When it ended, I can only say I sighed with disappointment. such a masterpiece ending. I can only say i wanted it to continue on forever. But, since it ended, at least they gave this manga a finish that certainly kept up to its level.
although at the start it had a, somewhat, repetitive storyline within the first volume or two to set the pace, i'm glad i stayed with it. around chapter 100 was when i think it truly changed, and for the better. the plot became thicker, the characters more explained, and true intentions emerging. best of all, this all happened whilst in a unique view of politics.
all of this was all neatly complimented by the art, making it unforgettable.

All I can say was wow on how the manga ended. Really had my eyes sticked to the computer screen for 20 chapters.
Anyway, Akumetsu is one of those few original gems you can find in the world of manga. The story is very impressive and intelligent, it's no pyschological manga but it really makes you think. The character Shou a.k.a Akumetsu is just really awesome which makes up the flare that this story gives off. In other words, a must read for anyone who is a fan of a well put together story.
The ending volumes were kick ass, i won't forget this manga anytime soon.

It might not make a lot of sense in the beginning, and it might get repetitive but the plot picks up and thickens into a very well made story. The last forty or so chapters are nail-biting, and the conclusion is fantastic. A must-read.
Awesome!

It's a really great manga! At first it was just 'rather good' and didn't make much sense to me. It just had great art, some cute girls and some really intense action scenes which didn't make sense at all.
But then the story intensifies and becomes a lot more interesting as it's explained...
I recommend it strongly!

Great! Suprisingly deep story in somewhat apocalyptical setting

I took this title to just read some seinen, fighting off disappointment that Team Medical Dragon is translated only to 60+ chapter and wanting to put my mind on something else.
At first Akumetsu seems like a flashy gory shounen full of nonsense. I've kept reading simply because I liked stuff about corrupted government, which fit perfectly in that of my own nation's. And then, gradually, all that over-the-top crap started to make sense, and a brilliant story unravelled,
I've stopped at chapter 130, will definitely be back in the future when enough of unread chapters will gather.
Akumetsu is not for kids, it's a good and gritty story, reminds me a bit of Boondock Saints in way of us dreaming to fix that rotting world of corruption and evil. It incites burning anger that all those scumbags out there keep leeching life out of normal people and remain above law and justice, untouchable. Akumetsu them!!!

Interesting start and definitely an anti hero MC.
However I'm not sure whether I like the ending or not.
I have read this long time ago and I can't remember any impactful moment except for the ending..
Give it a try if you want to kill some time..

Violence, extremely intricate story structure, and a great main character make this manga easily a 10. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but a thrill ride for those who have the guts. Story progressed quote fluidly and though the ending felt a bit wanting (but honestly who doesn't feel the same when finishing a series that they love so much) the thrill of the main life of the story more than makes up. Definitely put this at the top of your "wish list."

You will enjoy this manga if you like:
Death Note, Code Geass, Green Day, Boondock Saints, 1000 Ways to Die.
This manga pleased me to no end. Half the time I was saying "Wait, seriously!?" and the other half I was either speechless of laughing my tail off. The concept itself isn't that new, but the way it is played out, and all the details were so original. It was very unpredictable, and I couldn't stop reading it because I had no idea what was going to happen next. Personally, I loved the ending and it wraped it up nicely. It could have had a cutscene where Shou (the main character, who totally looks like Vash from Trigun (another absolutely amazing manga that everyone HAS to read)) comes back, but it's all cool, the closure to the series was nice, and rather unexpected once again. Anyways, read this manga, it is wonderful.

^ saying that is how you end the series.. Tragic ending, couldn't have it any other way though.
All around, I'd say it was a 10 because hell, it was a thrill to read and it was a thinker, not as much as death note because death note was more based on strategy than this, but it made up with it's fast pace and thrill.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I reallllllllllllly wish one of the Shou's lived on with Shina, but that's just the romantic side of me, he tried so hard to keep her alive and saved her at the end too, he really loved her...
