10 Volumes = 49 Chapters (Complete)

Just awsome. i thought of Titan while reading this one. it's just so good, can't no like it.
it got lot of potensiel, and made me sip so much heart beat. mystery, action, and a little sad.
You know that feeling you get when you find a manga that is just perfect for you? It has all the guilty pleasures you want. I'm not some professional reviewer, it won't take much to satisfy me. It's zombies with a twist -that's it. But it's just pure stupid fun and that's why I love it!! There's a zombie boss for Christ sake!! It's a risky plot choice that's a hit or miss but it just feels natural to me.
I say read the first couple of chapters. Ignore the stupid justice system, the pointless violence, the less that stellar MC ( he gets way better but you want to kill him in the first chapter). And remember that it's juvie so 98% of the inhabitants are apes that have no common sense. Don't expect rocket science level thinking! Heck even elementary school level is a stretch >_<
Seriously, this just got me hook right from the start. The characters are all good. They were created in synch with the story and their actions. Most manga with a modern action setting where they are suddenly stuck in a situation where it's "Kill or be Killed", they just all of a sudden get this super natural strength thingy and manage to survive. But this manga doesn't have that. The three main characters' abilities were all developed (except Maeda) and has a base seeing as how they are in juvenile jail (Whatever that is) so people can't really wonder how they learned to fight or wield weapons. There is also that one thing where there is a brainiac on the group and all the smart words and actions come from him, In this manga, not all the smart ideas come from the brainiac.
Maeda, on the other hand, there are a lot of readers who says he's weak, a wimp, and all that but that ain't true at all. You'll realize that once you've read this great manga. He's actually doing great for someone who doesn't have any fighting ability as the other three characters and he's hanging in there. He's also got great spirit and one may call him the heart of the group, or something like that. If it were me, I would have been crying or shivering in a corner but Maeda only cried the first time he saw a zombie up close and it was understandable seeing as how he's about to get eaten and all that **it was just sinking in. Also his ability in being able to fight isn't overstated, unlike in some mangas. His shooting ability is average and he isn't showed as someone who could shoot the undeads right on the head immediately.
The plot is great. I find it awesome how there's a 'boss-like' zombie in there, having the ability to control zombies.
Honestly, I can't deal with zombies and gore, it just scares and creeps the heck out of me, but i love reading it (wierd aren't I). But this ones different, this manga is good for both die hard zombie fans and the weak hearted (coming from a horror novel fan and a coward at the same time). Not only does it have good plot and characterization, it has one of the most important aspects of manga, comedy. Really, i laughed at a few parts of it when
[spoiler] Maeda defends himself with chopsticks only to be bluntly remarked by others like "what are planning on eating us with chopsticks"(coming of the top of my head) and many aspects as well which I can't remember [\spoiler]
This manga also shows "nakama-ship" between the characters and not to mention they all have different characters.
So Thumbs up for this, this manga is really good read.
I can't say much without giving it away but this is my favorite zombie manga / anime ever and it's amazing , The characters are like able and realistic , the plot is good, the horror is amazing but not too scary , and there's a little twist READ NOW SERIOUSLY, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.its so addictive
Nothing new about this one. So generic even the author seems to know it, avoiding at any cost using the word zombie to describe the dead.
Clueless protagonist, sociopathic gang proving the value of friendship, total dystopia etc. They go on wasting ammo and putting their lives on the line for no clear purpose.
This series is for anyone who likes zombies. It has a complex plot, good art, complex characters, and best of all it keeps you on the edge of your seat with every chapter. I highly recommend this series.
I'm a huge zombie fan but these zombies are beyond AWESOME!
They are ugly, nasty and absolutely disgusting!
zombies+prison+badass characters= WIN!
I like hotd but this IS better.
I don't think it needs a female chara because it would automatically give it romantic atmosphere...
I like it the way it is right now and don't understand the low rating either.
People TRY it! I'm impatiantly waiting for the next chaps!
So far I've only read the scanlated chapters but I can say that I like this series. I'm not a fan of gore and zombies since it's included in the horror section but I can bottle up my fear because I can't help but read this series. I love how the art isn't too anime-ish or too shounen-esque but a bit of realistic style with just enough flair of manga/shounen-ness. I also love how the zombies are drawn that when I click for the next page I had to zoom out or read fast just not to stare at it too much. The characters are really interesting and I have to agree with the others that I like the four protagonists and somehow you just can't hate them. The way Maeda changed and how the characters' past is slowly being shown also adds to the factors why I like it. The pace is not too fast but also not too slow. I do hope though that a girl character would be shown. Probably the girl Maeda thought of when he first entered the juv.
All in all I think this is a good read (so far) and you wouldn't regret it.
Art: 10/10
The detail is amazing, the gore ... screen worthy, and the characters look great.
Character: 10/10
The characters are well drawn, and have fairly easy names to remember, which is nice. The four protagonists are really likeable - usually when I read this sort of thing there's at least one character that I cannot STAND; but they're all brilliant. And I love the creepy zombies.
Plot: 10/10 (so far)
I've only read the chapters that have been scanlated of late, so I don't know if I'll agree with my own statement, say, when the series ends. But so far, the plot is fascinating ... for a zombie manga.
Anyway ... I can honestly conclude my crappy little review here by saying: READ. THIS. NOW.
