The feels

This manga started out kind of like the typical school boys genre, but I’m grateful it turned into something with much more heart and feels. Aww they were made for each other. I wish it was longer but still think it ended perfectly too.

I'm sorry, I didn't like it

I didn't like the plot, characters were cliche and that sloppy, messy art annoyed me to the core. Beautiful cute cover has nothing to do with drawings inside the book, in reality they look like if they were made by preschooler. Moreover I can't stand characters who just go along with everything, even humiliating or painful and Tsukasa was exactly like that..

The mangaka was trying too hard to make it psychological, the amount of drama is just crazy so it's not convincing

(child's abuse, hunger, violence, child's prostitution, neglecting a child, parents abandoning their child, mental illness of a parent, attempting a murder of own child, ugly divorce, violent yakuza neighbour, fear of being killed, actual murder, ignorance of bystanders - teachers etc.).
Seriously it's too much. The result is so-so.

Sex takes around a half space of this manga - it's sloppy, mostly forced (and seme was mean all the time) and business-like (with no deep feelings involved at least in the beginning, maybe mechanical is a better word to describe it) which was a big turn-off for me. I admit I have read worse yaoi than this, but still it's low quality and rather annoying. I was tempted by good ratings... well at least I'm not the only one who didn't like this manga, so be careful, you may not like it as well. Especially if good art is a must for you.

Not Groundbreaking But

There's just this warmth and, I know this doesn't make sense but, sincerity to the characters especially Ichinose that just took me in. It's also pretty smutty, but not over the top. There is no excess. And the narration and pacing is also actually quite well done.
Truthfully, I didn't like Matsubara (cruel lovers just put me and make me REALLY ANGRY). I still don't really like his character since Ichinose is so pure and earnest, but given Matsubara's background it's really unfair of me to expected a emotionally well balanced human being.
Normally, I would give it a nine because again I just can't bear to see Ichinose hurt in any way and

. However, the extra did it for me.

It's a bit over the top in the drama apartment, but in the end this manga made me feel good. The story culminated into something better than I would have anticipated.
But I must mention that it's not very memorable... apparently I read this already but I had no memory of it whatsoever.

Pleasantly Surprised

A story about a pair of troubled teens finding solace in each other within a questionable relationship and becoming better adjusted adults in a healthier relationship with each other. Like at the end of the main story, there is a really strong sense of hope for a better and happier future, and the extra just totally solidifies it with a snippet of their adult lives and it's just pretty dang gratifying. The extra is just so gratifying I think it might be my favorite part, ha ha.

I think this is definitely a story where you have to pay attention and pick up on the cues. The story had a very muted tone and everything is there, but it may not be readily apparent.

One of the things that bothers me is the mother. She has a mental illness and she

attempts to kill her son.
Like in the context of the story it works, but I don't like how it perpetuates the myth that people with mental illnesses are usually the perpetrators of violence. It's usually people with mental illnesses and disabilities that are targeted and not the other way around.

PS. Listening to mood music while you read it might make it more enjoyable, ha ha.

Surprise!

I enjoyed this a lot! I like playboy/bully seme so this is what hooked me first. The art seemed awkward at the beginning, but there was this scene when I could literally see Ichinose's feelings on his face and from that point onward it stopped bothering me and instead I began to actually like it.

However, the good part is not the angst, but how their relationship is further explored. There is some development, the relationship has depth and it didn't feel forced, it made sense to me. It has some issues (the mother is really creepy) but I think it deserves a chance, there isn't much of this type of yaoi out there.

Endearingly Cute

I wasn't expecting very much from the summary and ratings, but I was pleasantly surprised. This story has a bit of a muted tone - something I relate a lot with Slice of Life stories, but the relationship between Ichinose and Matsubara is exceedingly deep considering their ages. There are some very dark parts of this story and both characters have their own challenging home lives. But for those like me who can't stand tragedy - fear not. The story comes to a loving ending and the extra is truly the icing on the cake.

I also personally love their sexual relationship. They're a budding dom/sub but it's never really extreme and ultimately their love for each other is felt even through this dynamic. It's something much sweeter than the usual dom/sub relationships in any manga/story that I've read in the past.

The only thing I'm surprised about is that Ichinose failing to get into a private high school was never brought up again after the other students mentioned it to bully him. It's not important at all, but it still feels a little forgotten by the author.

One might say "same old, same old" when talking about this manga and I don't disagree with them at all. Yet it also baffles me how I actually came to like it a lot. I guess you could say I was somewhat dragged along with it and by the end I couldn't escape anymore. I just can't help but like how it was portrayed and developed. It's definitely not perfect, but somehow the authenticity and honest feel remain in the end and that's actually what matters here. I must say those qualities suit the whole thing quite well.

This was hurt/comfort but it applied equally to both characters. The way they supported each other had a realistic touch to to it. It was smutty as well. Although, the art was a bit messy, I immensely enjoyed the volume overall.

Second time reading

It was one of my firsts mangas since I've read it in Spanish a while ago, and I didn't like it, but for some reason I remembered it everytime I wanted to read something new, so I just gave it another try, and I absolutely love it now!
Both characters have issues with their families, although the seme thinks that the uke lives in a little perfect world. He also has many psychological traumas and bullies the uke a little too much, but at the end it seems like the uke starts to enjoy it, and the seme starts to treat him better and fall in love with him...

For me the extra was perfect, with both characters personality and the ending, I thought they were going to break up sooner or later and be unhappy forever. Then the extra comes, and makes our lives better!
Also, nice approach with the cat point of view ^^ made it cuter.

Really like it all!
