Good overall

I didn't like the first and last stories. I actually felt the plots and characters were pretty unrealistic and the author tried to make a lot of bad BL clichés work and failed.
However, I really enjoyed the second and third stories and somewhat liked the fourth one.
This manga is definitely worth the read for those 3.

1st story: (ch1-2 + Extra) It's Cute...! Funny and really Great! Not perfect obviously, but makes me Happy and relieved. 9 point
2nd story: (ch3) it was cute. Again, not perfect. But i really like the moments; from confused, to rejected, to demanding. 8 point
3rd story: (ch4) I skipped and then go back after read all the chapters. Better than i expected. 7 point
4th story: (ch5-6) There's a taste of bittersweet at first, but the Bright Future chapter is a relief. 8 point.
5th story: (ch7) this one personally makes me emotional and then absolutely relieved. i'm weirdly giving it 9 point.

One of the best collections

This is one of those collections where I enjoyed all of the stories. This manga is such a refreshing read. It doesn't try to work up your mind much but you won't get bored. I like the 100 yen and the haircut story the most, they're the most enjoyable out of all the stories. But if I had to choose which is the best among the two, it would be the 100 yen. I want to at least get a glimpse on what's gonna happen next after the ending.

Highly recommended.

The Early BL Beginnings of Ogawa Chise Sensei

This collection is of her first works’ and they all share the flaw of just that. Don’t focus too much on the stories and just enjoy the brilliant art and flow of Ogawa sensei.

The first couple were ok. Nothing was too annoying about the story and a little background to the seme’s attraction to the insecure uke is provided in the extra in the sequel
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(I frankly liked that because of the glimmering close up of the uke towards the end).

Now ‘The False Barber Manga’ is my favorite of the collection and it makes me happy to know that this was her first BL and doujinshi. It’s very adorable and the art is so attractive. The story is well put together and the two friends are entertaining for side characters.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I like my ukes to want to have sex; bringing a condom with him for his seme. Silly goose, only giving him one condom.
Great start of her BL career.

I like to read about that kind of uke in the third story.

The 100 yen story is my second favorite of the bunch because it had such an interesting approach.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Also, I always enjoy it when we see that the couple still happily share their future together.

Finally, the oneshot about candies was sweet. I felt a little seme x seme potential so I’m imagining it’s true in my mind.

This collection is a nice quick read so just go for it.

The 5t chapter is nice

I really liked the story about 100 yen. The story about long-term relationship with the secret adoration at first - really nice. And the aspect about uke being chep etc. - that makes sense in life as well. Even though the author made a miscalculation, this story alone get 10.
Other stories really have the spirit of amateur mangaka, but i like this author and her plots are still interesting - like stories about green love.
So on il all 9,5.

as a testament for ogawa sensei ability to spun words full of heat, that even without any explicit sex, im burning all over. theres nothing overtly sexual unlike other yaoi out there, however the hooded eyes full of passion, the curve of the boys' back, the long lithe limb entangling each other just speak 'sex' to me. her art and story telling is top notch.

Good enough for me

Considering that this volume consists of the very first BL works that Ogawa Chise-sensei published a while back, I would say that they are very promising as a start for a BL author. Sure she did mention that she had to redraw most of the panels later on, but that just goes to show that she has been improving a lot as an artist, while her stories were already good at the beginning, at least good enough for me. I like the characters enough to care for them, and even if these stories aren't really plot-driven I could still enjoy them to a large extent. Call me biased since I love the author so much, but objectively speaking you gotta admit this is a rather decent collection.

a lovely batch of stories for the sweet tooth

Usually what I like from a short story collection is that each story can hold itself up as a proper short. That means some sort of plot, interesting characters and a resolution for each. In an anthology you shouldn't expect deep development in story lines because there literally isn't enough time or space within the limits of the short story. For me, what makes a good short story is one that has the potential to be drawn out to something beautiful, with more plot development of course, which means the base has to have something there first. There needs to be that spark like when you hear a catchy song and it sticks in your head all day regardless of being good or bad. Whether it's because of the refreshing art style, the likeability of the characters or the simplicity of the romances, something just clicked for me with this manga. I read each story expecting to be disappointed at some point by a painfully obvious filler story, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I genuinely enjoyed each one I read. The trick is to not approach this manga expecting a meal to satisfy the empty stomach; like candy, the stories will dissolve on the tongue, leaving nothing but sweet traces. You'll be happy but craving something more substantial.

Some stories are quite good

1st story is rather bad...it's actually killed from the very beginning...I face-palmed most of the time... so won't rate it more than 3.
2nd story was quite good. Nicely developed and there are visible emotions. Giving 8.
3rd story: Good but no masterpiece. But still it would deserve at least 7.
4th story. Actually I think if it would be more developed ...like the background and so...it would be much better. But the way it is... I rate it 6,5.
Nice set but nothing too special...and poorly developed story..you feel like the story somewhere in the middle just skip forward. So 4,5.
