é,é I didn't find Kazehaya or Sawako dumb or anything in fact this story is one of those naive, cute, innocent, pure, sweet, & very nice.

First one I'll write something about the GUYS.
KAZEHAYA= a guy that doesn't know what to do but he does what he wants with her (not kissing her, touching her too much, just BEING NICE, TALKING TO HER, SMILING TO HER, BEING THERE FOR HER!), and he also thinks of her and he's a guy (he says what he means! most of the guys say something and do something as if they were girls é,é).
SAWAKO= She's a good girl, if she knows she's wrong she says SORRY, she's not dumb or anything in fact she's smart just a little bit clumsy when it comes to love (but she accepts her feelings and DO something about them!)
The FRIENDS= those two girls are like really popular, strong and nice. They gave her a second time and accept the girl, they are really GOOD FRIENDS, they LET SAWAKO DO HER THING BUT STILL STAND UP FOR HER WHEN THE TIME IS NEED.
THAT RYUU GUY= he's such an adorable character é,é I mean he's like a prince.~~

the story just make me feel like there are guys that can be there for the girls.

it's just really cute, n_n

Sawako could be a real character, I actually used be like Sawako when I was child, until I changed...
She is one of those few & unique characters that would scarcely exist in the real world, there's millions of people out there, why could there not be a "Sawako?" What's not realistic in Kimi ni Todoke is that poor Sawako would actually get eaten alive in "the real world," people aren't that nice & innocent...

Anyways, she grew up naive & innocent because she didn't experience certain stuff that most teens & children do.
And Sawako probably grew up with protective parents that didn't tell her about the cruelties of the world, they probably never told her about sex! She's living almost like a hermit & she's the way she is because since her parents haven't shown her the cruelties & stuff of the world or she hasn't experience such "bad" things herself. She sees it still the world beautiful, like a born child does. She's just not... "experienced," she's not yet... "tainted." She's still pure, & I'm very attractive to purity so I guess that's why I like Sawako very much. ♥

And I can totally relate to Sawako, though we aren't 100% alike, I know why she is the way she is, & hope she doesn't change because she is beautiful, kind, & pure. And I bet she could probably kick a** if her friends were in trouble.

So, yeah, there could be a "Sawako" out there or someone similar to her. I have a friend who's 16 & she's very kind, but naive & innocent (really she is, if you'd ask her a rhetorical question she'd actually answer & everyone says she has the mind of a child & other stuff), like Sawako, because of her overly protective & strict parents. She's not a lot like Sawako but she's similar in a way.

Now, anwyays, I like how sweet & refreshing this manga can be, it makes me smile when I read/watch Kimi ni Todoke because of Sawako's good heart. Not only do I obviously like Sawako, but I like her friends as well, especially Kurumi, not actually a friend but I like her, who I find more realistic than the bunch. The art is good & the story's alright. The sweetness, innocence, & happiness that obviously seeps through the pages is what I love most. ♥

Alright, now, time to get back to reality.

This manga started out adorable and refreshing. The art is very pretty and the manga had a 'breezy first love' sort of atmosphere. However, after we finally get what we anticipate in the manga, you lose interest.. well at least i did.

reading this and watching the anime gave me this strong deja vu feeling, why?because its JUST ANOTHER freaking shoujo manga, here you have the ugly(or supposed to be?) naive girl and the oh-so-perfect guy
shoujo is not my type of thing but since this got ridiculously high ratings i thought it might be special...or atleast well written,i mean itazura na kiss had most shoujo elements but idk why i still loved it...i guess its because it was well written and rlli funny...but this...this goes under the list of overrated crap which includes vampire knight ,fruits basket and others

I know this is not the right place to comment but i can't help it..sorry people
and please don't cuss on me because of that
Anyway i had just finish watching the anime (had it with me for like two weeks). Normally it wouldnt take me that long to finish an anime, but this anime dragged on so long that I was ALMOST dying inside. I quite after the first 10 episodes, then picked it up just for the boredom of it.
One of the things that really annoy me endlessly would be the guy's name. Never in one episode there would be no mention of it.
Kazehaya this Kazehaya that!! That name somehow gridded itself on my brain and not in a good way. It's like their trying to make a point that the name is really important.
The only thing i find really notable with this would probably be the part where Sawako had a misunderstanding with her two friends. It actually made me cry (and im not those easily moved typed of person)
anyway all in all its a nice anime *sorry again guys* but won't recommend it

I love this manga! It isn't the most exciting or world shaking plot-wise but it's one of those clean stories that just makes you feel good and want to be a better person or fall in love too. Kazehaya, the main boy is so refreshingly clean, kind and unprejudiced it's a nice break from all the perverts, delinquents, and internally messy love interests that dominate other romance mangas (although sometimes those can be fun too). The main girl is charming too in her own way, though her character type is a little more common--shy, pure, and unerringly hard working. What I like is that she starts out with nothing (she scares everyone around her and can't communicate at all) and grows from there. All the misunderstandings are a little frustrating sometimes and you just want to yell at them, "Just say it strait! Stop beating around the bush!!" but it doesn't make me like it less, just makes me want them to get through it more. Overall, I'd say this story is wonderful if you're feeling lonely or need something to cheer you up.

One of the most cute and touching mangas

This manga is so incredibly cute. What makes this manga so good and so much better than all of the other shoujo mangas out there is that this manga is not a typical high school, romance story. The manga seems to focus more on the friendships that are created between the main character and the people she meets throughout the story than on the boy-girl relationship that is developed somewhat later in the story. This is a very heart warming story about the importance of friendships. I liked it a lot because it emphasized the importance of friendships in high school more than the importance (although I don't think it's important at all) of having a boyfriend. A read that will definately put a smile on your face.

Refreshing, but mood of story is getting a bit stagnant...

The story is indeed cute and refreshing and it's nice to read some parts over and over again, I (read: loved) how naive Sawako is and how she tries to fit into the crowd and I (read: liked) how the mangaka showed that Kazehaya isn't the typical perfect bishie you can find in some other shoujo manga.

But the overall mood of the story is getting a quite a bit stagnant thus getting too boring; after chapter 46 I didn't anticipate anything much in this series any longer. Also, I kind of agree with the comment below mine - the story is run by misunderstandings, but it doesn't matter anyway.

It would've been nice if the manga would just be cut short but who knows, the mangaka might just have some plot tricks hidden in her sleeves. bigrazz

A girl who will forever be shy, dull and misunderstood
by Celianna

Rating: 4.0  / 10.0
Kimi Ni Todoke is about a shy girl who becomes even more introvert after people keep calling her Sadako, named after the girl from The Ring, the horror movie.

Because of this, Sawako can't seem to make any friends, plus she's incredibly shy (and awkward) as well. She admires the guy sitting next to her in class, who's the complete opposite of her; he's charming and has a lot of friends, always laughing and talking to people. Kazehaya however, becomes the first person to talk to her and remember her real name (Sawako, not Sadako). It's pretty obvious that they're gonna end up together.

Only the way it takes for them to end up together is extremely annoying. It is in Sawako's nature to misunderstand anything being said to her, and to apologize frequently for her (non)actions. This manga runs on misunderstandings. In fact, the biggest and most stupid misunderstanding was:
Spoiler (highlight to view)
When Kazehaya tried to confess to her that he liked her, but she misunderstands and thinks he only meant as a friend. She tried to say the same as well, that she likes him - but he also misunderstands and thinks she meant 'as a friend'.

That was the dumbest plot twist ever, it made me yell out loud, and angry that the mangaka thought this was clever and funny. No it wasn't, it was highly annoying!

You'd think that a slice of life manga like this would feature character development, to turn the shy and innocent, and very naive girl into a more confident and outspoken girl, who likes herself at the end. No such thing happens, it's why it's not even one of the categories here on MangaUpdates. That's what really annoyed me about the series. Sure Sawako ends up with friends, but only through the actions of someone else, but not through her own actions. She never does anything, she stays the same girl in the beginning as in the end, only with more friends and a crush. She doesn't change, and that truly annoys me to see her still getting into misunderstandings so late in the manga. Same goes for her love interest Kazehaya, who seems to stay the same as well, only paying more attention to Sawako.

In fact, I didn't like both of these characters. Sawako is dense, really stupid and very naive. Kazehaya seems charming, but he hasn't got much going for him either.

I find it hilarious that another reviewer said this manga has a unique storyline and realistic situations. Really? What storyline is that? It's about how a girl and boy can get into countless of misunderstandings before they finally get together, nothing unique about it. Also, realistic? Have you read inside the spoiler up there? What the heck is so realistic about that? It was so unrealistic it made me stop reading. I understand many people love this manga to bits, but they shouldn't pretend this is unique or realistic. There's nothing realistic about Sawako's character.

If you're like me and hate shy girls who will never ever change and get into countless of misunderstandings because she's so naive it hurts - I definitely don't recommend this manga. If you love shoujo in general, sure go ahead and read it, you'll probably love it.

Unfortunately, I didn't.
