I really like this.

As others have said, I really like the simplicity in this manga. There is no overly dramatic blushing, or falling down a flight of stairs-into-lovers-arms, but the connection between the two runs deep and I found myself smiling at many points during the story.

I definitely recommend this manga!!

this is so far my favourite of fujiyama's manga; its quiet and simple plot proceeds at a realistic pace. there is nothing stupid here; no stereotypes, no instant love, no high drama, no contrived misunderstandings; just two people who slowly grow from friends into life partners -- which brings its own problems, and they're dealt with sensibly. the art is very expressive; it says a lot with small gestures, and she captures the romance in those gestures so well. the manga even has a strong female character. i can't think of anything to change, so i guess this really is one of my rare 10s.

I really love Fujiyama Hyouta sensei's works. And this is no exception. She takes her time to tell her story, there is actual development in the way the characters fall in love, a coherent plot, beautiful art, and other elements usually missing from most yaoi manga that makes her work such a pleasure to read. It sets itself apart from the others just as much by what it DOESN'T do as by what it does - loads of smex, overly demonstrative gestures or passionate declarations of undying love, rich manipulative semes, tiny helpless ukes, high drama conflicts and resolutions - which, don't get me wrong, I love that stuff too but it's so refreshing to stumble upon such a quietly told, cliche-avoiding story among the other run of the mill stuff.

And have to say, every time she draws her men leaning into a kiss, it makes me clutch my heart! No gasps, no moans yet so much more effectively sexy than all the tongue-entwining, open-mouthed kisses other mangakas come up with!

It's like the story's stalled FOREVER. bigrazz (It's not.)

So far I'm with the other commenters; ending at that point, it makes things.......rather "huh?"
with more chapters following on, tho, it makes for a good, very much solid story. It seems rather weird that the story take a slice-of-life and pleasant, stable mood suddenly after volume 1 & 2's rather dramatic form, but in the end that creates a analogue to their lives (and follows the sequel's mood more)

I like the characteristic because they're distinctively plain. You sometimes can't differ one person's thoughts to another, and as much as I like differing characteristic, for this that's an advantage. This is not that kind of polarizing, masculine-feminine, rough-gentle romance. This is a story about two similar person who got along.

The art, however, leaves much to be desired. No, not that Fujiyama Hyouta's art is bad, it's just...it's hard to differ between the characters at this point. It's that kind of art where you just HAVE to rely on hairstyles. Still, that doesn't really hurt.

My favorite work from Fujiyama-sensei.

Is there someone scanlating this series? Cuz it's been a while since the last release, and only a few chapters till the end...I want to finish this before reading the continuation T__T

Anyways, the story is great..it's one of those rare-to-find yaoi mangas with an actual plot (and a good plot). Characters are nicely developed, the art is good and story is great..Conclusion: read it!!!

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I love the serie that I could die happy ^^, in the sequel http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=3598, they get married and live happily under the same roof at the beginning, so nomatter how the end in this prequel is, I still dont feel disappointed. And this story is only the prequel that Fujiyama-sama draw after Dear Green (sequel) 2 years, that's mean she only wants to make clear about how Otoumi and Yukari develop their feelings.. I'm sure she's drawing more.

I love this series. I love how Fujiyama-sensei captures the complications of falling in love after 5 years of friendship, the fear of losing a close friend, the frustrations, the feelings of one person being more in love than the other, the dance between these two as they alternately push forward and give in to their fears. I also like how even though they're similar, it's easy to tell the characters apart. I also love how all of his/her characters are 3 dimensional, even Uchiyama, whom I still feel sorry for. I also love how Fujiyama-sensei beautifully captures the little moments: the gentle touches and the small gestures that make my heart melt.

Yeah, I agree with previous posters. Yay, sequel!

There were errors with description and the chronological listing of the Dear Green series. I have corrected all and it should make sense now.
