Entertaining already

Thanks to the translators- this one's definitely a keeper. Tang Fang's new... occupant is so great: clever, perceptive, a bit manipulative, cool-headed, and strong. Definitely an awesome protagonist. I love how he just takes things in stride, and his experience from his past life will definitely help him whoop some butt in the entertainment industry. I really hope this is translated more quickly; I'm dying to know what happens! It's already really fun and amusing; I can't wait to see what happens next! Also, just to show a perfectly worded quote from the extremely likable protagonist, "No one likes someone with no willpower or resolve." THANK YOU, TANG FANG. Now, everyone go read this. biggrin

(Side note: This actually sort of reminds me of Feng Yu Jiu Tian... anyone else see it?)

Needs a Translator, Seriously

This novel is a gem. Or a onion. Whichever. What you are introduced to in the first couple of chapters aren't really the way things are. And as the plot moves along, you'll realise that the characters will start to develop and grow (sometimes in ways that are unexpected) and plots upon plots are uncovered.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The nonchalant attitude that the protagonist has is refreshing and causes some pretty comedic scenes in the novel. Probably because he doesn't give a damn at times and just want to do what he loves best, which is acting.

His tolerence levels for weird crap is pretty high as well so most of the bad stuff that happens are just calmly taken in stride, or he'll take steps to prevent the same things from occuring again.

Overall. this is definitely a must-read! (The complete story can be found in Chinese) biggrin

This is really awesome bl;. In Tang Feng and Charles' 'relationship', Tang Feng could be considered the uke but he isn't a whiny crybaby that need his partner to save him and stuff. In fact, he is pretty cool. He doesn't mind sleeping with Charles but won't sacrifice his personality because he enjoys the sex. He isn't whiny and can be quite patient. He has ambition and has an idea for where he wants to go in life so his life and decisions aren't focused on his partner. Plus he seems so knowledgeable and wise. In case it isn't already obvious, I really like Tang Feng and would give this novel more than 10 if I could.

First Time I've Seen It Done This Way

Reincarnation plots in Chinese novels are a dime a dozen. In fact, including this one, I'm reading 3 right now. It's almost as common as the ancient China setting. So you can understand why it's hard to make one stand out. The best feature for this one is the main character- Tang Feng.

He's just the kind of guy you want to see succeed. He's smart, funny, sensible, calm, a hard worker, confident, sexy and I could go on forever. But he also has quirks and imperfections that stop him from being too perfect. Add a bit of vulnerability(his reservation in giving and receiving love after years of abandonment) that makes you want to protect him and what do you have? A main character that you can't hate and want to see be happy.
I honestly don't care who he picks- whether it's no one or all three. It's just fun to follow along to see him get a happy ending.
It helps that none of the love interests are absolutely dreadful. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and are all different yet alike. A choice between a playboy, refrigerator and a drama queen- great pickings right?

Go read it and have some fun!

Seriously a treasure! I was so absorbed into reading it, I didn't notice I had already reached the lastest chapter! The character interactions and the plot goes really smoothly, and sometimes I don't even know who to ship with the main character anymore!
Talking about main characters, this main character is so lovable and sarcastic, I love it! It is a really pleasant surprise to read about a main character whom's not a pushover, yet not finding him the least haughty! Rather than anything, I think the word 'beautiful' can really describe him. How he mesmerise people with a stunning smile, or receive a beat of heart with one gaze of his eye. Really. he is so awesome!
The plot's going quite smoothly with little plot holes, but this is still within the first volume(the translations) so I can't say much. What I can say is, I'm totally following this novel!

very good

i didn't think i'd like this one, but after reading kill the lights i wanted another story about actors and people kept recommending this.
tang feng is an awesome MC. i'd love to read a xianxia series with a MC as thoughtful and laid back as he is, it would make a nice change.
this is also one of the few chinese modern series that i've read that isn't full of bigotry and disdain for anyone not chinese. the author dealt with the issues of racism, discrimination, gay bashing, and the difficulty of breaking into hollywood in a very thoughtful way, with no exaggerated preaching or hate-mongering. (i stopped reading i really am a superstar and awakening because the mc were so bigoted it got in the way of the story)
surprisingly, i liked this story enough that i actually read the machine translation for the untranslated books. that's only happened with one other series and it wasn't bl (unique legend).
big warning for readers: this is a HAREM genre, so people who don't like more than one love interest might not like this.
and speaking of love interests, my favorite was the ice cube, followed by the scary half-crazy guy, and then the stupid bear. actually, i would have called charles a giant over grown puppy rather than a bear. sadly, unlike a real puppy he never grows out of the over-exuberant jumping up to lick your face and slobber all over you phase so i found him annoying, especially in the middle of the series.
a very good series
