A Quick Favourite

When I read Hand Which I really found it hard to believe that this was Suzuki Tsuta's debut work. Her art style is unique, clean and engaging and in its own way, this fact alone makes her work worth reading.
Within her storyline and intertwined in the characters, Suzuki presents a very odd sense of humour that just goes perfectly with the atmosphere of the text and with the style of her art. In all fairness, I have to warn that you can't expect too much simply because this is a volume of one-shots. Taking it at face value, Hand Which is really very enjoyable in every aspect.

I love this

I adore this. I'd never read anything by SUZUKI Tsuta before so I was expecting something pretty normal and cliche like most yaoi manga is. I was surprised to find it to be something offbeat and different, with parts that had me burst out laughing and other parts where all I could think was, "Aww..."

I'm surprised to find that she has a way of creating the characters and writing the story so that even plot points or types of stories that I may normally feel is the Bad Sort of Yaoi Cliche is actually somehow understandable or well thought out. I have to agree with SkyBlue147 regarding not immediately labeling things, although I can see why elenaluz thought it was important to give that warning.

I adore the characters, I love the art, the expressions, the stories. The first and third (well, third chapter, but technically second story setting) are, by far, my favorite of the stories. I love the 5 friends stories (Udaka and Sawazu are sooo adorable) and the bento story is so charming (Tsuzuki and Chikuba are such a cute couple). There's something so refreshing, charming, offbeat, and engaging about this manga. I really want to read more of her stuff now... I can't believe this was her debut.

If it's any sort of reference for people, my other favorite mangaka are TAKANAGA Hinako, KAWAI Touko, MAEDA Tomo, and KANNAGI Satoru (in her collaborations with HONAMI Yukine and ODAGIRI Hotaru especially). I would *definitely* recommend this manga to anyone who's a fan of those mangaka. In fact, I intend to wax poetic to my friends about SUZUKI for awhile...

Hand Which has always been a story very close to my heart, and I love to return to it after time, again and again. It's definitely worth a read.

I would like to disagree with the post below, though. I don't want to argue about liking/disliking parts of the book, but making a quick judgment and label the characters as "abusive rapists" or "pedophiles" might seem unfair to possible readers. Tsuta has an unusual, catchy sense of humor, so even themes other mangakas could use to produce heart-wrenching angst would end up looking fresh and hopefully make you smile.

Cute and Sweet

I love the first two stories. The "uke" in the first story is cute and sweet, and the characters from both story lines are fleshed out. The second storyline is also cute, and has a nice twist at the end. As stated in the previous posts, both stories are realistic, and I also wish the mangaka had written more about the 5 friends.

Note: SPOILER

The third and fourth (last oneshots) are horrible. The next to last story has a violent, abusive seme practically raping/molesting the uke. And the last story features a pedophile with a teenager (13 yr old?). Don't touch it if you don't like the idea of adults with teenagers.

This is one of my earliest yaoi volumes, and I wanted to update my comment.

This is probably my favorite (and the first) by Suzuki Tsuta.
(I simply adored the chapter about the bento maker.)
I like oneshot collections that actually connect with each other.

Charming oneshots with great art, that partly deal with the sadness and loneliness of life...
Dramatic and amusing.
Very good characters that display love, sorrow, jealously and lust.

Chapter 2 was fun (though kind of sad).
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I've always liked shoving tools up my ass when I masturbate
was a killer. hhaaha.
Chapters 3-4 are amazingly cute and sad. My favorite bento story...
So sweet... Tsuzuki's even pickier than I am. lol.

Even though the later chapters are shoutcon-ish, it doesn't take away from the story~
Probably one of the few shoutas I've ever enjoyed.

Interesting consepts that are well convayed. Fun with a bit of sadness. But what's not to love?

A recommended read for any yaoi fan. ^^

I really loved the main story with the 5 friends. I hoped to read how the 5th friend deals with the fact that all his friends are dating each other, but just imagining it is enough to make me laugh a lot! The oneshots are pretty decent too, and I like how they are drawn. It's not a 10, because the stories of the oneshots weren't that great as the main one.

her debut manga? Very good for her first work! But I don't like how some figures are so "miniature" --like small-build body, it's realistic though. Anyway, I like the stories a lot.
