Description
Kaoru was an aspiring mangaka, with big dreams and (what he thought was, and still does think,) oodles of talent. Now he's just another hikikomori (recluse) who hasn't left his room in 5 years...Until one hot summer night, when he hears, from some distant place, voices which call him. Voices that only he can hear. Voices that are calling for help. Following the voices, Kaoru opens the windows, and steps out into the night.

Another one of Yamamoto Naoki's one-shots that deal with hikikomori. Not as good as his "Watching TV all day makes you stupid" though. In both this story & the aforementioned one, a hikikomori venturing out in society would have dire consequences for him/her. You do have to read these one-shots a few times in order to start getting things.
I have a hard-time figuring out what's real and what's not. Can't put my finger on exactly what's taking place in the protagonist's mind.
In this story the hikikomori is a rather dangerous criminal with a mental illness; most likely schizophrenia & DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).
