewhat believable (I mean, it's a manga, so there is some degree of exaggeration) and warm characters. The story drags a little (14 volumes), but otherwise, I really enjoyed it.

This is my all time favorite series - as in out of the hundreds of series I have read. It does have flaws, but it is a great Josei, Slice of Life, Romance etc. and it feels REAL, well at least more than 99.99% of the manga out there. It's simply a charming read.
BTW I am scapegoat regarding my star, so you know it gets a 10 from the heart!
