Pastel isn't harem.

and so is Suzuka.

I consider it a harem if there are 3 or more people in love with the main character, not only necessarily if the main character lives with alotta girls. At any rate, pastel and suzuka are pretty poorly done mangas =/.

Love hina isnt generic it's CLASSIC! bigrazz I wonder what the first harem manga ever was.

Golden Boy?
actually i have no idea

Golden Boy is so awesome that it reeks awesomeness form it's manga pores!! For my money i'm gonna take Ranma as the one that started the harem thing.

As far as the most generic one, i'll take Maburaho (or was it Mahoraba? anyway the one with the anime that had the subtitle "Heartful Days"). That was pretty generic.

I want a harem!!!

Are you kidding me? Suzuka is one the best ones out there, or do you think it was a bad harem because it actually had a plot? You want a BAD harem look at Eiken that one is horrid.

Hahah, plot? Barely... Suzuka was only a series of reasons why the two main characters shouldn't go out. And yet they still tried. The whole relationship is a train wreck.

*Quickly removes Suzaka from wish list*

Hmm I wanna call Open Sesame a generic harem, cause it is, except for the fact that the main character isn't a useless wuss *shock awe* What about Rosario+Vampire. (Although I do want to point out that Open Sesame is REALLY generic, 9/10 times I can guess exactly what is on the next page, and generally I know the outcome of a chapter 2 pages into it).

Love hina wasn't too generic for the time period it came out in.

Most generic would have to be Ashita no Yoichi!

It's Mahoraba, and I don't see how this could be considered a "harem" manga in any way, shape or form.

Unless you consider the fact that the main character lives in an apartment with several females (although there is another male character there as well).

However, the only female interested in him romantically is the one he is also attracted to. The other girls may consider him as a friend, big bother, etc., but there is never any sort of romantic feelings between them.

For me it's a tough call as there are a number of one's that fit the stereotypical mold (To-LOVE-Ru, Rosario + Vampire, Sekirei, Girls Saurus DX, etc.), but the two I'd have to go with are Gakuen Heaven and Momoiro Sango. Both hit all the basic "harem" plot points: single, unassuming guy living in a setting where he is constantly surrounded by gorgeous females who for some unknown reason feel incredibly attracted to him.

Note that I actually really enjoy both these series, but I'm not unaware of the fact that they are rather generic on the face of it... smile wink grin

What was so haremy about suzaka like he went out with one girl then broke up with her then after a while he went out with his true love broke up with her then got back up with her, got her pregnant and married her. hell the one girl that could have done damage to suzaka and yamoto's relationship didnt even do anything.

How was it good? The art was pretty generic, all the females had roughly the same face, the plot was also generic harem, only difference i can think of is that it invovles people running a lot... Still Pastel was worse, the art for pastel had a lot to be desired...

We all consider Love Hina a harem, yet he only really liked one girl. I think it's a harem cuz the main guy lives in a woman's dormitory... oh wait... the main GUY character in Suzuka lives in an all girls dormitory as well hmm.....

Oh btw, I love how no one has mentioned ichigo 100%, although i actually liked that one... a lot bigrazz

yes but living with alot of women doesnt make it a harem and unlike love hina where all the girls fell in love with ketarou; thier was only 2 girls in the inn that actually liked yamoto, his cousin and suzaka.

and yes ichigo 100% was a good manga expeilly the ending it totally defied all harem manga laws

Actually, I think he means Maburaho. It is a lot more harem like than Mahoraba, since three girls like the main character, and the plot seems pretty much like a generic harem.

Edit: Oh shoot. Didn't notice the caption note. Anyways, my submission is Maburaho.

ichigo100% is by far the best harem manga, cant be generic since its so UNIQUE.

Lets define Harem first...:Harem is a term to describe Japanese works wherein one, average, male character is surrounded by numerous, attractive, female characters, most of which are romantically interested in the main character. ...

from wiki.

Love Hina...most generic, I would have to say. It was the only harem manga I have read that is TRULY disappointing because of its lack of plot and progression at all but thats for another time. By that definition, Suzuka is a harem manga and so is Love Hina, even though that is already accepted.

@funkmu1, I dont find Suzuka's art generic at all, not exactly unique but doesnt share a great deal of resemblences to others. My point, about Suzuka's plot is far better than Love Hina's but it might be bias since I do like and actively participating sports, any deal with it not to mention the character design of Love Hina isnt great.....Gotta read Pastel..actually have the manga and havent read it yet =/.

Can you you name ANY other "harem" manga, though I still don't consider Suzuka one, where the main love interest gets pregnant and the couple have to face reality and give up their dreams to stay together? Tell me exactly how that is generic? There is plot there if you open you eyes. So what if the art was generic? The story line was far heavier than Love Hina.

And I have to agree the Ichigo 100% is probably one of the best harems made.
