They look good for me, though I wish the scans themselves were larger or something. The pages look a bit blurry when enlarged. bigrazz

True, but that can be done by the editors bigrazz because the scans were small to begin with, that's why it looks blurry, but i think it's just fine and once the editors are done with them it's going to look a lot better. smile That's why editing takes a long time.

Hey all.
I'm so sorry, I weren't able to be online for awhile.
My internet was broken and thankfully I got it fixed asap.

I've got something to tell you guys,
actually I only got volume 13, 15 and 16.. and no volume 10,11,12,14.
I checked it out some time ago and it was out of stock.
I have ordered the volumes and they said they will contact me in a week or so.
I am really sorry. Gomenasai.

So I think we'll do volume 13 first while I'll wait for the stock.
Is that okay? sad

Ksoo here's the team aight?
Translator/Scanner : ivory__shoes
Cleaners : x91, liquid_hell, Rosilyn, luisalirio
Typesetters : phanzanu, chuiesha
Proofreaders : luisalirio, ranmaru
QC-ers : ivory__shoes, x91, lurisalirio

The Plan
1. I'll translate and the cleaners do their job.
2. I'll send the translation to the proofreaders.
3. Send the cleaned raws and translations to typesetters.
4. Then we'll QC it and I'll give you the ups.

We'll start after 14th May right?

Anyway,
so many posts. Gosh, i've got lots to catch up.
Let's see..
- we'll do the sfx and i guess it will be the cleaners job eyes
- so we are going to use ftp for transfering files?
- NO CAN SCANS? aha.
- time schedules. 1 chapter per week and the deadlines will be on Sundays, any suggestions?

kthnks. <3

Can someone upload an image of the japanese raw to compare. Hmm... If I had to rate it I would call that a MQ raw. It's cleaner than most raws but the dpi is too low that's why it's blurry. Me and hell aren't magicians exposure and leveling is your job so all we do is clean the whites and blacks and redraw. That won't change the blurriness. If you levelled that and it came out like that the end product will be similar. My internet is on and offright now but I guess it had to happen sometime since I've had it too easy the last three years. Oh well when they fix it i'll upload a tutorial about using ftp (very easy) to my temp site and you can all see how easy it is. Um I hope this division of labour is only for the first one or two chapters. Also why don't we keep positions open as well so that we can go even faster when we start.

Okay I'll take the initiative and start:

We are still recruiting staff if you wish to help us with anything at all just post it here. Could use another typesetter and a couple of editors also if anyone out there can translate japanese and wants to help with this or another project say so here. P.S other project is a secret but if you can translate japanese pm if you wanna know and help. bigrazz

Oh-kay... just so you guys know, I've just started reading Nodame Cantabile, and I now have only three volumes and v04c19 (reason found in sig). Quite sad really, but I'm finding myself loving this manga. There! laugh

@luisalirio84 :: I would really appreciate an FTP tutorial. Thank you! eyes

@ivory__shoes :: You're back! So, we start with volume 13? Hmm. That's okay for me, I guess. eyes

Oh, just so you guys know (once more), classes here start at June so I'll probably be a bit busy once June 4 arrives. I'll post more details later. bigrazz

Hi
Welcome back Ivory_shoes, and here's an example of the japanese raws:

http://img337.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nodame09b0004yt3.jp g

Warning: the following is totally out of topic.

@FuN! Yeah the cat in pastel in named Mikan but there was this old old anime with Mikan the talking cat but i don't know it's name, thanx for pointing out, i like pastel by the way but i think it's too slow.

I noticed the size of the scans were just 1000+ pixels, was it reduced? (Usually when I scan it can go up to 3000+ pixels... but maybe that's just me)

I gotta agree with luisalirio, the scans are medium quality. Everything is kinda blurry and it's pretty obvious at the scene with the lightning background (That's what's seriously bugging me) The most that I would probably do is use unsharp mask (maybe at 0.4 radius), but even then only the lines are going to be sharpened, it's not going to help the screentones much. Is there any way to fix the pages using the scanner instead of photoshop?

Ranmaru! I love the Japanese raws! They're gorgeous. It's slightly blurry, but nothing a little unsharp mask (say... 0.4 radius?) won't fix *winks* We should definitely use the Indonesian raws for translations and Japanese for editing. Definitely (sorry, ivory_shoes)

I'm off to emule to search for more Japanese raws laugh

@luisalirio We have a secret project?

I'll make the tutorial but can't put it up until my inernet is fully functional. All I can do right now is browse and just barely. Also we could start at 13 since ivory needs the indonesian raws to translate but if we get a japanese translator we can do 9 and 13 at the same time. Any japanese translators out there wanna help? Hmm translators are always hard to find. So you gotta offer them something. Hmm.. Please volunteer if you can also more editors and especially typesetters are needed. The more the merrier. Also I don't really like the name No Can Scan(s) it was originally just a dumb joke on my part. Can't we think of something a little bit better?

Itried to post the above earlier but my internet is working like a yoyo right now and I don't know when it'll be fixed they originally let use use the satellite redundancy system and promise to resolve the cable fault within 21 days but now the sattelite backup is having problems too. I might switch to one of those gloabal sattelite isps if I can convince my dad and help to pay for it i'm sick of depending on a stupid monopoly telecom.

Back on topic- I have two secret projects actually. If you look around the how about a game thread you would get a hint from one of my recent posts there and the other I dropped a hint in the forum for that series and it should be pretty obvious if you find it. I have the raws for the second secret project and i'll even edit by myself if I have to but I can't translate manga yet so I still need a translator(japanese) Anyone? Also another hint for the second one is that there wasn't a single release for an entire year and it's only up to volume 4 and I am tired of waiting for more chapters. The main character is somewhat similar to onizuka from gto but he's a chef of some sort. Okay enough hints.

@Liquid hell yep the size is too small an hq would be from 2000px height and above. Also I'm sure ivory didn't want to destroy her volumes so she scanned two pages at a time(probably why it's half the size it should be) but you're supposed to debind the volume and then scan it saves more of the original image and saves a lot of work for the editors so they don't burn out. Just my 2 cents. Haven't seen the jap raws het though.

Edit I looked at the first pic of the japanese raw and it looks really good even though it's still only 1000 px high. It is a bit blurry too when you zoom into 100% so work will need to be done by the editors to fix that but it's possible to release hq scans with it though. Did you crop it or something cause it looks cropped. bigrazz

Here's a sample page of what it will look like from the japanese raws. It could probably be better if I did some actual work on it beside just cleaning and cloning out the sfx. BTW this manga is easier than most to edit cause it's mostly clearly defined black and white and no fancy sfx.

Tell me what you think please. bigrazz Oh sorry for the double post I only noticed too late dead

Yeah I just used myriad cause it's the first one on the list in cs3. I use wild words on another project so I have it. But we need to come up with some standards for typesetting so that it looks uniform. Like what px size to use and what font and The sfx fonts and effects. bigrazz

some scans allow different size of font. I mean if you let me use 14px, this scan might make the words too big, this scan might makes it too small.

SFX font should be change and should not be the same --___-- or else it would look seriously awkward.

Yes but you can't use fifteen different fonts in the same chapter that would look wierd. Also I used 5px and 6px for this page and 14 px and 8px for the sfx bigrazz

that is what i do. 15 different? no, they are all different. What i do is base on the SFX meaning and use the font. Example: "Splurts" as in water for SFX, i will use a type of font that looks like watery.
