It's a bit of a pity this series got such useless and misleading comments so far. They read as if for some reviewers it was their first Xianxia or even fiction novel.
In short, this is a web-novel with a unique, entertaining and intelligent yet typical reincarnation Xianxia story with well planned, barely foreseeable, however, repeating and convenient plot with average to good Xianxia writing quality.
Writing quality refers to the language and expressions the author uses, and average Xianxia level of quality equals to barely acceptable general novel quality.
You should understand that the protagonist is completely self-centered, cruel and evil not exclusively but in particular because he quickly grasps the brutality and cynicism of the new reality he ended up in, and that the sense of equality and moral justice of his previous world have no chance to prosper, gain him anything or preserve his life.
Hence, while the conditions of the law of the jungle are similar to other Xianxia stories the author doesn't notably justify the main character's actions with his circumstances or moral justice. Instead, this cynic lead casts away the now useless ethics and embraces the life of following one's personal benefit, pursuing a specific goal.
That said, despite the interesting portrayal of humans' vanity and egoism in its uninhibited form and the reminder on how essential our biological equality is to our social equality, this is still intended to be a leisure read of action and adventure for an established audience of Xianxia fans. So it isn't surprising that the MC chooses and encounters, respectively, a surprisingly fortunate chain of decisions and opportunities, and that the novel, similarly to many other works of this genre, suffers from occasional babbling, simplification, retrospective relativization, and redundancy. Still, although the writer cannot be exactly praised for literal creativity and elegance it is still acceptable and doesn't affect the reading experience too much.
Unfortunately, since the Chinese audience perceives language and consumes international media differently the author's generous use of names, environments from popular literature, media, cities, etc. appears quite cheesy or lazy to a Western reader.
Regarding specifics, I guess, I have to emphasize that the power of the chip isn't overwhelming, it is actually barely any different from powerful teachers or items MCs in other Xianxia stories can rely on during their accelerated progress. The MC isn't trash without it either, it is just his physical body that he took over which is average.
Considering how so many people vote 10/10, 5/5 unless something consciously bugged them, and that this novel's quality is, in my opinion, on par with popular stories like Wu Dong Qian Kun (Novel), Chaotic Sword God (Novel) or Ni Tian Xie Shen (Novel), I'd say it deserves more of such full ratings. However, for my own list I'm employing a much stricter grading system, that's why the number above is so low.
Lastly, I would like to point out that the tags "Technology Gap", "Hardworking Protagonist", "Scientists" do not fit here because this series doesn't represent what they imply.
There isn't a technology gap but different technology and distribution of it. While the MC is indeed hardworking in various ways it isn't an explicit subtext in the story. Similarly, while sorcerers are indeed researchers the tag "Scientists" implicitly refers to research of scientific fields as we know them in the real world.
In case anyone's wondering I'm the one who added most of the other tags as I was probably one of the few who had already caught up with the progress of the original while the translation had barely progressed.
