Not surprised to see that this was axed. The manga got off to a pretty good start, but after a few chapters it's apparent that the mangaka just doesn't have his pacing down - it's just action one after another, with little development in between. It's a bit of a shame, since I do think that this could be done well and the art is actually pretty good, but it's really not as engaging as it could be.

It disappoints me that this series hasn't been continued. It really has potential on going a lot of different ways. Whatever the author decides to do is probably a good decision either way. All in all this was a great short manga. It had me deeply interested in it and then just ended. Haha, he really knows how to jerk on a chain to keep someone going.
Good art, semi-well developed plot, and a mesh of character development was really what drew me in. Also, most of the scanlations were decent, keep up the good work!

I know somebody consider this manga isn't good. But in my country, in forums, everyone always wait for every translated chapter. In 1 forum, I posted 1 chapter and just 1 hour after, there were more than 500 viewers. There were some one consider Akaboshi as one of the most intersting manga at the moment. Everyone like the humorous and creative style of this manga. Hope Amano sensei, one day, will continue this great manga

The art work was pretty sketchy (literally), which is a nice change. Its character design is different from the stereotypical "big-head, small-body" type of manga, which is appreciated. But, it is somewhat boring, especially in the down time that just filling in pages. But the flow of the characters seemed good.
Over all I'd say it's pretty good

I like the art and the funny moment are very cool but I find the story boring. Maybe it´s just the beginning but shouldn´t the beginning be one of the best parts of a manga ?. well, I won´t read anymore of this.
overrated

i don't understand why everybody is praising the artwork of this manga..
the opening was flashy.. but the rest of the pages had sketches that were so dull and unrefined that I couldn't tell what was going on
the storyline is interesting... but the protagonist is an asshole..
and the "chivalrous" thieves couldn't care less about the peasants.. all they give a damn about is taking over the country
but weapon and outfit design was sick, and the comedy's decent... which are the main reasons why I bothered to read it

Like many other readers I was engrossed by the amazing art put into the manga. However as I continued to read the other chapters I realized how dull the story is. I do agree the story plot is unique in its own way however I can seem to find the effort put into the plot to make worth continuing reading. Chances are I'll stop reading after a few more chapters if the story continues the way it is.
It looks nice, but that's about it.

Akaboshi is ONLY recommended to those of you who think Air Gear represents good storytelling. Otherwise, pretend this series doesn't exist.
Akaboshi has hands-down, some of the best artwork I've ever seen. Period. For this fact alone, the manga will garner heaps of slavering fanboys. But artwork can only get you so far--not even Obata Takeshi could keep Blue Dragon: Ral Ω Grado alive for more than 4 volumes. And this is the situation that we face here with Akaboshi: it's fantastic to look at, but actually attempting to read the thing will give you a headache.
I hate to be so harsh since we're only 4 chapters in, but whoever is in charge of writing the novel-to-manga adaptations for this series is, quite frankly, incompetent. As a reader, I constantly feel like I'm missing something, like things that were in the original novel are being skipped over and rushed through. The overall pacing is not only jerky, but the manga also frequently shifts from slapstick comedy to intense action and back again with little emotional build up in between. Worse still, the quick transition of events from panel to panel occurs with such rapidity that it'll give you whiplash. In one panel the characters are shown walking through a town, and in the next they're someplace else, with no explanation for how or why they got there. Not being able to get through an entire page of manga without having to stop and ask yourself why this or that thing is happening is tedious and spoils the pleasure of reading.
As of now, I recommend waiting until there's at least 20 or so chapters of this series before giving it a try since by then the mangaka may have improved. For now, I'm putting this series on hold and will come back to it later. Reading a manga just for the artwork (as I'm doing now) is simply not worth it.
EDIT: And it was just (unsurprisingly) canceled. Akaboshi got somewhat better as it went along--the pages got less cluttered and unreadable, but it simply never became an enjoyable manga for me, and certainly did nothing to lift itself above the crowd of "generic action shonen" mangas. So: a dull manga with a rough start that never got a chance to develop due to an early cancellation? Your call if you actually want to bother with it.

The main character is an anti-hero, kinda like a cold-blooded assassin.
The art is very beautiful. This manga contains a good amount of Action, Drama and a little Comedy.
