Started out strong and went downhill until the end

English is not my first language so sorry if my grammar is a mess.

I started reading GotW when the very first few chapters was uploaded on a certain famous manga site. It was still a fan translation back then. That time, webtoons like this was not known, and as of this day, GotW bites the dust and I'm happy the ordeal ended and sad cause it had a potential to be better yet the author might not have seen it.

This webtoon started out strong. MC went to a former all girls turned coed school. He has issues, so it may annoy you at first, but don't worry, he'll have his fair share of character development.

This webtoon at first had a good balance of action and romance.. AT FIRST.... Sadly, author destroyed that balance by focusing more into the romance aspects(KDRAMA type of romance) of the plot which ruined the character development of the MC, which made the plot bad. It's like author got hooked into a kdrama series while in the middle of writing this and decided to introduce more romance and the result was awful. The fighting was gone for a lot of chapters, then author tried to insert an action scenes out of nowhere cause ya know, romance. It felt forced. After so many chapters, we got this half baked action scenes.

I have 3 reason to believe that this was axed because: First, the author ran out of ideas and is quite noticeable on chapters 200+, the drama was so heavy that it ruined further the mc's development on the beginning. Second is the last 4 or 5 chapters in naver was rated 3 or 4 starts consecutively for weeks. Yes, even the korean readera got fed up with the forced drama that happened at the end and this never happened to the series until author maybe secretly hated the MC, so author decided to fucked the MC further to the point of making the MC look stupid in the sense of "where the fck is your common sense?". Lastly, author went nuts.

If you asked me if i would recommend this series, then my answer ia YES and NO. Why? Yes because it started out great, had a good pacing of the story in like the first 100 chapters or so, and NO because you will be wasting your time if you don't like the blend of action and roman..- i mean heavy drama.

If you want to read this out of curiosity, i would advise you to stop reading it after the tournament arc, cause it went downhill so fast in just few chapters after the tournament arc, you'd realize you will be wasting your time if you force yourself to read this anymore.
It so sad that the author Introduced some characters that me and other readers believed If those characters had more screentime and got utilised properly in the story, it would make the webtoon better, sadly Those characters, especially best girl Wushu Girl, who has a potential to be a great character, was instead became a comic relief and author has forgotten her existence.
and a lot of characters who was prominent in the early arcs, was forgotten and the story focused on the romance of MC and girls for like 200 chapters. Imagine how dragged out the story became.

The ending was bland. Tho i noticed a lot of readers was glad it ended. That's how bad it became. Lol

If you want a good romance action/sports webtoon, then I'd recommend Green Boy.

Typical Shounen

Yup, and as is fairly common with these shounen (or at least "shounen-esque" since this is Korean), the biggest shame of it being padded and prolonged is that the initial story concept was solid. If you take only the first 50-ish chapters of this, we had an intense, dramatic story with psychological overtones of a young man's tragic life and his attempt to persevere and come to grips with not just his relations with others, but also his dramatically handicapped position in his society due to his economic status and broken home. Aaaaaand then they gave us 200 chapters of a generic fight manga biggrin

Ah well, yeah, I'd actually say this one would've been outstanding if they'd just stuck with their initial premise and not stretched it out.......probably would've been 75 to 100 chapters and excellent. Oh well, I still like/d it overall smile

Fairly close to a full 10 score

I really like this series. It isn't perfect, not QUITE a masterpiece, but it gets close.
The reason for that is, that it does some very unpredictable things, the art is top-notch and you don't have trouble following the series. I don't think I've noticed any jarring plot holes.

Girls of the Wild's follows certain stereotypes and for some they may be annoying, depending on who you are, what you don't like about yourself, and what your preferences are.
At the same time though, it doesn't do the usual stereotypes of the weak boy getting beat up, so he trains and wins, meets the next stronger guy and loses to him, so he trains again to win, rinse-repeat ad nauseam. He actually fails spectacularly here and there (Please note, that the series stays logical with the failing. It doesn't turn the boy into a wimp all the time.). In fact, the whole series doesn't focus enough on the martial arts for that cycle of hell to happen.

Which, while possibly a strong point of Girls of the Wild's, might also be one of its weak points. This series kind of hops back and forth between making romance and making martial arts the center piece. This can be annoying if you just want the one or the other, but it also lifts this series above most others in the genre.

Generally, the unpredictability of this series leads to comments and complaints being outdated in a matter of very few weeks, so you really have to take them with a whole bunch of grains of salt. I strongly suggest you read this webtoon and make up your own mind. I don't believe you'll waste your time.

Edit: Now that Girls of the Wild's has been completed, I can also talk about the ending. I personally feel that it was too compressed. It's not a bad ending, it's actually pretty nice to read. But I think it could've stood to be a few chapters longer.

Later in the manga it becomes more about him getting emotionally NTR'd and having his female friends stolen from him by random characters who have no character depth and bring nothing to the story. It was good at first but its now has become more disappointing because the author is ruining their own story.

It had it's moments but it just isn't worth my time anymore.
It wasn't bad, it just felt that a lot of events/plots/scenes just happened because the author decided it all of a sudden, and yes I do realize that that is what story writing is. Unfortunately, I asked myself what was the point of reading it and I couldn't find one, it's basically limbo in my head when I think of what I read so far. It was just not bringing me joy anymore.
So I say goodbye and good luck to those who wish to stick it out and enjoy it.

Unique series: read this before you decide to start this series

For those of you who hate it, and for those of you who love it, there is one undeniable fact. This series is unique. I, personally, love this webtoon because it portrays each character with incredible amount of detail, which you don't often see in many other series. The art is very well done, the humor is never forced and the plot is exciting. This series will even tug on your heart strings in the most unexpected scenarios. This, I now consider to be one of my favorite series out there because of how well everything is put together. From what I have seen, these are the following "critiques" that people have with this story:

1. Romance is bad: Let me explain something, this story isn't entirely just based on romance. If you are here for that, you should stop reading. I understand the male lead can be clueless about the 2 girls (which doesn't even really qualify this as a harem really), who like him, but almost all "actual" romance stories follow the same thing. It's only now that he has stepped up and shown his real feelings.

2. It's predicable: Also, not true, at all. People claim it follows the lose, train, win, get the girl formula, but I don't know what they have been reading. This story revolves around a weak boy, who even after training loses many battles. Surprisingly enough, after reading many sport stories, this has to be one of the most realistic. Now, (spoiler alert), he declines "wanting" the girl. There is nothing predictable about this series, and that's one reason I enjoy it so much. Proof of this, follow the comments below the webtoon on their naver site. Best example is from the latest chapters. People had NO idea that the events portrayed were going to happen.

3. It's stereotypical and cliche: Well no shit its stereotypical? It's about strong female leads who often get looked down on by males, which happens all the time in real life? Especially in the sports world? As for the series being cliche, how? Again, it brings back the predictability factor, this series doesn't portray the common male leads who train and become masters a few chapters down. I can't think of any major cliches in this series.

To each his/her own, I believe this series deserves more credit than it gets. For the haters, stop being so critical, and enjoy it. One day, this could easily become a hit animated series, which I am really hoping for.

It's a stereotypical and cliche story...The characters aren't anything special. Plus the fact that it follows the train, win, lose, train formula, makes it extremely predictable. I wouldn't have minded either if the characters were interesting, but they're one dimensional and there only to fulfill certain character tropes. The only redeeming quality in this manga, is the art. It is nice to look at, but ultimately doesn't add to the intensity of the story too much. The "romance" is pretty cringey as well...It doesn't come off a realistic or even believable. As the characters are so monotonous and unlikeable (especially the MC) even the romance falls flat.

gutless main male hero. and. non tolerable romance ..!!Read it for side character s

Our hero is the most unlikeable male character out there in recent years 150+ chapters all he gets is help from his surrounding..and he even can't stand up for himself....Believe me this manga is all about side characters..and they are likeable unlike our hero ...//
Main hero -everybody pity him because he is poor and weak::::
Cmon this is action manga ///our artist has got pen but not brain.....give some ball to protagonist::

I was always always always hoping,, in next chapter our hero will show some guts and fight for himself but damn ,,,side characters popped up and help him--for god sake this is action manga make our hero act like hero not who is watching action movie on TV
Romance--totally messed up:::
153 chapter complete still main guy doesn't know whether he love our main heroine or not and by the way he doesn't deserve her(our heroine is forced into marriage and our hero don't give damn about it)....believe me its first time I am not on our hero's side...and there is another girl she is full dedicated to our main guy despite him weak and he don't give damn about her...to be honest she is best character out there and she deserve way way way better.....but I am not author...
Anyway there are better action/romance out there ....I am regretting for wasted time///

Anyway I am done with this web toon///// regret for my precious hours/////

People keep saying that webtoons are great. This is just meh, and is as bad as a lot of manhwa I've read.

I'm bored after 5 chapters and continued on for another two before I dropped it. I've been avoiding this awhile, and I'm glad that I did. My curiousity did kill me and I didn't get any satisfaction.

I'll complain about character evolution: When you read on chapter in a week, it kind of slipped my notice, but reading it over from first chapter - it's totally off. MC hates women, has a darn good reason to do it, but he just get over it in blink of an eye. Same for original girls trio, they have their stuff and then just BAM, forget about it.
I wish it would have been done more fluid.
Story as well lacks a bit of natural flow, so to speak.

For a webtoon it has really nice art. Na... I'll even drop that webtoon part. It has really nice and fitting art style.

It's a great entertainment, so job well done, "Girls of the Wild's"!
