Description
From ANN:
The story of the comedy manga revolves around Yūji Yugami and Chihiro Watanuki, who sit next to each other in class. Unfortunately for the transfer student Chihiro, Yūji is weird... extremely weird. Even though he's the ace of the baseball club, he hasn't adapted to the club at all. He also stands apart from the rest of the class, but seems completely satisfied with being alone.

The predecessor of 'sitting beside someone weird/MC trope?'.. I believe. It started good and slow down a bit in the middle before it started to pickup the pace until the end.
The one that carried this show will be the FMC in the beginning, then MC's junior in the middle and finally MC halfway through the end.

Wish I can see more of future them because their relationship is
Nevertheless, this is a great manga. Give it a try!

It became a turning point for me to root for both of them and also my respect for FMC went up. The MC also have a little growth tho it's a satisfying growth I would say knowing how his personality works. Wish I can see more of future them because their relationship is

This manga excels at a lot of points. Its baseball arcs are excellent, the characters are well written and fun to read about, the comedy is on point, and the theme is built upon with expertise.
Of course, probably the 'thing' that sets this manga apart is its main characters. The author managed to create what I call 'attractive' characters; or in other words, characters that draw you in and make for a fun read even if the circumstances or the plot are not that interesting.
As a final note, I have to mention how the author, and his 'style' (his whole style, not just his art style), evolved throughout the series. This did not mean the series suffered a drastic change, though. Sometimes this happens, and in my opinion it usually is never a good thing. Luckily, this manga offers you something from the very beginning, and doesn't change it 20 or 30 chapters later. It evolved, it introduced new characters (at some point, I got a little bit tired of reading about other characters that were not the main character, but, as someone else mentioned here, no character was wasted), and it never got boring.
Of course it has its flaws, sometimes the plot doesn't allow for too much scrutiny, other times the arcs might seem a tad bit unsatisfying in the end, like the finale. I'm not the author, so my opinion is quite irrelevant, but in the end, I felt
And that, I guess, summarizes what I liked about the manga. Even if you see a flaw in it, what's good about it will always shine through. Besides, it never gets too complicated; although the chapters are somewhat lengthy, they are always really 'easy' to read... because of how fun it is.
I read this in (what was basically) two sittings, with quite some time between them. I'm writing this minutes after reading the final chapter, so the second part of the manga is quite fresh on my mind. That said, I consider the whole manga equally good, aside from the ending, and I never really felt the quality dipped.
PD. I placed the spoiler tag in case you're reading this because you want to know the opinion of someone who has read this manga, but don't want even the tiniest of spoilers. What I said doesn't go into any kind of actual detail, but I can't know what's spoilery enough to warrant a spoiler tag.

that the author heavily hinted at the establishment of a romantic relationship between the main characters. I have no qualms with the author not doing that, but I do have a problem with open-ended-like endings, and with setting expectations and not delivering on them correctly (you can subvert what the readers expect, but this doesn't apply in this case anyway). But, perhaps, more than anything I got the feeling
that the author encountered some troubles with placing these well written characters in the "unknown" environment that was the finale. Nevertheless, the author kind of respected the rule of not worrying to much about resolving all the pending threads, while actually solving some... so, even in the manga's flaws you also see good aspects about it.And that, I guess, summarizes what I liked about the manga. This manga set out to explore the true meaning of relationship without the shackle of manners, tradition and self doubt in the form of a boy who live his life his own way unhindered by conventions and niceties. We get to see him break apart the webs that bind people into acting in roles that they expect for themselves and for others by just being his unbothered self. The ending bring wetness to my eyes because eventhough he says he does not has any friends, but he look at them clearly to how they could become better as a person.
If you are led by your nose in a quest to have 100 friends, its better to have none.

This is an amazing story and the fact it keeps getting better as the story progresses is even more amazing!!
The 2nd half of the manga surpasses the 1st half by miles.
Who is gonna believe it was originally supposed to be a gag manga ending in 1 Volume @ Ch 5!!
This manga has one of the best endings I have ever seen.
Although unlikely, it would be amazing if we get a 2 cour adaptation for this manga!! (possibly 26 episodes)

The core theme of Yugami-kun is change, or lack thereof. The contrast between the main heroine, who wishes to change immediately, and our titular Yugami, who wishes to remain the same drives the manga forward along with a supporting cast that doesn't have one wasted character. They all learn a lot from each other and ultimately change in their own subtle, believable ways. All of it is supplemented by good, timely comedy used to break tension very effectively. If you like comedy and character driven drama it doesn't get much better than this.

Very, very original work. A well-paced slice of life manga with unforgettable characters. I am very picky but there is not one thing that I disliked about it. I finished reading the last chapter with a peaceful smile.

What really makes this manga amazing is because of the main characters.
Yugami’s development wasn’t hasty. In fact, a lot of people don’t change drastically which is why in Yugami’s case, even though he is misunderstood a lot, or his ideals almost never changes (not wanting friends), his development is very slow but kind of realistic.
A contrast to Chihiro, who wanted friends so bad and wanted to change quickly. Which met a lot of consequences and doubts. But all is well.
Honestly, thank you to the people who worked on this manga. I never knew the day that this will actually be completely translated.

This is a worthy counterpoint to the shounen trope of the Power of Friendship. Yugami ostensibly doesn't have any friends, but he doesn't care; he enjoy life on his own... while often aggravating those unfortunate to be around him. This makes for plenty of great comedy, but there's something more here, too.

Blows past most cliches through an interesting character that forgoes most social conventions, leading to hilarious situations and reactions you can't expect. Tired of generic manga that always follows the same pattern? Read this.
