I'm hoping to read more. Her work is amazing I can't help but smile when I was reading this. Alas, the shounen ai scenes, dkjnldkfjn I really like it though I know those who don't won't really like that genre in the manga ^^; Please don't stop reading just because it has slight shounen ai moments. This manga has really interesting plot and potential it makes you waiting, wanting for more, I assure you wink I'm hoping for more, Sugisaki Sensei. It's been a while since I've read your work. Keep me interested!

I have to say I was here and stayed for the art. The art is so good but then I have to guess what's going on most of the time because of the choppy translations at times and the names plus plot is confusing as. I'm still going to stay and wait for updates cause of the art (and angst) though~

It's really quite interesting the only thing is it's quite fast paced and it jumps from one thing to the next, which makes things a bit confusing. I feel as if the mangaka needs to slow down and insert some context into it because it's quite dizzying reading it. Other than that the art is really great and the characters are interesting.
If you're not into very fast paced, jumpy stories though I suggest not reading this. Also it's not in the genre's but it's basically borderline shounen-ai.

I had loved the manga ever since I've picked it up! I own volume 1 to 5 of this manga, and I'm quite surprised the english translations came out so quickly.
I love the art and how the story plots seems to progress quickly, but still manages to capture important parts of the plot. This manga is basically an Arabian Harem for the main character.
Though, until volume 5, so many things are still unexplained, so I'm really looking forward to more releases of it. Until then, I'll be keeping a close watch on this manga.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It still baffles me how Naito is always mistaken as a bishoujo instead of a bishounen.

tbh i think you should calm down. i just read the actual story and there is no such error in the series itself so i think someone who wasn't them made the series description. the actual scanlation is high quality. there are minor differences in the whites here and there but unless you have a broken screen like me you cant even tell the difference.

Unlike most manga nowadays, there is a lot of things going on in 1001 Knights. Not only do we have the main characters' story, we also have a whole host of side stories that helps introduce the world of 1001 Knights. It keeps the story interesting since we're getting expose to different characters with different dynamics meanwhile slowly progressing the main story at the same time. There is no doubt that 1001 Knights is very well delivered which is as expected from the author who made D.N Angel.

The story however, isn't very original. There is a lot of troupe in 1001 Knights that's heavily drawn from BL fandom and a lot of cliche characters. The story relies heavily on its art to create the tone rather than relying on the story content itself. Not to mention the terrible translation job done by the scan which made the story very hard to follow. I'm thankful that 1001 Knights is actually getting scan but if the translation is terrible, there is no point of having a scan. It will only ruin the story to other people and will only hurt its popularity.

Horrible translation error in the summary...

"Naito and Yuki Fuka"

I really don't think I trust a scanlation group that can't even translate the names right--it's Naito and YUTA FUUGA. o_O How did they screw it up that badly?

As for the manga itself, I picked up the first volume in Japanese on a whim--I loved DNAngel, but Sugisaki-sensei keeps leaving series unfinished, so I wasn't going to commit to this one.

The opening volume is...intriguing, but doesn't pull me in, and I'm getting tired of her queerbaiting never actually bothering to progress into a nice, normal relationship :/ It's just so tacky after a while to use all that hoyay like a marketing tool none

Her art is on-point as usual, though, so I give it props for that.

Jarring and Confusing

After reading the first volume, while I understood the real world part of the story I am confused with fantasy element. There isn't enough context on what exactly is meaning of the jargon she's dropping. One would usually expect context as the story progress or the usual brief explanation. I'm not sure if it's with the translation but there is also a disconnect with what the characters are saying sometimes with what's happening in the manga panels.

It felt like a chore to read to get what's going on. I simply cannot recommend this to anyone expecting something similar to D.N.Angel.

Shounen-ai scenes also abound.

God awful.

I can't tell if it's really that bad, or it's just the horrible translations that make it worse,
but either way it doesn't deserve the 8.3 rating, is culturally appropriating in a way that's embarrassing (at least Magi did it well), and the harem is dumb. Plus, the reincarnated-from-a-girl-so-the-gay-is-okay thing really bugs me.
Not worth reading.
