Chocolate Christmas was my first Naoko Takeuchi read!
It consists of two short stories which are both cute and corny. But hey - it's a Christmas themed romance story - it's supposed to be corny!
This volume certainly gets a bonus as both stories have themes I like; the first having a Christmas theme and the second a rain theme.
Unfortunately I had difficulties understanding the stories. But I think that is more the editions fault rather than the stories. The pages are mirrored so it can be read from left to right and that doesn’t always work out well with the panels. Because of that it was sometimes confusing who was saying what and to whom and in what freaking order is it supposed to be read anyway?
But on to the actual stories:
Chocolate Christmas was – as mentioned before – corny. It didn’t bother me though. The characters and art were both cute and it was fun to watch the main characters argue with each other. My only issue with this story was that there were several side characters which looked very similar to the male lead who has a variety of different names – it took a while to figure out that all these names belonged to the same person (“Keike” and “Cake” being the most confusing part as it was never really explained where all the “Cake” business suddenly came from).
The second rain themed story – Wink Rain – was much easier to follow and felt more down to earth than Chocolate Christmas. I think it’s a pretty realistic story about three childhood friends and I quite liked both male lead characters!
All in all they are cute reads for in between or perhaps for Christmas time! : )
I am growing more and more fond of older manga style so this one suited me just fine! It had some very lovely panels!

.. it's kinda not understandable at the beginning specially for someone who is a fast reader , but after you read it for like 25 pages it becomes interesting .. the story , plot & art was cute .
i like it & was shocked that it was beyond what i imagined .. i thought it would be boring but it wasn't .. it is worth reading !!

Even though it was short, this manga was one of the first to be written by Naoko Takuechi. any real Takuechi fan must read this. The art is adorable, and the plot is simple and cute. It was simply a shoujo ^-^

The story of the plot of this manga is very stale and I have stopped half way because it lacks interests. I am not getting any romance/shoujo feel from this manga. I do not mind the artwork, but like I had said, it needs a better plot.
