Hana Kimi is the kind of feel-good manga which will leave you with a fuzzy feeling afterwards, but it is very formulaic and full of cliches. And you've got the standard shoujo trio (love triangle) here: the dim-witted, boisterous and naive female protagonist; the popular, brooding and protective love interest; and the comedic, hyperactive and happy-go-lucky character who acts as both the love rival and a counterpoint to the male lead. Still, this is one of the first shoujo mangas that I've read and I enjoyed it quite a lot.
I was utterly disappointed with this manga!

You may disagree with me or not. Here it goes....
Pros: Art is good, some funny and cute parts, main character is independent, ending is overall GOOD
Cons: Story dragged on too long for me; some chapters seemed like fillers and can are sometimes boring; you can skip chapters of the story and won"t miss a thing, too many cliches
In my opinion Hana Kimi is a waste of time and some parts of the story are so boring and wavers from the main point of the story. I just wished it would GO FASTER. If your're new shoujo give it a try.

My favorite shoujo of all time.
:]
I'm a girl. I like shoujo.
This one really stands out in my mind as a great series, and I'd recommend it to any chick needing a good, "Awwww..." moment.

I simply loved this story. At the end I found myself not wanting it to end. It really is one of the best manga's I know. Mizuki is cool, she doesnt cry or whine and isnt overly dependend on the male characters in the serie. I liked Sano too, those two were really hilarious together. I laughed a lot reading this, the plot is perfect, there is lots of humor(ofcourse) and the characterdesigns rock. The art is unique too. It really was an awesome story. I wanna read it for the first time again XD

The premise is good, but the story is really slow and boring. Most of the events that happen have no impact on the relationships and feel like fillers. There's not enough conflicts or changes to keep readers interested.
The characters are also too static. They have cliche backgrounds and only about as much development as characters in some shounens. The main is independent, but not really enjoyable to watch. The characters in this manga are plain and boring compared against other romance comedies.

I breezed through the story. There was never a dull moment (thank Nakatsu!!), and there were so many classic moments throughtout this manga!!! Like that part where Mizuki is sleep talking (straight after that photo shoot) and she blurts out "Sano is so sexy!!"!! God, It killed!! And of course, Sano rescuing her from embarassing herself. The ending could've been better though. The whole thing is crammed up in one volume. It was almost like the mangaka suddenly realised she had to finish off the manga.
Apart from that, didn't find much to complain about.
Whoever's passed this one up must read it!!! Its a classic!!

It's fun, entertaining and also lovely! Here we learn the real meaning of friendship! And it's so fun! Although the part about Sano's family gets a little bit tiresome, it was good because the mangaka made us see and understand a lot about Sano and his scars, which only made the plot more rich and not another shallow story about boys having fun at school.
Talking about shallow... I didn't used to like gender bender's stories because I thought it was too shallow and something that would only happen in Japan! lol But I read this and loved it! ...And what about Nakatsu! Best supporting character ever!
If you finished this, I also recommend you watching the drama, because you'll see Toma Ikuta doing an outstanding performance as Nakatsu! He pictured the character awesomely!

This series was really good, with the characters and the plot, but i think that the ending wasn't really... all that good. It was crammed all into 1 volume. along with the cramming, the ending was kind of cheap and main-stream. i was disappointed because i thought that with Mizuki's personality, she would fight it out or something, but her kind of giving up and going away was really disappointing.

It seemed to me that 23 volumes for a romance manga is a bit much. Anyways, to me the ending was crammed into vol 23. Besides that, it was a great manga. i also saw the HanaKimi Special...it kinda confused me because Sekime described his bride as having a big stomach (because of the baby) but on the next page the bride looked as skinny as a pole, and well thats all i gotta say.
Great Read, please read, i at first put if off cause of genderbender (not my fav genre) but it was GREAT
