Overall, it's good.. but the ending, it's as if the writer decided that it's been dragging too long, thus let's just end this whole awesome build up plot with a random, pointless ending.
Seriously, the story could go on for at least 3 more volumes considering that there's quite a few stories and closure to be done.............

I bought the collection of 9 volumes ages back, but did not get round to finishing the last 4 or so until recently. The ending as people have mentioned is really..well abysmally disappointing in some regards since In feel I have near no closure on the whole story I had spent awhile reading and characters that I grew to like and have a distaste for. Still, an ending is an ending and and my rating is mostly derived from the journey the book took me on.
Art is pretty detailed, some nice inking and shading. Don't expect anything too deep story wise, but there was some nice character development. I just feel like a lot was left for the reader to decide and interpret, I want to know more background, more on what happened, more information about the clans etc.., but I guess a good book should leave you wanting more.

Wasted potential by an incredibly lazy author

When reading the series, it was almost like Park Joong Gi felt obligated to put some kind of storyline between the fights only because it tied things up. I don't think Park Joong Gi had any interest whatsoever in making any kind of coherent or even in-depth plot for this manhwa. It's all about fighting, fighting, fighting, occasional character development, and more fighting. The whole time I'm wondering, "couldn't he just flesh this out just a little...?" because everything (outside of the action scenes) lacked detail.
To Park Joong Gi's credit, in the occasional time he didn't spend drawing violence, his character development was very good. Most of the protagonists were well developed and had their unique qualities about them.
If you're into good, sketchy art and fun battle scenes with not much of anything else, then yeah, this series is great for you. If you want more than that, though? Look elsewhere.

i think one of the manga that deceived me the most.
Ok like every one's say i found that a great serie, so much that i buy all the book, but the end! THE END !!!
God how can a end like that be done, it completely destroyed all the effort that was put before. Sériously when i finish reading this, i was thiking only one thing :" why did i read that ? "
Not " oh that was a good story " or " what a shitty ending ". NO only " why did i read that ? ". Because at the end nothing and i say NOTHING is acomplished, all the story, all those nine volume of adventure are reduced to NOTHING by this ending alone, there is no accomplishment.
i put 1 because that manwa is not worth more. However great could have been the story if the end dont follow then you will feel deceived and Dangoo had the worts end i ever seen ( realy ), not because it's bad, but because it make the story useless.
If you still love this story stop arround volume 8 and never look at the end, just imagine one, it could only be better...

Absolutely fantastic art, compelling characters, nice raw story built around poverty, cruelty, clan loyalties and shamanism. I look forward to Dangu releases more than I do all but a handful of series ...
(couple years later) A pity we never got to see this scanlated to the end. I'll settle my rating at 8 ... what I saw, I liked a lot.

I do agree with Blaha that the plot lack of something...like inner motivation of characters aside from just matter of clan, revenge blah blah...(in my opinion the same goes for Blade of the Immortal) in this case both Vagabond is a lot better.
I'm giving 8, becouse I've red better manga/manhwa, but in Dangu art is amazing!Ijust fell in love^^when i saw those drawings.Have PARK Joong-Gi draw any other manhwa?mmm.. I'm puting him in one line with Samura Hiroaki and Inoue Takehiko - my idols

its pretty good actually..and it's not only just about the girl, there some other interesting main characters too..like Nwejo, Baku, Yatilla..the story of the girl(Yaki) seriously started around v04 so before that its mostly about his father and his faithful sevant Baku..
plus the illustrations are quite impressive as were the fight scenes..
i cant wait for the next release though, i'm too eager to know how the story will unfold..

Hmm...I dont know what to expect action wise from a child...and a girl..im not sexist, but most of the best action in manga/anime ARE from male characters...or atleast the ones that seem to be popular..I'll wait and read Volume 2 and see if I want to continue...it's hard enough finding a place to read them

this is probably one of the only historically based mangas, aside from blade of immortal, that can maintain a very realistic style and keep me attentive. Definently worth a read if you are an action fan and looking for something more epic and serious then your usual shonen manga. Yaki (the female lead) is powerful and cunning, and honestly, one of my favorite female leads from a shonen/seinen series.
