Second story was great.
by F0rcefi3ld

Rating: 8.0  / 10.0
I didn't find anything wrong with the first story. In fact, I actually supported the uke's decision to do what he did. He wasn't sure of his position in the seme's heart, so he didn't have the courage to speak. But what I supported was that he didn't wait in silence either and had acted on what he could do. I like ukes taking action (and not letting the seme do it for them), even if they may not always choose the best choice (and as long as it's not the worst one).

However, the higher rating was for the second story. Most of it was not great. The ending was not a surprise either. But the confrontation at the end upped my rating. It was a very touching moment that was able to pull on my heartstrings and stop me from thinking my usual critical things. Great ending.

Entertaining read!

The first story was interesting but I really couldn't get myself to like Hayato because the way he's been acting toward Jun was so harsh. No matter the reason he had, he really should have been nicer to him and explained the situation instead of throwing him out and then being upset at him for leaving. Any normal person would have acted like Jun, seeing his lover do stuff like that, anyone would think he's up to no good... so I found it a bit sad that in the end he only got upset and then didn't even man up to tell his true feelings. Poor Jun.

The second story started out very interesting even if it didn't take long to figure out what was going on.
Altogether a good read! It kept me interested until the end, the only thing I'd complain about is that there's not more of it. I'd have preferred it being a whole volume per story.

I liked both stories.

I would recommend both stories. The first one was not bad, even though there were times the seme was a jerk, he loved his uke smile I thought they made a cute couple and I'm glad they cleared everything up by the end. Hayato cleared up any misunderstandings.

The second story was also really fun. It was an original plot and thought the seme was really hot. Actually, most of Sensei's guys are hot.

I also liked the second story better.

As many others here, I also liked the second story much better. It was more original with the break-up for sale. The first story was so lame I already forgot its content. If I were to rate this Manga as a whole I'd have to give it only a 6 because of the first story, which was boring. The second story by itself I would rate as an 8. But anyway, since I'd be supposed to rate it with an overall view at it, I'd rather not rate it at all.

Second is better than the first

Story 01:
Exactly what I was looking for, such strong angst that it would lose my balance, and it did. I cried.

Well, the art is amazing as Minase-sensei's usual – but I actually think Jun's much hotter than Motoki.

As is seems to happen in a lot of manga, the two most interesting characters weren't the main ones. I'm not so sure about the character construction regarding the couple. Jun's actions seem to be a little over the top. Just because he overheard conversation he didn't even know what meant, he went as far as changing his cell phone number? I get that he's insecure, but I think that's a little exaggerated. And I don’t understand Hayato much, since he doesn't verbalize his feelings to Jun, skips his birthday and doesn't explain to him what's going on. Though he gained some points by being so patient when explain all that silly misunderstanding. And I also don't understand why people hate on him so much. He just has a hard time expressing his feelings, he's not insensitive or mean.
The interesting characters were, in fact, Motoki and Jun’s boss.
The boss was obviously in love with Jun. It was cute and bitter, everything I love. Still, it left me sad. And Motoki not only does he not want to interfere in their relationship, he actually helps them. Yes, he is cruel, which means I'm not quite sure whether I love him or hate him. And that's precisely what's good about him, his uniqueness. Also, it was really interesting that he was bisexual and actually dating a girl. That's unusual when it comes to yaoi.

As for the story…I’m sorry, but I don’t understand why so many people loved it. It’s pretty predictable and cliché. Not that it’s bad, but it’s not nearly remarkable as well. I think it would be more interesting if the focus was on Jun's position as an outsider to Hayato's and Motoki's relationship in high school.

Story 02:
I like it way more than the first, and I can’t tell precisely why.

It was cute and had a light-headed feeling that I loved, for some reason (I’m usually a sucker for angst and don’t like light stories). Maybe it was because the characters are quite my type, especially the seme.

It was also really original. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

PS: @happyliez I prefer deep stories, which is why I'm not rating this very highly.

1) Lover's Position: A good story, with a good plot and good characters. Definitely worth reading. I enjoyed it a lot. I like how Minase-sensei always creates an angsty atmosphere... I could feel Jun's despair as well as his strong love for Hayato. Speaking of Hayato, I liked him, he's very different from Minase's characters. I mean, of course every character in Minase's stories is different from the others, but they have always something in common, while Hayato was a "new entry" in her style. I liked it. I would recommend this manga to anyone who enjoyed other Minase-sensei's stories biggrin

2) Love Damage: Funny to read, original plot, but I didn't really like it. It was not a bad manga, but it was too short and a little too stupid. Maybe I like angsty stories, however I think this one was veeery unrealistic XD

first story annoyed me

1. lover's position: hayato is too much of an insensitive prick for my taste, and the story is not sufficiently believable. is he a moron for not giving an explanation why he kicks his lover out of the apartment? no, hayato just jumps when motoki calls, and completely disregards jun. it's beyond rude and uncaring. how can anyone who actually loves a person behave like this? i value my friends greatly, and i will definitely rush to their aid when they need help, and i will even prioritise them over my partner if they really are in big trouble -- but i'd tell my partner what's up first. and seriously, the reason motoki needed help? give me a break; that's laughable. all this angst buildup for nothing, really. so this plot device didn't work for me.

worse, the way it was written gave me a very clear sense that hayato damn well was still hung up on motoki, and that jun's impressions were correct; the actions said that, and the art said it too (just check how hayato looks at motoki). which makes this a failure on the part of the mangaka for not conveying at least some doubt about that interpretation. i am usually more annoyed with the uke in situations governed by dumb misunderstandings, but my sympathies are entirely with jun here, and while i wouldn't act his way (i'd force a talk first), i don't think he's reacting unreasonably.

at least jun undergoes some character growth, which can briefly be seen in the extra.

2. love damage: this one was a lot more fun for me. the plot is uncommon (i think this is the first i ever heard of such a company, though i've seen it used since), i didn't see it coming, which is always a good thing (and rare in BL), the story had enough detail for its length and was paced well. i also liked the ending; that was just enough, not too much. the rating is more for this one than for the first.

Angsty to the Core

The theme is angsty and it makes the reader feel the same emotion. I can't decide whether I like the stories or not, because one part of me is revolted at some of the things "in between the lines". But one thing that I'm not is 'bored', so this is really worth a fan's time.

Emotional rollercoaster for the uke XD

Insecure uke + insensitive seme + constant interruptions from seme's pretty ex-boyfriend = tons of angsty moments and an unstable relationship = me happy XD

That formula basically sums up my feelings for this manga.

I liked it. Especially the extra, which adds a new twist to the story (and the reason I gave it a ten). Jun is the cutest person ever, I love how he's drawn and his insecurities (yes, he's undeniably an uke). It's not a very deep yaoi, but it's not like we read yaoi for deepness, correct?
