"Brams Stoker changed "Weakened" to "Killed""

It's been a while since I read the book, but I don't remember that... If memory serves right his coffin was opened in the evening before sundown when he was killed. And he was smiling. No effects except he was dead-stiff until he was stabbed. Sorry if it's already been mentioned, the posts are long and I skim read. >_>

And I vote werewolf. They have all that fur, regardless of power, if the vampire can't get to the flesh to bite and suck blood, I think the werewolf would win through brute force and size.

Oh sorry, It seems I got confused... it was the Movie Nosferatu that spread that lie of Sunlight = dead

However, Brams did make some changes, The Mist, The Garlic, The Cross, The Holy water, The limitations (You can't enter a home unless you are invited? pfff!!!)

-Note: said information MUST be a Myth or Legend that is part of a country history, literary work is BANNED since the point of view seems to always be one sided (even Fables are more legal than Literary work)

If you are only looking for information from myths and legends (as in folk tales) then I think you are misunderstanding something. You can check wiki for the folk tales..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire#Origins_of_vampire_beliefs

Quote from Chaoswind
-They only come out at night because they fear sunlight. Sunlight doesn't kill them, but is well known that a vampire under the sunlight is weaker than a human and as thus can be easily killed.
(For the people that can't pay attention, Sunlight weakens vampires)

What you are describing is vampires the way they are predominantly portrayed in modern fiction.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire#In_modern_fiction

Originally in Slavic folk tales from Eastern Europe (Balkans and Transylvania predominantly, later all over Europe), where the traditional "vampire" legends came from, vampires generally weren't vulnerable to daylight. I say "generally" because different regions had minor differences in their legends, especially what vampires were vulnerable to (which is why there's no many things...)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire#Protection

I'm quoting "Slavic folk tales" even though vampire-like creatures can be traced to many different cultures, because the modern day take on vampires comes from Bram Stoker (Dracula) and a few others who were inspired by the Eastern European folk tales.

From the early 1700s mass hysteria broke out over vampire sightings all over Europe, popularising the Slavic 'vampir' folklore.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire#Medieval_and_later_Europe an_folklore

Anyway what I was trying to say is that since even the "original" Slavic folklore has so many variations it is very difficult to correctly outline how a vampire is supposed to be. I'm not defending Twilight or anything, since I haven't read it, but saying that vampires are supposed to be weak in sunlight isn't really right. It differs from work to work. In the folklore specifically they weren't weak against light...

Edit: Oh man I started typing this and left it halfway done for so long that by the time I actually posted the sunlight thing was pointed out...

Care to ping point me?

PS: xtr3 I will investigate what you say later (IE tomorrow), I have to sleep, in 5 hours I have to get up to work.

lol no rush.
I just threw it all out there.

Oh and, I've heard of the running water thing. They can't pass running water. I think that also some people used to believe that unless invited the vampire couldn't enter your home...

A...werewolves...maybe
I don't know much about werewolves, but if every girl in your school goes ranting on about vampires and reading vampire books and discussing whether or not to buy the twilight dvd...then you'd not like vampires too much none

But excluding personal experiences and my biased opinions, I'd say that vampires are cooler.

I'm not sure about the water, but it seems Greeks put alleged vampires on islands because they couldn't cross water. A lot of sources point toward water being pure and holy. But that seems to point towards the same idea as a crucifix and I think that was pointed out as false.

And while we're on the topic of unsure vampire myths, anyone remember anything about vampires and mustard seeds?

That running water thing sounds like it originally applied only to spirits and unseelie wights (someone else who has read Cecilia Dart-Thornton books please back me up on this laugh )
In old Scottish or maybe Irish folklore (or maybe neither country lol i cant be bothered looking it up). And someone decided to create a vampire that had that weakness as well.

that all sounds a bit vague. what im trying to say is that running water is a traditional deterrent to supernatural beings and now someones applied it to vampires as well.

I started to read the description in the first comment but it was to long, so i will vote for Batman.
Being rich in the day and a superhero at night its pretty cool.

If you are talking of the animals wolf kick as*.
if you are talking about the legends vamps are stronger than werewolves, that depending on the time of the day.
And the succubus are my favorite choice in the female side of this choice.
I hope my choice doesn't help, just kidding.
I know it won't help.

so any novels or comics people would suggest for such creatures.

I'd personally suggest the Anita Blake series, by Laurell Hamilton. Vampires, Zombies, Werewolves, Werecats, Magic. And a warning of some sexual content for people not into that though. Great read...

so whats other people reading

The tie breakers are that awesome Cat Power song and a little TV show called Big Wolf on Campus. You really can't beat either.

Folklore wise, I don't really care.
