Crumbles, still, it's somewhat decent

Starts off very well, the first season is great the second one starts well too but it goes downhill from there it becomes incoherent and it makes little sense, keeps inventing things out of the blue and characters relations become completely ridiculous without bothering to explain much of what happens.
It’s a pity really but it keeps getting worse. I'm still hoping it gets back on track thou, much wasted potential here imo.
First season is an 8-8.5, second season depends on the arc, goes from 3 to 6.
Edit (end S2): In any case, even with the downfall as a whole it's a decent manhwa with some very bad parts, it just became a more generic/classic shounen with lots of fights and too many weird and incoherent stuff going on, some completely off imo, the author sometimes notices his blunders and tries to mend it later but sometimes it's like putting a bandage on an exposed bone fracture. Lack of consistency and the Rachel plot are the main bad aspects imo.
I've read many many mangas with MC's with plot armor, but this is the first I've ever seen a bad guy with such a thick plot armor. I have been waiting for that b**ch to be taken down but I'm foreseeing that she'll be there till the end... a pity, I can see her either having a change of heart at the last moment or play as gollum for the story.
I'm also have lot's of troubles with time frames in the story, the timeline seams a bit strange to me, like, how many thousands of years passed since the 10 families took power? are all chars immortal? or they just have ridiculously long lives?
One thing this series still does very well is the power balance, I mean, the MC and companions and all their enemies are really weak, they really don't hold a candle to any of the real powers in the tower, even now that still holds, I wonder just how many chapters will it take for them to shorten the breach... 1000? And that there is the main good thing in the second season imo, the training of all the several parts, the transition from newborns to fledglings ready to fly..

Just how many years old is Bam? how old is Rachel?
Alternatively, did his mother spend millennia wondering before birthing him?
How come Rachel knows Bam's mother but Bam doesn't?

This started as interesting and was great once. Then it became a dull, decent series I kept reading. Then it became seriously dumb for a while after Bam was 'killed', and I actually dropped it. I picked it back up once I saw that some action has returned but now, after seeing the main character still following after the girl IN THE SAME MANNER, AND WITHOUT ANY CHANGE OR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT at all; I am just gonna put this one down for good.
You would think something would've change after so many things happen and so much time passes. I am fine with MC being a psychopathic stalker, but I am not fine with him being the exact same pathetic stalker he was through out the series after all this time.

Seriously WTF just happened to this webtoon ? Starting from Workshop battle arc it seemed to have lost all it's charm...
what is the purpose fro Baam climbing the tower now to chase after Rachel to confront Rachel and then do what Musings of Naruto chasing after Sasuke written all over it....
Shame because i thought this Webtoon really had potential, but the author completely took the wrong turn starting from that workshop battle arc which was hyped up so big but failed at everything....now we are left with too many useless characters who serve no purpose, Lame MC who has no purpose and Plot that could have been an epic grand scale adventure turned into obsessive and Voyeuristic attempt to cling onto something

I like ToG. I has many characters, its interesting keeping a tab on them all. It manage to be both funny and serious at times. There are a lot of nice twists here and I await the moment when all of these OP characters will start turning on each other - OP battle is dream come true. However... lately it seems to be stuck. I stopped reading more than a year ago in order to wait for more chapters and when I decided to catch up I found out that for that time nothing happened! WTF?! New characters are there but the old ones are pretty scarce. Bam acts too cold and damn it! Why the hair? I liked his girlish looks :< Oh, well. ToG is again on hold and I`ll probably give it a try after maybe 60-70 new chapters. See you next year ^^

This webtoon is divided into 2 parts and sadly even the quality is divided into 2 just as that
Part 1
- Team Work
- Great Characters
- Great Games
- Mystifying Tower and it's secret
....Overall PERFECT! 10/10
Part 2
- Great Beginning, Dark baam was good reveal at first
- Workshop arc it stars "the Slow Death" of this webtoon
- Redundant and too many lame characters, now it's hard to keep track of anybody...
- Games does not have that same shine that Part 1 have infact it feels Boring and draggy
- Lame twists and manipulation, doesn't have that "Wow WTF" Factor of part 1
- MC doesn't have any Goal except Chasing Rachel (aka sasuke)
I have to say part 2 has made me completely despise this webtoon and hence the low score

While the 1st season was great, the 2nd season is kinda a bummer. Serious drop on quality of writing.
On the other note, I still don't really understand Baam's motivation. I mean, cmon, she's not even Jennifer Aniston's Rachel. She's the backstabbing jerk Rachel. Just hire a high ranker hitman and move on. Baam's whining over and over on how he need to meet Rachel is becoming hard to read.

Only the first season was worth reading
The second season is like whirlwind of characters and arcs...the author endlessly tries to highlight other characters more and more which is confusing because after a while one cannot tell them apart. The main plot only progresses after 60-70 chapters.

The first season of ToG was amazing. Twists, betrayals, and atypical characters were everywhere, and the season ending was a particular highlight.
But at some point early in season 2, something went wrong. The tone changed: a large proportion of the plots became predictable or boring or pointless, the author wrote far more characters than he could meaningfully sustain, etc.
All that said, ToG at its worst is better than many series at their best (e.g. Noblesse) - if that weren't the case, I would've stopped reading a long time ago. As is, I still habitually read each new weekly chapter as it's released, hoping for the brilliance of the first season, but this expectation is basically never met.

I wrote a very long tedious review about how good this manhwa is, and how it will improve over time. Sadly, that does not seem like it will happen.
People argue that season 2 is where things started declining. To be more precise, I think the first 40-50 chapters of the season 2 is super solid, in some ways better than season 1. The art is better and establishing a sense of mystery and foreboding was also quite well done.
That is... until the workshop battle. That's where things REALLY went downhill. It feels like the author transformed into a totally different person.
Possible reasons for the declining quality?
(1) author's habitual wrist problem, which apparently still needs surgery or some effective long-term treatment --> affects the coloring, art, and how many quality panels you can dedicate
(2) overall health --> less creative, less logical flows, bad dialogues, tendency to draw things out, etc. Being a comic writer is tough on one's health.
(3) stopped giving a damn --> hey it's a problem that many artists face. It's possible the author just stopped giving a damn.
Here are my tips to the author:
(1) take a long ass hiatus: no one gives a shit about this manhwa at this point
(2) work on improving health: meditation, proper sketching posture, exercise, diet, etc.
(3) improve on art, especially action scenes
(4) announce to publishers that the last 120 chapters was all part of a lame joke - a demonstration of what poor story writing is all about
(5) start a whole new workshop battle and actually make it good and logical OR take the story in a whole different route.
The most appealing aspect of tower of god is its world building. But it suffers in its execution and details. The first season was very good at the execution and details, and combining that in conjunction with a dedicated wiki page gave the series a sense of balance and mystery. I've been reading Tokyo Ghoul and I'm amazed by the level of sophisticated dialogues and plot building. But it still manages to establish that sense of macro-level big scale that leaves people wanting more.

This webtoon is amazing , SIU is genius , i finish reading and it is the best thing i've ever read , the story and the world , everything about it is so refreshing , the thing that surprises me the most is , there are characters that didn't make any appearance and yet the development they get is outstanding.
