Description
From SuBLime

Miki Terayama saved Teru from getting roughed up by some punks. They’re both in love with other guys, but one thing leads to another, and they’re fooling around. Teru acts like a stray dog that hasn’t been fed in ten days. He consumes Miki’s love quick and rough, and that can be quite a pain in the butt!

180 degress turn over

OMFG~! this was 180 degrees turn over to me! It's different to what I've read lots of YAOI manga and even on drama I haven't cry this much ..... totally so wonderful and I will give *two thumbs up* I'm going to RE-Read this for sure it's my first time so touched and being attached to this kind of story I LOVED IT~!

at the Ending my chest it feels so tight that i couldn't breath from the emotions I feel while reading ... 'til i noticed like i have my own world filled with tears. Hearth-throbbing and so many emotions that you can get from reading such a great story from Mdoru Motoni & Erio Oka =)

The very first yaoi I gave the rate of 10. (Second was Not Equal by Ike Reibun) The art is really good and their expressions were well drawn (especially their happy faces). Very good narration and realistic emotions--given that they were delinquents. The pair was not too cheesy. It was practical and natural. The plot was simple but well-developed and well-delivered. I had fun reading it the first time. And I still had fun reading it the second time. smile

This was a real gem for me because of the scale of this piece, how the characters were able to move me and how I was drawn into the story!
I really loved it and would recommend it to everyone! It's a must read for a real yaoi fan!

For only a length of three volumes, this series really does pack an emotional punch. I'm trying to put together a summary of what happens in this series, but to be honest, not a lot happens in terms of plot. Dog Style is primarily character-driven and the two main leads take you on an emotional roller coaster ride of ups and downs.

Dog Style is not your typical run-of-the-mill yaoi, heck it's not even your run of the mill anything. Motives, reasonings and feelings are often difficult to comprehend and sometimes suspect. The only consistency is the growing attraction between Miki and Chiaki. The pace is frenetic, much like some of the wild escapades and running gags in the story. Erotic, sometimes absurd, comedic and dramatic, this is one of those instances where the how - not the what - keeps you reading.

If you've read any other work by this same manga-ka, then it should be quite easy to jump into Dog Style. If you're like me however, and this was your first time reading Modoru Motoni, then it might take some minor adjusting to get used to her manner of writing and drawing. Don't let the art throw you off. I skimmed the first couple of pages and couldn't get past the strangeness of her style and almost put the series aside. I don't know why I continued reading, but it must have been the overwhelming positive reviews that decided me otherwise (for which I'm extremely grateful). Now that I've done a couple of re-reads and have gone through some of her other works, I've been completely converted. She is now one of my favorite manga artists.

I only had a couple of minor complaints with the series. I thought the running stray dog metaphor was a tad forced in places and despite having read an official English translated version of the series, I still found some of the conversations confusing. Based on some of the reviews I've read about her other works, Motoni is fond of using Japanese puns and wordplay, which probably accounts for some of the odd phrasing and nonsensical conversations. It's a shame there weren't a couple of pages of side notes explaining the meaning behind some of these translations.

I'm not sure how it is for others, but my enjoyment for reading something is increased by tenfold when I really like the main characters. There was something about Chiaki and Miki that made them magnetic and enthralling. They're two complex individuals with some heavy emotional baggage who only come together at first for the most superficial of reasons (sex). It's not even enjoyable for one of the individuals the first few times. While the sex may seem passionate at first, it becomes fairly obvious that the lack of a deeper connection makes it what it is - just sex. However, their love-making subtly becomes more involved and erotic (oh my, their kisses were nose-bleed worthy!) as their relationship evolves. They aren't perfect individuals, and depending on how much you buy into the story, you'll either like them or hate them. So take my advice and don't expect anything when you start reading.

There's probably more I say about Dog Style, but it's just one of those series you have to experience by actually reading it. It's the kind of story that grips you from the start and wrings you out by the end, but you're glad you stayed along for the ride.

I remember reading this one twice. It's a good manga with a bit of a complex plot and characters with a lot of depth. They have a lot of problems and some past traumas which makes this manga realistic and a bit dark.

It's not all fluff and pure love, there's some comedy, but there's also some darker and more serious subjects on it.

kevs926 Condoms are VERY important in the life of a sexually active individual. They will save you from a lot of things and keep you out of trouble most of the time. So I recommend reading up on what they are and how they work wink

overwhelming dialogues, touching relationships and naive characters

I don't really understand, why I'm giving it 10/10. While reading it, I had been often confused by the translation, I couldn't keep up with the dialogues (I don't really know, is it a translation or Motoni Modoru herself). But there is something about the plot and the characters and their confusing dialogues.Overwhelming, touching and naive). Oh my.. I want to reread it! I suppose, it's just something emotionally close to me. For me, it has a similar feeling as "Let Dai".
After reading some of her works, I came to think that Motoni Modoru is very talanted ^^.

Cut off the very end-- and it's brilliant

Extremely good yaoi, profound, enticing, moving, with very 'real' characters and emotions.
Just get rid of the very end, where the author unfortunately added some useless incoherent fake drama, and you get one of the best series of the genre.

i love this manga i thought the way the relationship played out was executed well
there was actual development the characters had a history and friends which made them much more 3 dimentionsal
i just wish it was a bit longer - personally i could have read a bit more but it prob did end in the right place.

Breath Taking

Initially i was hesitant upon reading this manga. It seemed boring and the drawing style was more seinen. However after reading further, it evidently improved, with the main characters' relationship developing deeper. The manga focuses chiefly on the two main characters and although there are many side characters, they are quite static. Teru and Miki out stand them, claiming the spotlight with their special bond. I loved the concept of the characters being like stray dogs, always on the run.. it was very refreshing and nice (especially the end) I'm real glad that i didn't stop reading this.
