lacks substance

average to below average shounen series. i had some hopes at the beginning, but it's become a slog to get through. it's essentially just 140+ chapters of fighting; while MC develops his skills (absurdly rapidly), his personality is woefully undeveloped. i can't bring myself to care about him and his motivations lack substance. same goes for the other characters; they could all be interesting but no effort has been put into fleshing them out. this is made worse by the fact that there's a huge number of characters and new ones are introduced almost constantly. plot is difficult to follow. i think the fight scenes are pretty decent but that's pretty much all there is to the series. art is a bit crude but it doesn't really bother me.

Cool monsters but lacks substance

I read a few ch up to the intro of Junpei but the main problem is that everyone at the Jujutsu is too OP compared to well, everything. When I read shonen I'm less here for the big fights vs how does a human copes with being inhuman in some aspects and their consequences on their lives. I don't get a sense of what motivates MC to keep fighting other than maybe his grandpa? He lacks the connection to the others so it feels like he's in his own world.

Someone mentioned it was similar to Kekkaishi but a huge draw for the former is how the MC is still attends a avg HS and deals with meeting friends and losing them to tragedy. He has personal interests and hobbies along with his spirit fighting routines.

Also, I'm aware it's horror genre but the constant violence and gore is off-putting and disturbing not so much as a it's horrifying but just everyone is super brutal to one another to the point I'm wondering well, IDK if I can say I support the good guys vs the bad since they're all kinda the same.

It's a decent manga on it own, but to be honest I would never be a fan of this. When I read a shounen manga like Bleach, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter or recently Birdman, It's much more interesting than reading this which I have to push myself through to even read some of it, I can't bring myself to have any emotion attachment to the character, that's the sole thing this manga failed at doing.

The main character is too perfect in his own way, he keep manage to say to cool thing, right thing all the time, he ace at everything but also very kind and friendly and not at all full of himself, he is like god, this guy is way too cool, I cannot bring myself to like him, and not just the main character, there is 4,5 Gary Stu of this type through out the story, the blind fold guy, the puppet guys, they say thing too right, their power is too op, and no one dare to challenge their perspective or atleast capable of doing it , it become hellla anoying to me, they're made to be the image of justice, of swagness, but to me they're like middle school kids trying to be cool with punch line they learned from some movie, it's cringe. In comparision, this type of person in other manga would either been killed off or get exposed of their non perfect side, those guys are story breaker and should have never been in it inthe first place. In the end, it's just a manga about a group of perfect people living in an echo chamber

I have a hard time recognizing some characters cuz of the way the faces are drawn and cuz of that i have sometimes missinterpreted certain scenes in the manga.

As every who reviewed this before me said, this is most definitely a shounen. Honestly, they are right when they say, it doesn't have some of the annoying tropes which go with this genre and the art style is nice. Not to mention, the villains are pretty fleshed out in terms of characterization.

Nevertheless, the series doesn't go beyond the shounen feel. In terms of feeling when reading this, there is none. You don't empathize with any of the characters or scream for their growth (like you would reading naruto for example). For me personally, the enriching part about reading a shounen story is that emotional attachment to the characters growth. Without that you are reading a story, you have seen hundreds of times before, that is a story of a boy getting stronger by fighting. Honestly, after hundreds of reads, this isn't satisfying.

Arguably one of the best shounen mangas of this decade.

Basically its shounen but with mixture of good action and a dash of horror. As another review mention it doesn't fall into any regular annoying shounen tropes which is one of the points why I rated this series so highly.

Well crafted lore and the art is splendid.

All in all a great series that I would recommend.

What I love most about this manga is how the curses are in the series are just so unique in their own way. Every character that gets introduce has their own skills and abilities, and it never gets boring. I love the characters, curse spirits and the world. The fights are just good just a like any shounen and to me it never gets boring. This series is worth it and I can't wait for more chapters to come.

" Loved every chapter. Highly recommend great and simple power system. Interesting and unique powers. Splitting time between main characters and villains is great. The action is great and really easy to follow."

Great shounen.

While Jujutsu Kaisen is very obviously a shounen manga, it has as of yet (c29) managed to avoid almost all of the annoying tropes while carving out a niche of its own. I really like both the protagonist's earnestness, and the antagonists' brand of villainy. The designs for the Curses have also been surprisingly unique - there are lots of extremely deformed humans, and even some monsters that look inspired by natural disasters. And while Yuuji is possessed, this hasn't been a Naruto-style possession: the one who possesses him is both vindictive and smart, and uses any chance he gets to loosen his shackles.
