I really like this manga, maybe I should also watch the anime.
I hate the "unsure boy bullied" thing, maybe because I hate bullysm and I am able to protect myself without problems even if they are older and stronger opponents.
Anyway I cant judge this little part of the manga using my personal experiences, so it wont decrease my rate (I should be stupid to do that).
I love the virtual reality subject, I finished Sword Art Online mangas and the first series of anime (I prefer to wait a dubbed version of the new episodes in these days) and also looked for Log Horizon and /hack: or how you write it (but they didnt caught me).
Anyway, thats an awesome work, you have to read it.

I've read this a long time ago and then droped because of a slow translation (it was good). However, I watched anime lately, and it is really nice (and new!). Main char has his own problems with self estim, that makes his personality deeper. Love theme of "The Beauty and the Beast" is wonderfull here, as well as friendship theme. If you are a fan of virtual reality, thrilling action, and games, it is for you.
Haven't seen .hack but

I like this series alot I love SAO also by same author, the story is solid, the characters are new. Most people have hard time dealing with a fat character but honestly it is new to have a protagonist not with spiky hair or well roughly good-looking to bishonen, or mega-delinquent, but a common fat, bullied kid. So yeah good.
Cliffhanger End

I like it. It gets typical shonen at some points.. but it is interesting in its own way. It has a nice concept. The characters have doubts everyone has, but the characters themselves are hard to relate to. Every chapter really does end pointlessly in a cliffhanger though. It's almost like normal chapter ends are on strike because the author slapped them with a fish....

The chapters are unusually long at 40+ pages each yet the story reads pretty quickly. The art is alright with a fair amount of action. The main character is a wuss and a crybaby but since he is also a short lard ass it comes off as believable/bearable. That he has two girls liking him despite this may stretch belief a bit but the reasoning behind it is presented logically. My main gripe with the story is that from the first chapter to the seventh, it has been cliffhanger after cliffhanger after cliffhanger with no end in sight. This is a decent read but it definitely ain't a relaxing one.

this manga is hard to understand or relate to. Well to people who have never had self asteam issues or bulling problems in large doses. i can relate to this kid pretty well. because i was once their and its not unnatural to think that way at the time.
this manga has a patten when it comes out it goes 1 chapter a mouth then 2 chapter the next mouth then 0 chapter then it starts all over again. in the second mouth of 2 chapter releases it releasese every 23 days( on the 23rd day) but its just a theory i came up with from the infor i have and on this sites data

I came across this manga by accident and didn't read it, I mean, the art looked really cliche, and the main character was a socially awkward fat guy who I couldn't relate to. The idea of the plot was what made me start reading it after I read the summery. I stopped reading it after a couple of pages in, but an hour later, I felt the urge to read it had become bigger for what ever the reason and I sat down and read it. It got really interesting! I looked past the art and what not, and the plot, setting and characterization were really great. I'm just not to happy with the unrealistic love that goes on in the series. Anyways, waiting for chapter 7. Hope the main character losses some weight and grows to twice his height so he doesn't look like a 5 year old.

I've just finished reading chapter 6, which I've been eagerly waiting for the past month. The plot is good! Never expected a fatass character could be so convincing for drama and kept me wishing for faster scans. The characters are not much away from their archetype as of late. The romance is at first hard to swallow, but is less of a cliché and kept me hoping that things would be well for Haru's love life! Hope he finds a way to get thinner!

I would not listen to Leos Klein because while I do very much love the .hack series, this is a fairly good series.
A manga is not bad because the protagonist is not the ideal Gary Stu. In fact, it's better than having a perfect character as the main character. It gets very irritating and is extremely overdone. Leos obviously is the type who likes perfect things and gets irked by these little things that can make a manga much better.
This story would be very cilche, bland, dry, old, uninteresting if it was the same old set up.
